Kingman Letters: To the KRMC Hospice Team

A big thank you to the KRMC Hospice team, and to my friends.

My mother, Avonelle Stevens passed away on Feb. 5, just over two months ago, but my memories of her and the gratitude I have for all of the special people who helped us during her final days will last forever.

I have to say that the people who work for, and volunteer for the KRMC Hospice are the greatest people around. My mother had the best possible care while in our home for the last six months of her life thanks to all of you.

Our nurses, Linda and Barbara, were the best. They were helpful and professional, and they were both very compassionate toward our needs.

Our CNA was Vicki, and I can't sing her praises enough. She was so good to my mother, and there were times that mother could be a bit stubborn, but Vicki had a way of getting her to cooperate. Vicki always won the battle and mother loved her.

Our volunteer was Laura; she was an angel. Her care and compassion toward my mother was sweet and tender. She even called us several times toward the end just to see how we were all doing.

When my husband and I want out of town, the staff at the Joan and Diana Hospice House treated mother like royalty. When we got back into town and picked her up, she said that being at the Hospice House was like being at a resort.

Our Hospice Chaplain, Pastor Denny, gave mother spiritual council and spent time talking with her about Jesus, heaven and her beliefs.

Thanks to all of you for your care and dedication, and for the excellent way you treat your patients and the family. We also want to thank all of our friends who made my mother feel special. Christy for all your help and for making our outings fun. Walt and Karen for the fun times during baseball season, how Mom enjoyed your playful teasing. Nancy, Linda and Mona for sitting with Mom when we had places to go. Tina, Beth and Doris for the meals you ladies prepared for us. We also want to thank all of the people who sent cards and notes of encouragement after my mother passed. What an amazing group of people you all are. We are so blessed to have all of you in our lives and to be able to call you our friends.

Linda and Steve Kocher
