Guest Column: John McCain and his sycophant, Jeff Flake
Jan E. Freeman
Golden Valley Resident

I believe that one of the most dangerous words in the English language is "bi-partisanship" - code for one side ceding its ideals to the other party that is favored by the media. James Madison, the most significant of the three authors of the federalist papers, detested any such compromise. He felt that Americans must have what is now called "partisanship" in order to maintain their principles and have an actual choice when selecting candidates.

Since the Democratic Party currently has its choice in control of our government and our country, what, exactly, does the Republican Party stand for these days? The answer, unfortunately, is absolutely nothing! Republicans are so busy bending over backward in the name of "bipartisanship" with the unyielding liberal-progressive Democrat Party, they make young Olympic gymnasts look old and stiff in comparison!

Prime examples of our current misguided Republican leadership includes John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Marco Rubio, John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, Jeff Flake and Eric Cantor. The new crop of truly great conservative/constitutionalists such as Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and Tim Scott are tragically few and far between.

Because I am a resident of Arizona, I feel totally qualified to speak in particular of Senators McCain and Flake.

McCain: Our arrogant, pompous Sen. McCain has a split personality. When he is running for office, he speaks "conservatese" with the best of them. Why, one would think he was there at the signing of the Declaration of Independence! He trashes his opponents (the last one, conservative ex-Congressman J.D. Hayworth) as if they were axe murderers. Then he gets back to Washington and turns into the Republican version of Teddy Kennedy. When he deigns to return to Arizona for town hall meetings, he treats some of his constituents in nasty, condescending terminology, calling those who disagree with him "wacko birds."

Mr. McCain has been riding that "war hero horse" long enough. Thank you for your service, senator, now "dismount" and go back to Sedona!

Flake: This man deceived Arizonans about being a conservative/constitutionalist. He went to Washington and became a cowardly sycophant of McCain's. He will be, god willing, a one-term senator.

At this point, the RINOs who are hopefully reading my letter are asking themselves, "well exactly what does this (horrible!) woman want from us?" I shall in my own magnificent manner tell you what I want:

Spine: Grow one!!!

Principles: Develop some! Go back to what the Republican Party once stood for, i.e., individualism, capitalism, high morals, private property rights, low taxes and a genuine belief in our creator. You have alienated millions of us, especially those whom you call "the religious right." We believe in principles; you do not. You are nothing more than Democrat-light. We also believe in the sovereignty of our country and its borders, which leads me to:

Immigration Reform: just how many times are we the people going to have to tell you about our objections to yet another of your amnesty bills? Read the bill, Republicans! It has no teeth in it to punish violations. Why should it? It was mostly written by La Raza ("the race"), a radical Hispanic group that dreams of taking back the entire Southwest for Mexico. Mark Levin, famed attorney, author and radio talk show host, came up with the best idea yet. He actually researched the Mexican constitution and its immigration policies. They are draconian, to say the least, so Mark says that we should emulate Mexico. All we need to do in order to get our sovereignty restored is to just slap a title page on their constitution that reads "United States of America Immigration Reform Bill." Problem solved!

Obamacare: James Madison also warned Congress against writing "voluminous" bills. Nowadays it seems all bills are in excess of 1,000 pages. This particular bill is an absolute disaster. The American people do not want it enacted, and the House of Representatives needs to defund it no later than September's continuing resolution. The Republicans must fight it every opportunity they get until we can get rational people elected to congress and the presidency.

The IRS: This abomination needs to be abolished and replaced with either a flat or fair tax. The current scandal in which conservative groups have been isolated with Gestapo-like tactics is unconscionable, and all the employees involved should be summarily fired and castigated by this country's media. (Shall we hold our collective breath?)

Are we a "nation of immigrants?" I detest this divisive phrase! After over 200 years of history, I contend we are a "nation of Americans." All of us, no matter what color or race we are, are first and foremost Americans, and this is a moniker we should all be proud of and never apologize for to any nation on earth.

Gangs of 8, 12, whatever! These so-called "gangs" do nothing more than usurp the rights of the people's duly elected representatives of all those states whose officials were not included in any such inane "gangs." How childish!

Resolve these endless controversies! Contrary to what president Obama says, these are not "phony." Are the people who died phony? I think not. The administration is spending almost all of its time wagging the dog, whining about said phony scandals.

These people make Bill Clinton look like an amateur! We want and deserve the answers to fast and furious, Benghazi, the IRS mess, Fort Hood and the military's purposeful blindness, etc. The list of controversies seems endless. Never let a good crisis go to waste, I guess.

Side note on Fox News Channel: Rupert Murdock has turned this once-interesting TV network into a soap opera channel akin to his failed British "yellow sheet" newspaper. Tedious and boring for the most part, Fox should now banner itself as "all soaps all the time." Their much more numerous liberals are more vicious than ever, as Tamara Holder demonstrated recently on Hannity when she called all Republicans "fat asses." We conservatives would salivate over an "all conservatives all the time" network. Hey! Maybe we could bring in Mark Levin and bring back Glenn Beck!

