Editorial: Exempt, and loving it

Rich Thurlow
Editor

President Obama retreated last week from his previous, oft-repeated lie that if you like your insurance, you can keep it, qualifying the shameless deception by saying you can't keep a "substandard" plan.

That statement - that some bureaucrat knows best when it comes to other people's health insurance - likely infuriated more than a few folks. It's worrisome that others just heard the words, nodded and smiled.

The fact that the president is peddling a product that is, by most accounts, far more expensive than the good old days before Oct. 1 is perhaps best illustrated by the flood of people onto the Medicaid rolls rather than onto an insurance plan. And who else but government can blow a half-billion on a website that doesn't function?

These are the people who will be in charge if the single-payer crowd gets its way.

And then a gift arrived in the mail from the insurance company that covers my wife. Because we had purchased the insurance plan for years without any changes, Blue Cross advised us, we are exempt from the clutches of Obamacare.

It's Christmas in November. Even with a substandard president.

Socialist so-called democratic bag rats are directly responsible for this!
Thanks for nothing, your turning this country into another USSR.

Almost 80 million people with employer health plans could find their coverage canceled because they are not compliant with ObamaCare, several experts predicted.

Their losses would be in addition to the millions who found their individual coverage cancelled for the same reason.

Stan Veuger of the American Enterprise Institute said that in addition to the individual cancellations, "at least half the people on employer plans would by 2014 start losing plans as well." There are approximately 157 million employer health care policy holders.

Avik Roy of the Manhattan Institute added, "the administration estimated that approximately 78 million Americans with employer sponsored insurance would lose their existing coverage due to the Affordable Care Act."

As we await November 30th, and the REAL obamascare rollout that undoubtedly won't happen, more bad news for the king.

His ratings are in the toilet, majority does not trust him in any area.

The left wing New York Times published a story today stating obamacare is nothing more than redistributing the wealth.

Of course it is as us right wingers have been saying for three years, as Ted Cruz has tried saving the country from and as have many liberals up for re-election now been saying also.

Over 30% of obamascare hasn't even been built...the part where you pay to buy it. How are you going to log on when the site barely works, every expert says don't go on because it has already been hacked and your info isn't safe, there is no way to pay for it if you do get on, obamascare says your payment needs to be made by Dec 15th to have your policy before January so as not to be fined.

This is lunacy. Obama lied about obamascare repeatedly, millions of innocents are being hurt badly, noone trusts him and the sand his life has been built on is collapsing under him. 200

“Boy, can you ever misinterpret what a person stated Mr. Moore! We were not coved under govt. supported insurance.”

Boy, can you ever misinterpret what a person stated Ms Smith. I did not say you WERE covered by government supported insurance, here is what I said, “…you’re covered by government supported health care and don’t care what happens to others.” Now, the contraction “you’re” is indicative of YOU ARE, meaning you are NOW covered by Government supported health care.

“It is predicted that mid 2014 another 50-100 million people covered under Employ Group Insurance will loose their group coverage…”

It is also predicted that the entire world will explode killing everything on it. Do you buy into that prediction as well? It was predicted the world would end in December of 2012. Did you buy that one as well? Oh, BTW it didn’t happen.

“..HIS scheme of taking over control of We The People--One more step into socialism!”

I have to admit your paranoia is actually funny. Please keep the laughs coming.

”You really need to quit twisting statements out of context.”

You really need to quit misinterpreting the English language.

We were not coved under govt. supported insurance. IT was DPS STATE EMPLOYEES GROUP INSURANCE! For which we paid the premiums!!
It is predicted that mid 2014 another 50-100 million people covered under Employ Group Insurance will loose their group coverage, part of OB's plan in order to coerce those people into HIS scheme of taking over control of We The People--One more step into socialism!
You really need to quit twisting statements out of context.

“What OB needed to do for his plan to succeed was get all employer group plans scrapped so those with work ethics and jobs would be paying for everyone else's…”

Wow! Why on the world would you want that to happen? Oh, wait, I forgot, you’re covered by government supported health care and don’t care what happens to others.

“He needs to be IMPEACHED!!!!!!!”

I will ask you again – for what? Please be specific. Will you answer this time?

“And I DO NOT CARE WHAT COLOR HIS SKIN IS!!”

So why did you mention it?

I have not heard ONE SINGLE person go public declaring they are so thrilled to OB Care because their insurance policy was Soooo "Substandard". What OB needed to do for his plan to succeed was get all employer group plans scrapped so those with work ethics and jobs would be paying for everyone else's, the younger people are bailing on him too, they are either in school with no job, working part time and in school or college degreed and can't find a job. None of them in a very good place to what Ob wants.
This whole thing is such a debacle It Needs to be Scrapped! He needs to be IMPEACHED!!!!!!! And I DO NOT CARE WHAT COLOR HIS SKIN IS!! I can't stand to look at Nixon or Carter and Clinton with his Monica tidbit is just as bad!

