Kingman letters: The Christmas Parade

I have been reading and listening to the news in regards to problems with the word "Christmas." I was just wondering what happened to Kingman's "Christmas Parade"?

Did Kingman yield to not having the word "Christmas"? I have been a resident since 2005. I must have missed something somewhere, but with all the publicity of the word "Christmas" I was just wondering.

Why so offended? What does a parade have to do with the birth of Christ?

@G.Smith, I'm sorry the parade was chaos. It shouldn't be like that. Parades are almost always about family activities. But it was not the Christmas Parade, but a parade of lights...

@D.Gaither, thank you for understanding my point. Christmas comes once a year, why not call it a "Christmas Parade". Parade of Lights you can have anytime, even on the Fourth of July...

@Desert Angel, your son was in a parade called "The Very Merry Parade of Lights". Not the "Christmas Parade". Parade of Lights can come anytime during the year. Christmas Parade only comes once a year...

Don't worry, you missed one of the worst parades we've had. The floats were great, and I love taking my kids to parades, but this one was out of control. There were cars all parked up and down the street so you couldn't see the oncoming parade until it was in front of you and that's if there weren't people standing in the street in front of you. We try and get there early and get a good seat on the sidewalk, but people weren't on the sidewalk! They were all in the street standing! Parents control your kids and don't park your car in the parade route! It was a mess. Don't think we'll be going again. We'll go down to Havasu where the parades are more civilized. It felt like the podunk town everyone says we are.

You are correct, Ms. Paulsen, the Kingman Christmas parade didn't happen this year. Instead the "Very Merry Parade of Lights" happened!

I guess it doesn't matter to the sponsors, that they deprive 80% of those people who consider themselves Christian, so as to cater to the 20% of those who are godless!

The Kingman Christmas parade was last weekend. My son was in it so we know it happened.
