Kingman Letter: Obama giving islands to Russia

In 1881, U.S. explorers claimed Jeannette and Henrietta arctic islands for the U.S. when the U.S. Revenue Marine ship Thomas Corwin landed. On board was naturalist John Muir. Also included were Wrangell and Bennett Islands - seven in all.

Russia has claimed them but never really addressed it. They don't have to.

In total secrecy and under the guise of a maritime boundary agreement, the Obama Administration drew the line giving Russia all seven islands. This includes tens of thousands of square miles of surrounding oil rich seabeds translating to billions of barrels of oil

In spite of our economic woes, Obama's oil restriction is famous. He turned down the Keystone Pipeline for no good reason other than donations from environmentalist friends. Oil production in the Middle East will be under Muslim Brotherhood control. And Iraq and Iran. Not much help there.

Alaska, which is known to be completely opposed to this and even has legislation saying so was not included. Neither was any public input. Obama or Clinton either one could still nix this but undoubtedly won't. Perhaps phone calls would help.

Just one more in the long line of efforts by Obama to do all things to weaken America.

Wow! Now you have compared Obama to a serial killer. Nice.

I was somewhat enjoying our little back and forth on here, but after your last remark I am done.

I think maybe you should do some research on this guy you think is so wonderful and don't do it through liberal glasses! Read both sides!
I started studying this guy way before he was elected and just about everything you quoted about him is true.
Please get your head out of the sand and really do some research and you will be shocked and please don't ask me for proof as it is there just find it yourself!
He seems like a nice guy but that is what they said about Bundy! You said a little to the left...wow!....I would say he has fallen over the edge to appease the left voters!

Capt. Nice:

It sounds to me that you have been spending all your time listening to Rush, Faux News, and any other number of other right wingers. You have bought into their ridiculous caricature of President Obama which is far from the real thing. If Obama really was a Kenyan-born, Marxist, socialist, atheist, Muslim usurper who wanted to take away all our guns and our freedom, he wouldn’t get my vote. But he is none of those things. He is an intelligent, cautious, slightly left-of-center president who is not perfect, but has done a pretty decent job given the circumstances he has faced for over three years and the roadblocks thrown at him by the GOP.

But if you want to vote for someone else, you go right ahead. I’m not going to call you a bunch of names because you decide you would rather vote for Romney or whoever.

@ FLS

This one puzzles me, “A word of advice, stick with the same first name. Short version or long.” I use only one name when I write and with three letters there is no “short version or long.”

And for this, “You are still an obnoxious person, but you are what you claim.” Thank you. I take pride in being obnoxious – in fact on the air I call myself the SOB (long version) of the Tri-State and damned proud of it. And your acknowledgement, “ … you are what you claim,” only proves that I will never lie to any of you, about anything, at anytime. Unlike some of the usual suspects here who lie all of the time, about everything.

Forgive me for having such a poor memory, but I can vaguely remember that MANY years ago (20+), I heard or read prominent people warn our citizens that oil, and therefore, gas, would rise to unheard of prices in coming years and that Americans would have to start learning to conserve and alternate energy sources would need to be more fully developed that our clouds would be seeded with aluminum component particles in attempts to control the weather (50+ years), which side effects were not yet then known that we would begin to see super storms in our lifetimes (15 or less years ago), perhaps an cyclical event in our earth's long history. Just thought I would mention these memories of mine to show that maybe some things are not controllable by one President, some things we unintentionally do to ourselves while trying to improve ourselves in another way, and some things are not God reigning down his final judgment on mankind for their "sins" . . . just yet.

@ AN - I appreciate your search for and sharing of facts without becoming blinded by political fervor, as several writers here seem to be.

I'll bet you grew up Democrats and are so hard headed that you would not change your thinking if obama bombed the US.
It is sad that people go through life not seeing the Forrest for the trees....wake up before it is to late, as it is getting closer than you think!
When this country has a revolution between the givers and the takers, what side will you be on? Oh let me guess, your side does not believe citizens should own guns so you will be caught with your hands out empty, expecting the government to take care of you!

