Kingman letters: More gun laws, same result

The number of federal laws active on the books is around 46,000, give or take a few thousand because this number changes daily. As of Jan. 1, 2010, a big milestone in this scary look into the future was the introduction of 40,627 new laws that went into effect throughout the nation.

When all state laws are added to the list, you get more than a few hundred thousand combined laws active on the books. For example, Texas alone has more than 40,000 laws by itself. Add 49 other states and you begin to see if one took the time to track each state, you would be looking at almost a million laws on the books in the United States of America. The Land of the Free takes on a whole new meaning.

With speculation of up to 20,000 active gun laws in America and the recent mass murders in Connecticut, what's a few more gun laws going to do, really?

Nothing!

Contrary to some postings here, the most restrictive gun laws in Germany were passed in 1928, and modified significantly in the Waffengesetz law passed on March 18th 1938 - under Adolf Hitler. While permits were still required for some gun models, this was a far cry from gun confiscation. Hitler's most famous anti-gun quote, from a dinner party on April 11 th 1942, had everything to do with the subjugated Russian civilian population which had been heavily armed. Hitler was stating that the Wehrmacht - as opposed to Russian civilian militia groups or police - should maintain security in conquered territories. (Allied soldiers found huge numbers of privately-held guns in German homes at the conclusion of WWII)

“I thought you to be intelligent, where in my statement does it say I am blaming Obama for anything?”

And where in my post did I say anything about you? I simply posted information relative to your initial comment. Nothing in my post was directed at you, it was pointing out the ridiculous crap that is currently circulating on the internet.

Sorry if you misconstrued the essence of my post.

"A guy from Germany did that and millions of men, women, and children were slaughtered because they could not defend themselves."

Just when I thought gun grabbers could not get more desperate for justification, I began seeing threads pop up at the website democratic underground that actually defend Hitlers gun control measures. Some there are quick to say that the gun laws were not that restrictive because people who were law abiding citizens and could prove a need to have one were not restricted from doing so.

So gun control laws in Hitlers Germany were not bad at all.............Unless you were a Jew, or member of some other group he did not like, of course.

“There is way to much hype out there! The investigation at Sandy Hook was botched, evidence tainted, leaving too many questions unanswered.”

And here we go! People are now blaming Obama for perpetrating a hoax on the nation in an effort to take guns away from Americans. A group known as Operation Terror, without any facts, reality or even common sense – the modus operandi of the intellectually challenged - claim that six year old Emilie Parker, who was reported to have killed along with 20 other children at Sandy Hook elementary school on 14 December, is still alive and offers up pictures of the child sitting on President Obama’s lap after the shooting. The only flaw in this nut-groups argument is the child pictured with the president is Emilie’s sister.

Further demonstrating the total insanity of these people is the assertion that the child’s father was reading from cue cards and faking his profound despair when he addressed the media.

A 69 year old man who sheltered six children that fled from the school campus has been receiving hate e-mails and phone calls asking how it feels to be part of a government sponsored hoax.

Other dim-bulb conspiracy theorists maintain there were four perpetrators from Israeli special forces, and that it wasn't children who died, but a secret United Nations delegation.

The majority of these fools are simply angry that Obama won the election and are angry all of the time, about everything and stand by their idiotic claims that the president is a Muslim, a fascist, a communist, a socialist, a Maoist, a Kenyan, an Indonesian, or a homosexual who has used a fake birth certificate and social security number in order to take over the government and make their lives miserable.

There is way to much hype out there! The investigation at Sandy Hook was botched, evidence tainted, leaving too many questions unanswered. For these very reasons we may never know the complete truth. Can you imagine the ramifications and the embarrassment to the investigation officials and the government? That's what happens when you let any media within a mile of any crime scene before a scene is secured. It's a shame.

@LA
"Dr's are to let it be known if their patients have guns."

No...that's not what it "basically" says.

It means that if Doctors, in dealing with a patient, perceive a credible threat from a patient...they are ALLOWED to report it...not that they are required to.

The fact that you read it the way you do....UNBELIEVABLE!

