Letter: Measuring output

The Opinion page on March 29 had a letter by Gary Eames which I'd like to add to. I was in total disgust after getting my water bill to see I was being charged $52 for sewer usage. The fee to start with is outrageous, but how the heck does the city know how much of my water usage goes down the drain?

How do they know how many showers I take or toilets I flush? No neighbor's bill was that high. It's hard enough for us retired people on Social Security to make ends meet, but now the city is forcing me to go potty out in the yard with the dogs and take my showers under the garden hose.

Any comments, city manager or councilmen?

Third world country as a result of Reaganomics.

Building an outhouse might help but the water from your hose would count against you so you might as well take the shower. Send a thank you e-mail via the City of Kingman website to Mayor Salem, it was his idea to have the customers pay now instead of finding another financial means to pay for the sewer project and it was the city council that voted to approve the mayors idea. Our government big and small seem to be on the same agenda, starving out those that barely get by. You ever wonder why the other utilities have programs to help low income but the Kingman water dept. does not, Salem needs to be shown the door next election.