I know that this doesn't mesh with your Democrat vs Republican rhetoric, but, most people who identify with the Tea Party weren't thrilled with the policies of Pres. Bush either.

There is a concept you don't seem to be familiar with. It's called, independent thinking. Independent thinkers don't engage in group think. They evaluate the facts of each situation for them selves and form their own opinions. I know, doing one's own thinking and evaluation sounds like a lot of work. It is much easier to parrot talking points and ascribe a predetermined set of characteristics to large groups of people. But once you try to engage in some independent thought, you'll see that it is not as overwhelming as it may seem.

Linda:

Bush got blamed because he was president at the time, not because he had any control over the prices. Don't you think that if Presidents Bush or Obama could control the gas price they would? Obviously they can't. We have more supply than ever and the prices are still going up due to a variety of factors including increased demand elsewhere, and speculation on the worldwide oil markets. The closure or opening of one BP oil well alone is not the cause of the price fluctuations.

“Evidently you are happy with paying high prices at the pump …” What happened to the screams from you TeeHee’s when The Criminal was in charge, remember, “THE PRESIDENT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HIGH GAS PRICES!” Suddenly the president is somehow responsible for high gas prices? Hypocrite, they name is TeeHee.

As to this line, “I guess that goes for the people who depend (sic) on their 18 wheelers to make a living or anyone else who depends on their vehicle for a living.” Well, that one doesn’t even bear a response other than posting it again.

And this is just sad, “… and yes, I'm an old guy and would vote for a flower pot over obama (sic)!” With age is supposed to come knowledge and reason.

And finally enjoy the next 4+ years as Obama continues to lead us out of the economic morass created by the only convicted criminal to ever be appointed to the White House.

Perhaps you can explain why Bush was always blamed when gas prices went up and

how is it when Obama declared driilling again after the BP incident, prices dropped immediately.

@Capt. Nice:

Here’s a list of things that President Obama has accomplished that leads me to believe he is doing a decent job:

The economy is on the mend with lowest jobless claims in four years, oil imports lower and domestic production up in the last three years, in spite of the higher prices. (BTW gas prices peaked around $4 a gallon under Bush as well, and he was an oil man. Presidents have very little control over prices in what is a worldwide marketplace for oil).

Dow Jones is the highest it has been in nearly four years. American auto industry was on verge of collapse three years ago and was saved. Hundreds of thousands of jobs were also saved.

The War in Iraq has been ended with all troops now out of the country. DADT was ended with no negative impact to the troops. No successful terrorist attacks on the country since Obama has been in office. Al Qaeda has been decimated and Osama bin Laden is dead.

Health care reform (which is not a government takeover, but a market-based solution once supported by many Republicans) didn’t go far enough, but still there is no more refusal of coverage of preexisting conditions children can stay on parents insurance until 26 prescription donut hole for seniors was closed more reforms to come.

Considering this list of accomplishments, I will have no problems whatsoever in casting my ballot again for President Obama.

How interesting that you made this comment, “ …and your Facebook page. Funny, I cannot find any mention of any ‘novels’ anywhere, not even at your own page.” I do not have a Facebook page – never have and never will. Now if the web-admin will allow me I will mention the four novels and they can be found on Amazon should you care to check, but they will not show on my Facebook page – BECAUSE I DON’T HAVE A FACEBOOK PAGE! The novels are, “ … and Thursday’s Child…” – “ … Has Far To Go” – “You Can Run” – and “Parkers First-Death Valley Terror.” Oh and BTW there is also, “Trailer Trash – The World of Trailers and Mobile Homes in the Southwest.”

