Kingman letters: Take down the signs

I think the Miner should run a story on Janice Palmer and his/her(?) crummy signs for district Supervisor still all over our streets.

Everyone else has taken theirs down except Janice Palmer. He/she managed to put them all up, now it is time to take them down.

It is amazing how much support Janice Palmer has! Whether in office or not she has influence and a solid following. It is about time someone comes along and shakes up the status quo.
Sometimes a person just has to step up no matter what the odds are and do what is right. Janice has shown real willingness and courage. If she should run again expect to see a stronger and more organized core of supporters.
If the signs are still an issue and they bother you take the time to police them up and dispose of them. If politics are now the issue, then get involved in the process. Find something you believe in and stand up for it.
I appreciate the Daily Miner for providing the forum for this discussion. It allows us all to express our views and opinions.

Well, it looks like Janice has pretty much shot himself in the foot with regard to ever winning an elected position in the future.
Politics 101: DO NOT insult the community and the voters!

Wow, I can't believe the name calling going on Janice. I posted to you as his/her because when I met you a few years ago you introduced yourself as JJ. A man. You talked like a man, walked like a man, and dressed like a man. Excuse me for my confusion.

Well...I guess the last post by the subject of the original letter basically says it all.

Please don't waste anymore of your time or money or add to the litter by running for any other offices.

Granted you may have 3000 supporters, but there will never be enough to overcome the other parties majority. With these last few comments...you may even have lost a few of them.

Live your life, volunteer as you wish, but please, face the fact you will never be elected to a senior position anywhere in this county. Open and honest.....which you apparently refuse to be...is what people are looking for. If you won't provide the needed information to back up your claims of experience....then how can you be trusted in the future? It's really that simple.

who is bashing anyone here? its a simple question, no one is hurling insults or cyber bullying. can you not answer my previous question? why is it that when we simply disagree with your beliefs are we hateful? you ran for public office, so you should probably get used to being asked questions about your personal life, if you cant do that without becoming offended or lash out at the person asking, then you arent fit for any type of office. and putting on a duck outfit in NO way makes you a duck or did i miss something in science class?

thank you friends . as far as my gender is concerned, whether or not i have had s.r.s. doesnt really matter. there's an old saying. if it looks like a duck, acts like a duck and lives like a duck.....it must be a duck. and certain parts of my private life aren't open for discussion by you hypocrites who don't even have a life. you're just cynical, jealous, and hateful. but you go on trying to take it out on me. i love it. know why? because i think you are funny. and so do my 3000 friends who voted for me. have a nice christmas. oh...and i love my friends.

@J Dog

So any one who asks questions about this persons claims that cannot be confirmed because they refuse to tell anyone what their real name was a decade or so ago is "cyber bullying"? One thing they can count on is that if they try and run again for any office, the same questions about their past will come up again. And as long as they continue to hide their past, they are unfit for office.

Sound like the signs are not the issue, it's your bashing of what Janice is.

Rocket Man, shouldn't you respect her wishes to call herself "she". I'm sure she would join the rest of us and respect your wishes to call you Rocket MAN.

Off the top of my head, a couple of signs are on Bank and Northern and Castle Rock and Northern. Just because you are taken to task over your failure to remove your signs doesn't make someone a bigot or redneck. Your comments do however make me glad you do not hold a public office,

I think it is great that Janice is a part of our local politics! I am a heterosexual white guy that chooses to support her because she represents courage, diversity and tenacity. She has the skills and experience to do the job. Isn’t that what really matters when selecting the people we vote for? Whether elected or not she is a leader and has inspired countless people to live an authentic life. This discussion about the signs helped me to realize how much she was able to do essentially on her own. It has also motivated me to do more to show my support in the future.
If the Kingman Daily Minor is looking for topics I think an article on cyber bullying would be appropriate.

Janice, I am disappointed in your response. If you are so big in doing things for this community, don't give yourself a black eye by acting like this. Ask where the signs are, say thanks, take them down and go on with life.

