Reader Letter: Appropriate placement

In the Miner's Nation section, page 10, on Jan. 21, the article about Obama taking the oath for his second term as President was appropriately placed adjacent to articles about two other hideous crimes, a teen gunman killing five people in Albuquerque and a SWAT team discovering a decomposed murder victim in a home in Savannah.

The article is exactly where it belongs.

David Gaither, most according to Merriam-Webster Dictionary means 1. greatest in quantity, extent, or degree, 2: the majority of. So yes most American love Mr. Obama.

“If you look at the polls far more people would have voted for the President if they had voted.”

I would like to correct the above to, “If you look at the polls far more people would have voted for the President if they had BEEN ABLE TO VOTE.”

Massive efforts at voter suppression by Republicans all across the nation caused confusion, massive lines and a reduction in voting machines at urban polling locations.

And now the Republicans are attempting to mess with the Electoral College that, in the case of Pennsylvania, would have given Willard the Money Hider 9 electoral votes and Obama 4, when Obama clearly won the popular vote of the people. It is hoped that these actions will finally lead to the dissolution of the Electoral College.

The simplest answer to the scummy actions by the Republicans is to remove control of all Federal elections from the states and establish a nationwide standard that would include a voter ID card (you know, a National ID Card) that would be valid at any polling location in the country, if a person were to move a simple change of address would be filed and the card info database updated. Standard early voting days and hours with the final Saturday and Sunday prior to election day being available at all polling locations for voters, voting machines in sufficient numbers to handle the numbers of people in a district, Election Day changed to the second Saturday in November and states barred from altering any provisions of the federal regulations. In addition all voting districts in the nation would be set by an independent group and gerrymandering would be illegal. Any thoughts?

Someone explain to David that when I said most I ment of the people who voted. If you look at the polls far more people would have voted for the President if they had voted. Some of them had to wait in line for 6 or 7 hours. Gerrymandering has made it possibe for many Republicans to be elected when the majority would not vote for them. In this last election only 30 percent of the 435 seats had any chance of losing because of the way their districts are drawn. We need to re draw the districts by and independent non partisan committee and then we can have a fair election.

“obama got second term because millions did not vote.”

Ahh, another sore loser weighs in. Obama won, deal with it. If people (such as TJ) caused the re-election of Obama, good for them and a sincere thank you!

Wow! I can't believe some readers have time to make an issue of where articles are placed in a newspaper....and then write a letter to the editor about it! Take a yoga class and have a cup of tea.

@David

"Too bad you didn't pay attention to the vote totals! Approx. 3 million vote win isn't anywhere near "most Americans" disagreeing!'

Actually skeezix, a majority means MOST. Get over it.

"Not exactly. The "give me free stuff" Democrats have spoken!"

So, are you saying that folks that don't have as much as you and I are not allowed to vote? Hmmm....I see....

“Too bad you didn't pay attention to the vote totals! Approx. 3 million vote win isn't anywhere near "most Americans" disagreeing!”

Ahh, but a win is a win even by one vote! And 3 million is, no matter how much you dislike it, a lot of Americans that did not want to see the anti-American sleaze Willard the Money Hider leading us into a theocratic nightmare.

“Not exactly. The ‘give me free stuff’ Democrats have spoken!”

No, the American People have spoken!

Obama won, stop whining and deal with it.

Fear, suspicion, and hatred is the new Republican party and D.B, and Patriot Wes prove it daily. Amazing that folks will take the time out of their few days here on earth for such.

Oh how clever. President Obama's inaugeration was a "hideous crime."

It so happens the president recieved almost 65.9 million votes about 5 million more than R-Money. Your so-called crime is called democracy. The people have spoken. Get over it.

Thanks DB for your latest attack on our president. Too bad most Americans don't agree with you. But I applaud your efforts to bring an end to the Republican party. Just keep it up and pretty soon the Dems will take over. Just a few more years and most of your dinosaur friends will pass on to conservative heaven, and the rest of us can change America for the better.
