Letter: Dual citizenship

Danny Baker writes in the Nov. 14 Miner that Ted Cruz should be considered a communist, because he was born in Canada and his father was a Cuban.

Ted Cruz was born in Canada, but he was also an American citizen. This is very common to have dual citizenship, much like John McCain, who was born in the Panama Canal zone.

This continual spouting of misinformation has got to stop. Before you go bad-mouthing some politician who doesn't fit your agenda, get you facts straight.

From what we are seeing today, I think it was Mr. Obama who lied to us, not Ted Cruz!

"We should clean house on all of them with very few exceptions."

Jimi, you are right on. The problem is you can't convince people to stop voting for an ideology and that's the problem for all parties involved. Additionally, everybody on the "Hill", will tell you anything in order not to look bad to their "Party" because it may damage their career. We need to get back to the basic's and elect "proven" leaders with some form of military leadership preferred. Not irritates me more than hearing all these pundits (all parties and media types) even talk about the military when they actually have no idea since they never served. Now quit applying logic here, it's not allowed.

[quote] "This was the State Department policy statement as it affected McCain's dual citizenship during his run for President."

This is a State department policy and has no bearing on the constitutionality of their "policy", until the Supreme court rules it so!

More liberal indoctrination!

"What does it matter anyway? The Republican voters will not nominate him. He`s just another Hispanic, African American, and woman they will parade out first to (try and) disprove stereotypes."

Wrong, the Republican establishment will not nominate Cruz because he is a conservative, Tea Party, favorite.

The principles, (small government, less spending, less regulations), Cruz follows is as damaging to the continued acclimation of wealth and power for the Republicans as it is for the Democrats.

the choice will boil down to 1. do you want a NWO puppet who will first tell you what you want to hear, then sell your rear ends down the river, or 2. someone who - like John Kennedy - will stand against these monsters, and get himself killed? Minus a constitutional convention or military overthrow, those are your choices.

I agree with Rick O’Shea.

We should clean house on all of them with very few exceptions.

We should end the careers of most of them and not allow someone to spend their whole working life as a spoiled, entitled and corrupt public servant.

Only they don’t consider themselves public servants anymore.

They consider the American citizen the servants.

Complain about Obama Care as much as you like but RINO’s like Johnny McCain had government controlled medical care and government controlled pharmacies, (coming soon) underlined and in bold, on their “Dream Boards” since Hillary tried to pass it during Bill’s presidency.

You’ve heard this all before but it sure would be good to reign in these power obsessed jerks.

At least vote out a good bunch of them and send a message…but they’ve created such a rivalry among us, we’ll never join together against the fraud, thievery, abuse and corruption.

People use that term “Divide and Conquer,” lightly and commonly as the phrase “Have a good day.” But for those people that seek to keep power, it’s a prevailing mantra.

No, it’s more than that. It’s a business plan.

It’s corporate policy.

We’ve already been divided. Let’s not get conquered.

I think the most amusing interview I saw was a comedian interviewing a elderly white lady, asked her if she thought Obama was foreign born she said yes, asked did this make him ineligible for being president she said yes! Then asked did she know Ted Cruz was born in Canada, she said no, did it make him ineligible for president she said no, since Canada was almost part of USA anyway! She did not even contemplate how hypocritical her statement was nor seemed to comprehend it! I find the most ironic thing many who post here praising Cruz denigrated Obama for foreign birth and the only one of the two who was truly born outside the USA was Cruz! It is obvious what these folks real inner demon is, but guess they will have to explain that one to Jesus when they meet him as we all must do one day!

I think I will go with a person who lies and has the guts to tell us he/she lied, Captain. I don't know if the other guy has lied or not..Let him swear to us that he hasn't.

How is Ted Cruz' situation different than President Obama's?
Mr. Obama was born in Hawaii to an American Citizen. Even if he had been born in a foreign country as some of you claim, he would still be a citizen based on his mother.
Some of you have spent the last 5 years claiming that Mr. Obama isn't eligible for the presidency yet you don't see the similarities here.

This was the State Department policy statement as it affected McCain's dual citizenship during his run for President.

"Despite widespread popular belief, U.S. military installations abroad and U.S. diplomatic or consular facilities are not part of the United States within the meaning of the 14th Amendment. A child born on the premises of such a facility is not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States and does not acquire U.S. citizenship by reason of birth."

Meaning that McCain's citizenship qualifying him as "Natural born" would similarly apply to Barack Obama and Ted Cruz in EXACTLY the same way.

Again, quoting State Department:
A child born abroad to one U.S. citizen parent and one alien parent acquires U.S. citizenship at birth under Section 301(g) of the INA provided the U.S. citizen parent was physically present in the United States or one of its outlying possessions for the time period required by the law applicable at the time of the child's birth. For birth between December 24, 1952 and November 13, 1986, a period of ten years, five after the age of fourteen, is required for physical presence in the United States or one of its outlying possessions to transmit U.S. citizenship to the child.

Kock, I think you need to reread Glens letter as he said Obama lied. Don't you agree Obama lied...PERIOD....so who you going to believe, a proven liar or someone who has no history of lying?

I agree Glenn so let's just say both sides lie (Demos being worse at it with Obama's guidance) and kick both party's out on their butt.

“Danny Baker writes in the Nov. 14 Miner that Ted Cruz should be considered a communist, because he was born in Canada and his father was a Cuban.”

That is not correct. Mr Baker made no such claim regarding Canada (aka Rafael) Ted being a Communist. That political distinction is held by his father, a Castro supporting Cuban Communist.

“This is very common to have dual citizenship…”

Actually holding dual citizenship is not “very common.” Statistics show that less than 1% of Americans hold dual citizenship.

However, that distinction is not important. What is important is that for over five years we have put up with the birthers making ridiculous claims about the presidents right to hold office based on utter stupid conspiracy garbage (see “A Trip to Birtherville” blog for further edification).

Now they are supporting and backing a Canadian (complete with Canadian birth certificate) son of a Cuba Communist. And of course Canada (aka Rafael) Ted had demonstrated his disdain for the United States by his wasting $24 billion dollars on his foolishness while personally pocketing over a million dollars.

Now the birthers will claim that its okay for Cruz, born in Canada, to be considered for president while conveniently omitting all the yammering about Obama who was actually born in the USA. Hypocrites as always.

The Panama Canal zone was considered US soil, Canada is not. Not eligible, period. What does it matter anyway? The Republican voters will not nominate him. He`s just another Hispanic, African American, and woman they will parade out first to (try and) disprove stereotypes.
