Mitt Romney and other endorsements

If recent polls are accurately capturing the nation's mood, America's fling with hope and change will end after four years of anemic economic performance, high unemployment, shuttered storefronts, much more expensive health care, lower household income and a national debt so high it's difficult to comprehend.

America was eager for Barack Obama to succeed when he took office in 2009. It didn't work out. There were hints that the economy was rebounding after passage of an $800 billion stimulus, but it never moved beyond that point. If anything, the numbers have gotten worse in recent months. There is talk of the U.S. sliding into another recession.

Mitt Romney offers an alternative, one that sees Americans - not their government - as the machine that drives this country. As a successful businessman, he knows that success in the private sector doesn't come because of government programs, that in many cases business succeeds despite the government.

Romney has also pledged to do away with the Affordable Care Act, a bill that already costs twice as much as promised (about $2 trillion) at a time when annual deficits exceed $1 trillion and the national debt exceeds $16 trillion - up from around $10 trillion when Obama took office.

America can't afford four more years with Barack Obama in the White House. The Miner endorses Mitt Romney for president.

This year more than any other in recent memory, voters need to think of party affiliation as part of a team effort. In this case, Republicans Jeff Flake for U.S. Senate and Paul Gosar for U.S. House of Representative District 4 must go to Washington with Romney because they will vote to do away with ObamaCare.

For that reason alone, the Miner endorses Jeff Flake and Paul Gosar.

The Miner also offers these viewpoints on two ballot questions.

Proposition 116, the Small Business Job Creation Act, would dramatically lower the tax obligations businesses (including agriculture) pay for equipment and machinery.

The proposition has wide-ranging support across the state and is viewed as a measure that could help create thousands of new jobs in Arizona. No one bothered to submit in writing to the secretary of state's office an argument against the measure.

The Miner wholeheartedly endorses Proposition 116.

Proposition 204 would make the temporary state sales tax rate of 6.6 percent enacted in 2010 permanent rather than let it expire on May 31. It's a bad idea, and it was a bad idea to raise it from 5.6 percent two years ago in a down economy.

Voters should increase their own buying power rather than give state government even more money to play with. The Miner recommends voting no on Proposition 204.

Wow! Can you believe it? I guess it could of been real ugly had the GOP selected Petraeus as their candidate! I suppose the Miner would of endorsed him to!

http://formerspook.blogspot.com/2009/10/petraeus-in-2012.html

"With a dearth of “name” candidates to lead the Republican ticket in 2012 (other than Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney), many in the GOP would gladly support a Petraeus candidacy, despite his lack of political experience and organization."

Maybe the Miner needs some new researchers!

"probably lost the popular vote"

Having just looked at the latest tallies....unless something really strange happens in Fl, and that IS possible, Obama will win the popular vote too. Even get over 50% most likely. Know what that means? That means more than half of the people in the US want him there.

“And just where do you think BILL CLINTON was during Viet Nam???”

Clinton was a Rhodes Scholar attending university in England – a proper deferment, not some phony crap where you get to run away and knock on doors to annoy people. BTW – Chinton had been against the war where Willard the Money Hider supported the war, until it came close to time for his to actually serve his natin.

“What about BO's lack of military experience!!”

Let’s see he was 14 during the height of the Vietnam War? Kinda hard to join up at 14. But notice that no Romney has ever served their nation.

“If he wins this election you'll be living a socialist communist life and it won't matter who did what when and where.”

He won, God willed it and you are wrong.

Congratulations liberals. You got your POTUS for four more years it looks like.

All counties red, probably lost the popular vote, barely wins the electoral college - smallest of any second termer - no mandate and 30 Republican Governors. 70% said they don't like the economy - voted him in anyway. The House still Republican, Senate Dem - four more yrs of gridlock.

A POTUS still never proven to even be a citizen, lied from day one, Libya cover up, storm handled horribly, both hidden by liberal press.

So apparently unemployment higher after four yrs of o, 16 T in debt, half the country on food stamps, least amount in the work force in yrs, country divided is what you libs wanted. Enjoy your slide into socialism.

We have no morality left in America, gay marriage, abortioin on demand, marijuana ok. Lies from the White House. if you think the last four were hard, wait for the next four. You might wish after God gets thru with you, you had seen the light a little earlier but your choice.

I have an early medical procedure tomorrow and won't be able to write so adios. In the short time I have left, I am not letting the lying POTUS steal one more minute of my life. You will have to watch him systematically destroy the greatest country on earth without me. Don't bother responding to me - I won't be reading it.

My prayers to the Romneys, the most decent family to come along in a very long time.

The Fat Lady has finished singing, and the American have spoken. The American people obviously do not like the idea of the rich running the country. Good or Bad, Obama is the Man, no more lies from either side. We can now get back to a peaceful Nation.

Chuckles:

Romney is known for being a workaholic - probably Maddow and Media Matters have never reported that huh? Or Huffpo? He is loaded with energy - just watch him bound up stairs at 65 years old.