I think anyone running for any public office is asking for a verbal beating and most take the beating well. Don't let those with too much time on their hands get to you.

""woman who obviously has nothing better to do than be a bigot, a redneck, non-essential type of ...shall we say...person.""

you dont like a person who does not accept your beliefs so you also, try to insult them? just because we do not agree with YOUR beliefs, does not mean we hate you or are bigots, we simply disagree with YOUR beliefs. and the poster simply stated a fact. you are biologically a man, and present yourself as a woman. what do you honestly expect?

Article comment by: Janice, Please Do Remove all Your Signs, If You Haven't Done So Yet

How did taking down campaign signs become a discussion of Janice's sexual orientation? Do we ask what the sexual orientation is of Mayor Salem? Do we question Jaime Taylor for having a girl's and boy's name? Should we attack a public person in regards to their sexual orientation at all. Shame on those attacking Janice over her sexual orientation - keep the attacks on her on signs.

im janice l. palmer. i've been janice for 11 years. in running for office i made and put up my own signs. i also took down all the signs i remembered that i put up. i made over 600 signs by hand. i didnt pay some printer to do it for me like the good old boys. i did my own work....can you say that? i may have missed a few. but it wasnt because of laziness or disregard for the law. if you know where i missed some. let me know, and i'll go get them. ok? this is directed to the gender-bashing woman who obviously has nothing better to do than be a bigot, a redneck, non-essential type of ...shall we say...person. not a lady for sure.. ive been a clean city commissioner for kingman from 2010-2012. im on several boards and clubs here. ive been a disaster worker for 40 yrs for the red cross, and a first aid instructor. im in R.S.V.P. I ONLY HAVE ONE QUESTION FOR THIS WOMAN.. WHAT HAVE YOU EVER DONE FOR YOUR COMMUNITY????? in closing, i have one thing for you my dear. as the fonz would say...SIT ON IT.!!!!!

The problem is that Janice Palmer has not been open and honest.

Is Janice living as a woman, but still biologically a man? Has Janice legally changed her gender. What state? How can the public service background that is claimed be verified? I just can't see how a person that closed about their background would consider running for public office.

I could care less about a persons personal life...right up until they become a public figure and wish to represent me.

Janice needs to make sure the signs are collected...whether placed by her or her supporters...she IS responsible.

@Nay - I have to laugh at you for being such a sensitive, thin skinned person. People like you that cry at every little thing because it hurts your feelings are why people like Shelley used the he/she comment I am sure.
Because of people like you crying about every little thing, it has caused people to try to be politically correct to not offend someone. I for one am a female and took no offense to it.
Time to put on your big girl panties and get over it!

Sorry, but those of us who don't recognize Janice Palmer's sexual reassignment generally refuse to acknowledge HIM as a she in the first place. So the author is reaching out a little bit in adding the SHE to their description of Palmer. I for one will call HIM a HE.
So, when will HE remove his signs? I too noticed that HE had left them up!

Bravo Nay Mama, I was offended by the He/She? statement also. By the way, it's on Google, just saying.

I agree the signs should be taken down as soon as possible after an election and state law says 15 days to remove after the election.
I used to have contact with Janice and can not believe that SHE would disobey this law. It concerns me that something may be wrong with HER that has made it so SHE hasn't been able to do this.
Also HER name is Janice which is an outright woman's name, unlike like Shelly that can be male or female. Think about what your writing before you submit. You have not only offended Janice and all people in her situation, but me also and I have been a woman my whole life. Where's the tolerance?

If an invidual is so lazy they cannot remove their eyesores that litter the landscape can you imgine how they would have performed in office?

They should now be classed as litter and removed by anyone who wants to haul them to a dumpster.

I TOTALLY AGREE!!! These signs are an eyesore, if you're responsible for putting them up, be responsible enough to remove them!