Every year under our group policy there were options, list of doctors, eye care specialist ect., and every year we went over all these things before making a choice and submitting it back to the employer(in our case the state of Az.). Some years there was no change to what we had the previous year so we opted to keep the same.
Never did we feel we had "junk Insurance".
Pre-existing condition didn't affect us and with all my medical, surgeries, miscarriage, kidney failure, births etc. we could not have been more blessed by our policy!
That was however under state employees Group coverage.
It is the "Already Known Intention " of Obamacare to dismantle Employer/Group policies and it will happen if not stopped!!
ACA will negatively affect everyone but will put even more money into Fed coffers, So OB thinks.

"Since taxpayers do not pay for abortions your point is moot"

Actually..Federal funds cannot be used to cover abortions...but since States administer their own Medicaid programs, some states do use taxpayer dollars to fund abortions under their own or federal guidelines.

Source: Kaiser Family Foundation under State Health Facts.

So...I guess taxpayer money is indeed used. Not that it's anyone's business. I may not want a bridge to nowhere...but my money is still used for it.

Since taxpayers do not pay for abortions your point is moot. Why do you righties post this nonsense. And believe me “you” (since you used the “we”) are against abortions. Read the nattering nonsense of the busybodies who show up here spewing their anti-choice garbage day after day.

“It's funds, from the government, that pays for indigents...Surprise.”

Surprise! You’re wrong - again. Hospitals raise the rates they charge each one of us to cover the care they provide for indigents. SURPRISE! Where do you people keep getting this trash? Oh, right FAUX News!

You don't want to pay for an abortion, then keep your pants up and quit bed hopping. And when it comes to hospital bills, they have always been high. Also, I am sure she has no idea what "Hill-Burton funding" is...It's funds, from the government, that pays for indigents...Surprise..

WOW! The obamacare "better" deal.

You lose your insurance, you lose your doctor, your new premium will be at least 41% higher and written into obamacare is that no, you will not be leaving your so called "crappy" plan for something better but instead, will be sent to sub-standard hospitals/clinics, etc - those designed for the low income medicaid people. WRITTEN IN OBAMACARE.

Forget obamacare sending you to the big famous clinics with excellent, world famous care. You won't be going there.

But in 2014, the other shoe is going to drop making 2013 look like a walk in the park. In 2014, those insured by their bosses will be thrown out also...millions of them. Possibly 80%. Then all hell is going to break loose.

Reported by Dr. Betsy McCaughey, the only person I know who has read obamacare in it's entirety and reported here by Rush Limbaugh, the Dr of Democracy.

Meanwhile, today's hearings...many already trying to hack obamacare and one made it through. Otherwise, all is well. Hehehehe

And Veterans Day - late afternoon breaking news.

Fifty thousand have now signed up for obamacare. It is no longer known as obamacare by...obama himself.

That's about 900,000 less than they predicted at this time. No way they will make it to their stated goal.

No way, in his feeble attempt to help those millions losing their insurance (predestined on purpose by his side!) can they now keep their insurance.

Once a baby is out, you cannot shove it back in. Sorry! These policies are canceled, gone, no longer exist.

Obamacare is imploding libs. It's worse than a train wreck. Meanwhile, people are left without their own insurance and just might have needed that insurance in the interim between...between what? I don't know. Neither does anyone else.

And the sticker shock hasn't even hit totally yet because on the website, they keep it a carefully guarded secret until the very end.

Ted Cruz tried to warn you libs.

PLEASE READ COMPLETELY, maybe you will understand it's the insurance companies again pulling the normal crap. I copied this from ABC, hope this is lawful. Sorry if it isn't.

But already 3.5 million Americans have had their healthcare plans cancelled, according to the Associated Press. Most of these are individuals who purchased plans directly from insurers, rather than through a workplace. The reason for the cancellations: their plans changed since the signing of the new healthcare law. While Obama was promising that you could keep your plan if you purchased it prior to the signing of the law on March 23, 2010, what he didn't say was that if a provider changed the plan its grandfather status would become void.

Since individual plans change frequently, the chances of individuals being able to keep their plans was always low. In fact, buried in Obamacare regulations dating back to 2010 is a Health and Human Services estimate that 40 to 67 percent of individual plan owners would lose that coverage because of normal turnover in the individual market.
Thank you for reading and I hope you have a better understanding of the Affordable Care Act.

Never buy car insurance again?

Depending on where you live, you may be able to cruise the streets without auto insurance -- and you won't be breaking any laws.

In some states -- such as California, Tennessee, Washington, Texas and Ohio -- it's perfectly legal to skip carrying car insurance if you can prove you have the financial ability to cover liability costs if you get in a wreck. And if you live in New Hampshire, you don't even need to prove your financial fitness.

