Reader Opinion: Parks audit no shocker

The audit of the Arizona State Parks system came as no surprise to those of us who have served as board members, long-time staff and hard-working foundation volunteers.

Thanks to the Brewer administration, with help from Republican controlled legislature, the state park system has been robbed of revenues, deprived of voter-approved designated Heritage Fund monies and limited in its ability to raise revenues to offset expenses.

The staff of the Arizona State Parks has been hard-working and dedicated to the preservation and improvements required for these treasures.

In my experience working with these professionals, I have seen folks who don't know what a 40-hour work week is all about.

To those who worked at the parks, it has always been a 24/7 dedication.

It is time for Gov. Brewer to change her approach of destroying state government and ensure that funds are reinstated and that necessary legislation is passed to give Arizona State Parks the tools they need to do the job that they are dedicated to perform.

I couldn't agree more Mr Pies. And be sure and vote no on Prop 120 which give Brewer and her friends the power over federal controled state land. They have shown in the past that the only thing they want is to sell of state assets to their cronnies.