Why are you over-the-top gun lovers so nervous about being held responsible for having a gun? What is the problem? I realize the Kingman area has, for many decades, had a crazed militia presence, but do you honestly think the "man" is going to come to you house to take your guns? Nobody has said that any new laws would stop all gun violence in fact they have said just the opposite. But, aren't any lives saved, however few, worth it? I thought you guys were all about preserving life. I swear, some of you would love nothing more than to have the slightest excuse to use your weapons for home defense or to stop the 'tyrannical government'. Crazy. For the record, I spent five years in the Army and have a total of 14 guns in my household. You know, I didn't send in the warranty info for my new toaster oven because I just knew that the "man" would come to my door demanding it.

I am sure that is what Glenn Beck and WND want you to believe, but think about it. It is saying that Drs should be reporting mental issues so that sick people don't hurt anybody.

Obama is one sick puppy. He is changing gun control to "gun violence" as he has done in prior times with words that he didn't like.

Are you aware that Dr's will now be used to turn in any patients that they know have guns in their homes? Heard this yesterday, see it in print today. I AM STUNNED.

And another use of defenseless children by obama. A song, letters from children blaming their parents for them not being safe. Again, obama is a nut case.

>>According to a background briefer provided by the White House, President Barack Obama is asking doctors to help deal with guns. Here's the relevant passage:

PRESERVE THE RIGHTS OF HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS TO PROTECT THEIR PATIENTS AND COMMUNITIES FROM GUN VIOLENCE: We should never ask doctors and other health care providers to turn a blind eye to the risks posed by guns in the wrong hands.

„h Clarify that no federal law prevents health care providers from warning law enforcement authorities about threats of violence: Doctors and other mental health professionals play an important role in protecting the safety of their patients and the broader community by reporting direct and credible threats of violence to the authorities. But there is public confusion about whether federal law prohibits such reports about threats of violence. The Department of Health and Human Services is issuing a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits these reports in any way.<<<

Sounds sweet - basically it means Dr's are to let it be known if their patients have guns. Dr's have now been deputized under this administration to turn in patients. UNBELIEVABLE!!

Hello all gun control nuts! keep blaming honest men and women for all the crazy, whacked out criminals that use guns to harm other people. Keep saying that, then pretty soon no one will have a gun except the criminals and the goverment. Then sit back and watch all your rights disappear.

Folks sling terms around so easily, liberal, socialist, communist and try to tie them to democrats as if they all are dirty words and connected with out any question! And some sling terms of conservative, christian, compassionate, fascism, neo-con, etc., and some deem these badges of honor! I served in US Marines with folks who did not care if you were black, white, brown, red, gay, straight, democrat, republican, independent, or any other cute term one likes to label others or yourself, we all bleed red and die the same when push comes to shove! Sadly two things one ought to never debate since one will always get little agreement is politics and religion! I cannot say how all this gun controversy is going to come out, but if one uses history as any lesson its a political suicidal move for anyone to suggest banning or limiting 2nd amendment rights under the guise of some tragedy committed by one man lone gunman, its been tried over and over and the party who plays the losing hand always loses in the end!

@askon forit.....nobody thinks to defend their home and family using ammonia nitrate bombs. It might damage the carpet. No loss there. But taking away our choice of guns based upon a shooting incident which has been grossly caricatured for the purpose (the single assault weapon was left in a car and NOT USED in the shooting, etc.) is an attack on our intelligence and rights.

Anon anon, did i say all democrats are cowards? No i didnt, there is a difference between democrats and liberals. The reason i say a liberal is a coward is not in the sense of would i protect your life or you protect mine in a life threatening situation. The reason i say a liberal is a coward is because they want to trade liberties for security. Because they aimlessly do what thier told and with the lack of any common sense at all do what the left wing media tells them. They encourage the moral decay of society while raising a nation full of weak, uneducated children. Liberals always act like they are a victim in some way or another, and would rather take a govt. hand out than get out there and work for something, blaming their lazyness on some sort of unequal playing ground, and that ladies and gentleman, is a coward