Millions of Americans like me wonder if our country will ever recover from this soft tyranny. I have often said we are experiencing the fall of the American empire. I view most Democrats as members of "the Borg" from Star Trek, as they all think alike and do and say the same things. Republicans, on the other hand, are like a circular firing squad!

So, do we have any hope? Well, help arrived Aug. 14 in the form of Mark Levin's new book, "The Liberty Amendments: Restoring the American Republic." If you, like me, want to find a way to save our Republic and our country, flock to Amazon and bookstores all over America and make this a national best-seller the New York Times cannot ignore. Let's send hackneyed phrases like we are the world and it takes a village to the dustbin of history and bring back God, honor, rugged individualism, and patriotism to our nation's vocabulary.

And may God once again bless the United States of America.

"I have stated many times that when the right wing shouting heads – Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Beck, Malkin, Ingraham, Levine, Savage, Coulter, Miller, et al – cease the name-calling so will I."

When you state it as fact, it's pretty easy to "know" things about you. "When Joey stops breaking windows, then so will I!"

And there's that "rightie" thing again...you don't know my personal beliefs or voting record...so why do you assume such things?

Btw...have you talked to the LHC council about why they spent money to go to some second rate conference yet?

Yep and as long as the darlings of the right wing keep doing it, so will I.

Suggestion – stop reading my comments. Problem solved.

Crazy how Anon Anon invokes Strom Thurmond. It's even crazier how minorities came to vote for the party that founded the KKK!

"The Ku Klux Klan was formed as a social club by a group of Confederate Army veterans in Pulaski, Tennessee in the winter of 1865-66. The group adopted the name Ku Klux Klan from the Greek word "kyklos". The Klan quickly became a terrorist organization in service of the Democratic Party and white supremacy. Between 1869 and 1871 its goal was to destroy Congressional Reconstruction by murdering blacks -- and some whites -- who were either active in Republican politics or educating black children."

There has always been racists in both parties. But southern Dems were the ones that demanded Segregation for 100 years after the Civil War.

And again --- A/Nephew is still just calling names and throwing insults. Again, no facts to re-but column? Makes you wonder if Anon Anon and A/N are the same person

“Just like a little kid who says ‘Well, Joey broke the first window!’ he justifies his actions based on those of others.”

Once again I am stunned by how some rightie “knows” how I justify my actions. Where do you righties come up with that nonsense? I actually thought you were above that FLS tripe, Victor.

The republican party has two mill stones hung around their necks one hung there in 1960's when they adopted them angry segregationists such as ole Strom Thurmond from us democrats, who still dream of a return to segregation/JIm Crow, and the latest one the Tea Party who believe blowing up the government will somehow not be anarchy! Poor John McCain might have won but he was saddled with the pit pull with lip stick!

“Ansons nephew - You do not impress or win anyone over with your childish name-calling.”

I have never attempted to “impress” nor “win anyone over” with my posting of the truth and facts. As to “name-calling” I have stated many times that when the right wing shouting heads – Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Beck, Malkin, Ingraham, Levine, Savage, Coulter, Miller, et al – cease the name-calling so will I.

“Using as an excuse that someone else did it too only makes you look even more childish.”

That is your opinion and I do not subscribe to it.

“I know you could appear intelligent if you really wanted to.”

Since I am intelligent I have no need to “appear” intelligent.

Agree completely!
Funny how someone who is always saying He was elected twice, accept it, live with it, etc. etc etc., can seem to accept and live with the fact that Bush was also.
The difference of course is that like Clinton, Bush is old news. Obama is wreaking havoc as we speak (or type).

You do not impress or win anyone over with your childish name-calling. Perhaps, a kinder, gentler Anson would be more successful at getting his point across. Using as an excuse that someone else did it too only makes you look even more childish. I know you could appear intelligent if you really wanted to.

"Syria will have hidden everything he might have wanted hit like the means to distribute gas."

Just like Saddam hid all his WND's. Yep, I'm convinced. I find it completely interesting what we are seeing here, "Republicans", along with the Democrats speaking of the betrayal of Bush falsely bringing America to two wars. Imagine that.

Schmo:

First, you pre-judge the book, calling it fiction. Having followed both writers, it would certainly be a swerve in the opposite direction to start making things up.

If obama has committed impeachable offenses, why would you be against his impeachment? If it were a Republican doing so, I would support it. My country first...

Just watched obama's backdown speech. Unbelievable, amazing, astonishing, just a couple of adjectives used by commentators including Andrea Mitchell.

Having put out the redline remark, never made plans in case they crossed it, he has now gotten everything backasswards. With England saying NO to their PM, obama chickens out, now puts it on Congress to bail him out.

His statement, it doesn't matter WHEN we do it, days...even months away...as if the whole world and especially Syria will just go on hold waiting for him. Meanwhile, Syria will have hidden everything he might have wanted hit like the means to distribute gas.

