Reader Letter: They're sticking it to us again

Here it is again. The jug heads in Washington can't seem to get their act together and get a budget figured out. The Republicans won't give at all. The Democrats want to tax the wealthy more, but the Republicans say no. That is the way it goes. Stick it to the middle class more - in other words, the people who have to work for a living.

Warren Buffet said that he isn't paying anywhere near the taxes that he should be paying. It made me think of what my Dad said many years ago: "This country is run by the rich for the rich." All of our elected officials in Washington are multimillionaires. They aren't about to change anything where they have to pay more taxes. They will just continue to stick it to the working people and want to cut Social Security and Medicare.

Our elected officials in Washington just don't care about the little guy. All they care about is the big business. I remember a few years ago when the gas crunch hit. The price of diesel fuel went through the roof. It got so bad that the trucking industry shut down. The truckers just parked their rigs. It wasn't long that this country started feeling the effects of it. There isn't anything that we have in our homes or offices that isn't brought part of the way by a truck. You don't hear the trucking industry complain about the price of diesel fuel is because the trucking companies get help from the government. The independent trucker doesn't get it. He has to pay the high price of diesel fuel. That is not fair. An independent trucker is the one who told me. He said that is why a lot of independent truckers had to hang up their keys or sell their rigs.

I wish our running-for-president system would change. There are a lot of people who would make a darn good president, but they don't have the money to run.

His Majesty - hey, I like that. It's much better than some of the names I've heard him called.

"ONE TRILLION EVERY YEAR FROM HIM ALONE. More than every POTUS combined since Washington."

How does that work? According to you he's raised the debt $6T while he has been in office.....but he's only been in office less than 4 yrs?

As to more than all the others...well, that's been debunked so many times I can't believe even you keep saying it. Basic math proves it wrong.

You're wrong on every count. This obama ruse is done because he knows many are uninformed and his "rich" lies earn him their votes.

Truthfully, taxing the so called "rich" to the max would run the government 8 1/2 days - do nothing towards the $16 Trillion debt, ONE TRILLION EVERY YEAR FROM HIM ALONE. More than every POTUS combined since Washington. Don't fall for his lies. He hates America, wants to bring us down. He's on his way. Don't help him along.

Everything he does hurts the middle class. Obamacare means job layoffs, regulations under his EPA means little drilling, 97 gov't union jobs EVERY DAY since he took office are unnecessary, higher gas prices hit the low income hardest. HE is what hurts the middle class, not the rich. They create jobs.

He is making American dependent on his socialist ways, what took Greece down. Romney said he would create jobs. Obama said he would give you free stuff. Many chose free stuff. That is NOT however what made us great.

Obamacare alone will nearly sink us and hits those making the least the hardest. Businesses, unable to buy the healthcare, will have to lay off. Dr's who won't receive enough from Medicare payments will leave in droves, driving down the best care in the world. You see, obama stoled 800 Billion from Medicare to fund obamacare.

Buffet is also playing games. Unknown to you, Buffet legitimately owes millions to the IRS but fights tooth and nail to not pay it. Why if he thinke he doesn't pay enough? On the other hand, the lie about paying less than his secretary is simply because his money is invested and he has already paid on it once. It isn't taxable because that is the law.

Biker Randy - I also ride a bike and I also read books and watch something on the tube besides Fox noise. I would remind you that the repubicans have had a few govenors in the past. Remember Wilson , and Regan and the Duke and the Arnold all of these people gave in to the unions. If politicians had any nerve they would not have entered into contracts that they couldn't afford. I would also remind you that there are only 6 percent of Ca. that are union. If you would do a little research you would know that Obama got his money from the same people who supported Rmoney. The super rich. Cmon Randy tell us all how much you donated to Rmoney.

This "millionaire" tax starts with individuals making $200k per yr. and married couples making $250k. Just like prewar Germany, instead of the Jews, rich people are the scapegoats.

The truth is, this tax will fund government operations for 8.5 days.

The big gorilla in the room is government spending. So what does his majesty do, he steals money from earned entitlements like Medicare for seniors to throw into his own scheme called Obamacare.

Things are unsustainable now, no amount of BS can erase His Majesty's reckless spending. When the democrats took congress in 2007,the budget deficit figure was $160 Billion, the last Bush year prior to the recession. The tax cuts were in full effect, both wars were raging, and the recession had not yet struck. That is about a tenth of Obama’s deficit just this year.

Breaking news: Just today, from NASDAQ, the budget deficit widened to $172 Billion- in November.

Don't blame me, I wasn't hustled by that arrogant song and dance man.Apparently, a majority of Americans don't give a da=n about their children or grand children. In fact, parents, have your children learn Mandarin. They'll find it helpful in dealing with their new bosses.

You can thank the EPA(not oil companies) for the higher price of diesel fuel.

The only 'little guys' the Democrat party care for are Union members, who's dues go to the Dem. Party to pay for their election costs. Union dues are money laundered by the Dem. Party, which doesn't want businesses to help pay for the Repub. Party election costs.

The cost of living goes UP for everyone when Union workers are paid too much for their services. So no one get's ahead $ wise in reality.

This is why the SF Bay area is so expensive to live in or visit. The majority of workers there belong to Unions.

Calif. is broke because all the State, county, city employees and School District empl. also belong to Unions. If you think Unions are so great, why don't you live with your kind in California, run by Democrats ?!

Just goes to show the amount of hypocrisy of someone, like Buffet who has an agenda. This guy knows full well that the IRS will accept any money whether owed or not! But no, he doesn't want to pay "his fair share" unless every other rich guy pays, too! Pure unadulterated hypocrite, (alternate pronunciation...democrat).

I agree with you 100 percent. We should have govt financed elections so anyone could afford to run. And we don't need to hear about it for 3 years before the election either. 90 days is all we should spend on elections. Other countries do it this way and they seem to be doing as well as we are. 120 days before the election we should hold a national open primary. Any canidate should be able to get on the ballot. The top two no matter what party should have 60 days to campaign with free tv ads and then have an election week . 7 days to get to the poles and vote. If the canidates aren't in the pockets of big business from the very start maybe just maybe they would represent us for a change. But don't hold your breath.
