Letter of thanks: Cheryl Helco

As the 2013 school year comes to a close, I would like to take a moment to tell the KHS track and field team how proud we (all of Kingman, I hope) are of all of you.

To Cristian Gutierrez, the 2013 MVP, be proud, you earned it.

To Darian Kamin, the points leader, great job and a fine performance.

To Lorenzo Martinez, Liz Angle and Thomas Poulard, you are all fantastic. (I hope this makes up a little for the athletic awards you deserved but didn't receive.) Thank you.

For those of you who represented KHS at the state finals, Darian Kamin, Cristian Gutirrez, Paulina Delgado and Amber Tackett your efforts are appreciated. Good job.

A special thank you to our exchange student Thomas Poulard for being a part of our community and representing KHS.

And to the entire track and field team, thank you for representing our fine city with pride, style and grace. Your hard work and the sacrifices you have made these last four years have not gone unnoticed. You have all grown into some of the finest young adults I have had the privilege to know.

Another special thank you to all of the parents who were there every step of the way supporting our fine young athletes, especially Judy Haun for photos, even though her son graduated last year.

Lastly, we wish you all the best in your life's journey. I have no doubt you will go far. Follow your dreams.

Cheryl Helco

Proud grandmother of Darian Kamin

Thank you Cheryl for your letter.. Little did I know when I started taking pictures of David in track so many years ago, that the athletes would all become part of my live and share so much love and kindness and friendship with me. Many have graduated and gone on to live their lives, and I am so happy for them all. They became a family and it gives me so much joy to see that many of them still stay in contact with each other and me.

I have enjoyed all the years of watching these kids grow into adults and see their progress in Track and Cross Country. I began taking pictures of my son David, and then something happened in my heart and I began taking pictures of everyone on the teams, as I wanted to give these special athletes some memories of their years running. I don't even have an idea of how many CD's I burned for them :) Along the way, they all became special to me and my heart filled with love for them too. Even though David graduated in 2012, I will continue to go to as many meets as I can and keep taking pictures of the team. I will always cherish the memories these special people have given me. I love them all and cannot tell them enough how special they are and how proud I am of each one of them! GO KHS TRACK AND FIELD AND CROSS COUNTRY