Please show me where I said License? We were talking about Auto Insurance and the lack of requirements in some states. Nice to see you glossed over the whole Choice Vs Forced discussion. If I do not drive on the roads, or own a car, I do not need a Drivers License issued by any state, Nor am I required to pay any fine for not having said license. Why is Health Insurance any different?

@Anson:
A Bond of Financial Responsibility is not Auto Insurance. Thank you for making my point. I also find it funny I keep being referenced as having a Far Right leaning political stance. I do lean to the right, but it's called Libertarian. We are Plotting to take over the world and leave you alone.

Wow. Talk about a serious reading comprehension problem. Why did you mention relatives in KS having to have a drivers license? Nowhere in his comment did he make any mention of drivers license requirements at all.

Nice try at changing the focus though. Unless you really did not understand what you were reading. I am leaning toward that conclusion.

Not fundamentally correct, but we’re used to that from righties. All states require financial responsibility to operate a vehicle on the roadway and will allow the posting of a bond (as high as $250,000) in lieu of purchasing car insuance. A few states allow drivers to pay a fee (as high as $500) to register a car without insurance, though the fee does not exempt them from financial responsibility requirements.

So much for left wing spins on Edie Sundby’s insurance policies.

Although Kool Aide Consumers describe her insurance as “does not provide the basic requirements of health insurance making it substandard, “We have to remember those are the words of pundits trying to sugar coat, justify and cover-up for a lousy President and a catastrophic control over 20% of the U.S. economy and power grab at the medical policies, medical care to justify the skim off the top of this mandatory tax.

Ms. Sundby didn’t/doesn’t need comprehensive insurance to cover eyewear, abortions, flu shots, tennis elbow, splinter and ingrown toenail removal.

The shrill left declares all these coverage, and more, necessary for everyone, I submit, they don’t know what’s best for us anymore than I know what’s best for them aside from minding their own business.

Ms. Sundby is in the fight of her life. She chose the policy that was best for her, her finances and the best chance at beating or holding at bay, stage 4 cancers.

So often we hear about a woman’s “Right to Choose.” When in reality the liberal wants to give women rights to choose what the liberal Wants Them To Choose.

Hypocrites all

“HER POLICY YOU LEFTIES CALL SUBSTANDARD PAID $12 MILLION ON HER CARE WITHOUT BATTING AN EYE!!!”

Why do you post such obvious falsehoods? Honestly, have you no pride?

Her policy, BTW, is a catastrophic health care policy that does not provide the basic requirements of health insurance making it substandard – by anyone’s standards. Again, why do you insist upon being misled by such trash instead of actually checking out the claims made by loons?

How do I know this - because last November, when profiled in The AARP Magazine, we were told that Sundby was covered by a catastrophic health care plan that covered 80% of the cost of her cancer treatment, but nothing towards basic health issues.

Rich, so what are you whining about? You got to keep the plan you had and liked, just as Obama said you could.

As for "substandard" insurance which pays for little, to keep those kind of policies in force would be a conflict of interest. It does no good for EVERYONE to have health insurance if these substandard policies continue to throw people off their plan, don't pay for preventative services, doctor visits, etc. That would lead to the continuation of insurance companies not paying hospitals, doctors, etc. and picking and choosing what they will and will not pay for, leaving those unpaid bills for the people who may not be able to pay for those services. This is why our hospital bills are so high right now - to make up the difference for people or insurance companies who cannot, or will not, pay for medical services rendered.

We get it - you hate Obama and everything Democratic and you have used your status as "Editor" to spew your hatred every chance you could. You remind me of a Limbaugh/Beck wannabe.

I’d loan you my unicorn but I need it to hunt Grey Wolves.

My crystal ball is over 20 years living and serving in foreign crappy countries and working with their doctors they sometimes sent to the states to learn basics.

These doctors work on our military but we watch them so they can’t accidentally kill a serviceman.

One serviceman was diagnosed by Kenyan psychologist as being “Possessed by Witches.”

That’s representative of generational socialized medicine and Medical schools.

Their medical system’s completely collapsing...and Kenyans blame America. Don’t ask why.

It’s funny that liberals swear on global warming bibles when actual proof is opposite but when given simple logic and math they can’t compute.

Doctors are quitting. Legislation is coming to force doctors to take patients the government chooses.

More hours, less money, mountains of paper work and mandated government fee schedules to take what ObamaCare will cover/pay.

Fewer people attracted to the field, standards dropped on schooling due to student shortages, more grants, ect.

Would you go to school for an extra decade, accrue major debt, controlled by the government and receive little pay?

Intelligent people won’t.

That leaves dumb people as our future doctors.

Yah ObamaCare!

Got witches?