I suggest you too go to a search engine and put in You Tube Conservatism is Calling.

Maybe seeing the entire truth using obama's own words will make you see the light.

My three sons were not in the military. One had a brain injury, another one didn't try to join and probably had a couple of things that would have denied him but the third one simply went to college. No war was on or he probably would have joined. He is not only not a coward, he got three degrees and teaches children Science and is one of the best teachers I have seen. He took a 50% pay cut to teach Science - was a higher up in a big company prior to that.

To me, he serves. Not every single person serves in the military including the obama you love. He never tried, cut into his gay bar routine and snorting maybe? My teacher son never drank or smoked, attended church routinely and is a model citizen with a wonderful marriage and child. No divorces, no government help, lost their first child, took care of his mother in law with long bout with cancer. Again, a model citizen - no military service.

I hope Conservatism Is Calling gets you on the right track finally.

My bumper sticker says: "My son
wants to become president. I told
him to aim higher".
In international pre-election talk
shows, the Chinese was asked
whom he would prefer to see
elected. Answer: Henry Kissinger.
It was a Republican spin doctor
who pushed open the door for
Chinese wealth dominated in
American dollars, the transfer of
millions of US jobs to undercutting
Chinese sweat mills. Instead of
quality steel America exports
scrap metal.
But don't worry about the 16trillion
debt burden. States do not get
bankrupt, never. They let their
creditors go bankrupt. Obamas
debt increase was the only way
to postpone the coming deflation.
What else could Mitt Romney do ?

I'm sorry Linda. Anyone that "CHOSES" not to serve our country "IS A COWARD"! Unless they have a viable reason (Medical, Felons, Drugs), not to serve is a coward. Religion, College, and others are not reasons, just excuses. I know plenty of "MEN & WOMEN" that served and were still able to get Master Degrees, some with more than one. I would like to see an Amendment to the Constitution that makes it a requirement in order to run for office. PERIOD!

"Mitt not serving in the military doesn't make him a coward."

You are correct there. However, protesting in favor of the Vietnam War, then taking deferrments and hiding in France instead of serving in a war he protested in favor of does make him a coward.

And as for him saving the Olympics, sure he did. By begging the government for OUR money.

This is the man that you want sending our troops into "BATTLE", (If he wins). He has no credibility. OBAMA is no better and both are liers!

Saw it:

You sure don't know Mitt Romney. He is known for physical labor and hard work. In fact, it is a known fact it is hard to even slow him down. He wears everyone around him out.

Did you happen to know, when he pulled the Olympics out, he liked the looks of that sled you lay on and go thru the tube - sorry, no big olympics fan here, forget the name of it.

So with no fanfare, he got in it and tubed down, then again and again until he was going 70 mph. That is how he is. Fun loving, daring, hard working. They sled and skate, ride horses. And he is no spring chicken but about 65 years old.

Obama is known for his laziness. Why do you think he doesn't show up for work until mid morning? Parties at night, sleeps late. Bush was there about 6 to 7 AM. Mitt will be too.

So you got it real wrong. Mitt wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth, he worked hard to get where he got. You do realize he has several degrees, graduated with honors? Worked for his dough like his father before him.

“.....you didn't address Obama bowing before the Chinese, who are not royalty ..”

Those of us who have traveled beyond the local 7-11 understand the cultural conventions of Asian nations where bowing is the norm.

“… but again - I never have seen photos of any other U.S. President bowing.”

Well the fact you have done no research is not my problem, but finding the photos are not a problem, one can be found here - http://i449.photobucket.com/albums/qq220… showing Nixon bowing towards the Japanese emperor.

There are also photos of Eisenhower bowing before Charles DeGaulle, Bush the First bowing at the casket of Hirohito the Emperor of Japan, the above cited Nixon moment and Clinton bowing towards Akihito.

As to The Criminal playing kissie face and holding hands with the Saudi – “boys will be boys” in your world, but those images are just creepy.

@Anson's Nephew.....you didn't address Obama bowing before the Chinese, who are not royalty, and I suspect he would bow before Chavez in Venezuela if there was a Quran around (if not, maybe he'd look for that 'special' glimmer in the other man's eye). Anyway, I would be interested if you provided any links whatsoever to photos showing Nixon, Eisenhower, or Truman bowing to Khruschev, Breschnev, or Andropov (let alone others). Bush may have held hands and kissed ol' Abdullah (hey, boys will be boys in the Arab world - I spent time there, and I know), but again - I never have seen photos of any other U.S. President bowing.

Last I looked, GM was GM. Matters not if it's Vauxhaul, Holden, Opal, or GMC.

We (yes I said WE because my Tax revenue went to them) Bailed out GM as a corp. entity. Not one little USA sector in a dying city in Michigan. GM as a whole, foreign holdings and all. Losses across a corporate ledger are still losses, no matter how you spin Obama's failed plan.