Kerry's bold presidential looking speech was a call to arms. Just hours later, obama says we are going to act....but sometime later on....after my trip to Russia, blah blah blah.

He has emboldened the enemy and embarrassed us.

If you want to spend your hard earned money on the impeachment book, be my guest. I just hope you find it in the fiction section of your local bookstore.

Regarding Syria, I'm not sure how we made that leap, but I believe there is nothing to be gained by shooting a few cruise missles over there. War is a terrible thing no matter who it kills, regardless of religion. Our best move is to encourage both sides to end that war.

“How does Ted Cruz/Jan Freeman at the top of the ticket sound in 2016?”

It sounds utterly ridiculous that a sworn birther would even consider putting a Canadian born (complete with Canadian Birth Certificate), son of a Cuban Communist on the ballot for president of the United States, but hypocrisy has long been the watchword of the righties. You have to love the Texas birther who said she does not believe Canada is a foreign nation.

It is a moot point anyway because Cruz WILL NOT be the Republiscum nominee in 2016. The full quadrennial clown show as put forth by the Republiscums has yet to get underway, so it is difficult to actually predict which loser they will trot out this time – but I’m confident we can look forward to Rick Perry making a fool of himself (again), Lil Newtie Gingrich cashing in as usual and of course Ron Paul just being silly. We will not see Crazy Eyes Bachmann, Herman “Lady Killer” Cain or Willard the Money Hider coming back, but equally ridiculous wannabes will surface.

One thing for certain – we can look forward to many, many laughs as the Clown Show once again hits the road.

"These killed all appear to be muslims however, people who hate us."

Yes, of course, all Muslims hate everyone non-Muslim. That's why we have many fine doctors and business owners here in Kingman who worship at the mosque (You did know we have one didn't you?) right on Airway. I see them all the time spouting hate speech about others. Oh wait, no I don't...that all seems to come from the far-right christians among us.

“Common sense, FACTS and liberals don't go in the same sentence together.”

This from a birther – now that is FUNNY!

“Noone ever wants people killed with gas. … These killed all appear to be muslims however, people who hate us.”

Again - who is this is “noone” guy? As to Muslims you have said for years now they all need to die anyway so you should be ecstatic.

“And yet, hundreds and thousands of Christians are being slaughtered constantly in the Middle East and Africa…”

Usual hyperbolic nonsense.

“So he will risk war for Muslims, do nothing for Christians, people of the very religion we were founded on. It speaks VOLUMES!”

Still wrong, no matter how many times you post it – 1) The president is not risking “war for Muslims.” 2) We were not founded as a Christian nation. Usual garbage, different day.

Would it be more sensible to wait until the impeachment book comes out, read it, then make a decision on it's contents? Oh wait, you're liberal. Common sense, FACTS and liberals don't go in the same sentence together.

You won't get this one either. The big machismo has tremulously spoken. Seems Syria cared little about his red line remark so he will be forced from behind to cruise a few tomahawks into Libya. He hasn't realized yet, those red line remarks only carry weight when given by someone with cajones.

Noone ever wants people killed with gas. EVER! These killed all appear to be muslims however, people who hate us.

And yet, hundreds and thousands of Christians are being slaughtered constantly in the Middle East and Africa by the muslims and NOT A WORD out of Obama. Christians are beaten, murdered, burned, raped, 63 churches burned in just the last couple weeks.

Muslim persecution on Christians is in Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Sudan, Nigeria, Turkmenistan, South Africa, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Pakistan, Kashmir and Mali. WH SILENT!

So he will risk war for Muslims, do nothing for Christians, people of the very religion we were founded on. It speaks VOLUMES!

As usual, a couple of people on the Left made comments stating that corporations run the country, and somehow that means they are behind the conservative Republicans. Please, keep up on your reading. The likes of Bill Gates and George Soros are Obama supporters. Soros even wrote two books on the post-capitalist society. They are getting rich playing ball with big government. The RINOs get their share of the goodies as well, if they play along with the super rich anti-capitalists.

This is one of the best written articles that sums up what I feel as well. The Repubs have turned on the conservatives of the U.S. As time goes on liberals will find, as they are now, that the system they created through their faith in Obama will fail miserably. One group that will be hit most hard will be students. They will not be part of the "poor", they will be part time workers being hit with penalties if they are not covered by health insurance. Not all parents have medical insurance as full time work will be scarce as corporations are changing their practices on health care, so the "child on parent's medical insurance till 26" will cause many problems.

Jan, don't just write a great letter, run for office. Put your words into action. The Republican Party might become the party of the past but conservatives and constitutionalists can create a stronger, national party that stands up for what your article said. I will vote for you or anyone that has your way of thinking. Maybe just maybe we can save our country from disaster.

Bi-partisanship is simple finding common ground the alternative is non-co-operation and if both sides of two groups are unable to find common ground then one has the old Mexican stand off where both sides lose since nothing happens at all!
