Kingman Letter: Thanks from Girlie Lopez Forman, HSU Co-Sponsor

Now that the holidays are over, it's time to thank the Kingman Community for their help with providing one hundred and twenty Blessing Bags to the Families in Transition (FIT) students at Kingman High School.

We want to thank the following businesses, churches, and clubs for their help with providing the items for the Blessings Bags: The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints Long Mountain Ward Relief Society for providing material and their time sewing 100 Blessing Bags; the Mohave Community Federal Credit Union's CEO Anne Riley, it's staff and members for their monthly donations of various items for the Blessing Bags and their financial donations; Project Linus for knitting and crocheting blankets, hats, and scarves; and Kingman High School's Hispanic Student Union (HSU).

Providing Blessing Bags to the FIT students is one of the main projects for HSU. Through fundraising, HSU spent approximately $355 to purchase hygiene products, socks, beanies and gloves for the Blessing Bags. While shopping at Walmart for these items, a husband and wife approached us, asked what we were doing and donated money. We thank them as well for their kind gesture.

So many people speak negatively of Kingman. However, I can honestly say that the community has always supported and responded to the needs of our students. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all so much for making the FIT students' holidays brighter!

In closing, I must also thank my HSU members who worked hard at fundraising for this important project. My members truly understand the importance of giving back to the community and paying it forward. For this, I am very proud of them.

With a grateful heart,

Girlie Lopez Forman