If you think obama is doing a decent job than you and I are on two different planets!
Evidently you are happy with paying high prices at the pump and having a president tell us that we need to buy an economy car. I guess that goes for the people who depend on their 18 wheelers to make a living or anyone else who depends on their vehicle for a living.
How anyone would go from a conservative to a liberal is beyond me. You don't sound like one of the many takers from the left but other than that I cannot understand your doing so.
I started out a Democrat years ago, simply because my parents were FDR lovers but it did not take long to see the errors of their ways and I have been a Republican ever since.
As far as the signs go, my wife and I have made a study of the signs, especially in Phoenix and the Dem's very seldom advertise what party they belong to and never put liberal on their sign (at least I have never seen it) and like you said putting conservative on is popular.
It is to bad you cannot see what liberalism is doing to this country as you don't seem as far gone as some of these misguided letter writers.....and yes, I'm an old guy and would vote for a flower pot over obama!

Actually, it is not a matter of interpretation. The only liberals I know are the ones who write letters.... Is absolutly not the same as only liberals write letters.

By the way, thanks for taking the bait on the travel brochure comment.

One more time, Linda - The deal was struck and signed in 1990 under the direction of The Criminals father nearly two decades before Obama came on the scene. The islands were given to Russia in a maritime agreement approved by the United States State Department and – note this again – signed by George H. W. Bush. The State Department has emphasized, time and time again, that the U.S. has no legal claim to the island – given to the Russians in 1990 by George H. W. Bush. 1990 – George H. W. Bush – nearly two decades before Obama became president. 1990 – George H. W. Bush - 1990 – George H. W. Bush.

Actually I have never written a “travel brochure.” I have, however written three books about Route 66 plus hundreds of articles involving travel along with four novels. And I do not constantly brag about my higher education. I have mentioned that subject a couple of times when challenged.

And I guess it is strictly a matter of interpretation between, “"The only liberals I know are the ones who write letters to the paper" and "only liberals write letters to the paper."

And then there is this one, “… you may find that you would be able to discuss the issues intelligently …” I always find it interesting how often I am attacked on “the issues” when the majority of my posts are simply correcting information posted.

United Nations Helps Giveaway of 8 American Islands to Russia:

To read the entire story from start to finish concerning the 8 islands, I suggest you go to statedepartmentwatch.org where you will understand what happened in the 1990's, etc.

This U.N. scheme is shamelessly presented on the website www.un.org. Its Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf is the agency carrying out this takeaway of American sovereignty.

Aside from the UN, you will see by reading the original articles that we owned all of these islands, that Russia has never legitimately taken possession of these islands and our State Department and Obama can easily put them in our possession.

You really have a problem comprehending the written English language, especially for a travel brochure writer who constantly brags about his higher education.

"The only liberals I know are the ones who write letters to the paper"
does not translate to
"only liberals write letters to the paper"

I hear that MCC offers courses in remedial reading. If you had a better understanding of what other people were communicating you may find that you would be able to discuss the issues intelligently rather than resorting to your usual name calling nonsense.

@Capt Nice:

I have noticed some Republicans do the same thing as far as hiding their party affiliation on their political signs. I remember Ron Gould’s signs when he ran the last time only said “Conservative” and not Republican. Why that’s done I couldn’t tell you, but it might be some kind of electoral strategy.

Personally, I would like to see more non-partisan elections like those that already exist at the municipal level. Why should County-level positions like sheriff or judge or treasurer be a partisan position? Maybe they could attract more good-government type people to run for local office, and save the partisanship for offices at the state and federal levels.

You must be quite a bit older than me if you voted for Kennedy. My first election was in 1984 and I voted for Reagan. That’s right, Reagan. Now I regret that vote today, but at the time it made sense to me. Still Reagan was a far more accomplished politician than anyone in the GOP today. Over time I became more liberal, but the GOP became much, much more conservative to the point that I wonder if Reagan or Bush 41 could even get the nomination today. After all Reagan raised taxes and approved amnesty.

You and I won’t agree on President Obama, as I do think he is doing a decent job. However, even if I had reservations about him, the pickings from this year’s crop of Republicans, with the possible exception of Huntsman who is gone, is so bad I could never vote for any of them.
