1/10/2013 6:01:00 AM Kingman Letters: Volunteers help veterans
The 2012 statistics are in for the Disabled American Veterans Transportation Network of Kingman. Our volunteer drivers transported 1,319 veterans to the Prescott and Phoenix VA hospitals and logged in 69,751 miles on our three DAV vans. Dispatchers and drivers combined gave us 3,919 hours of their time.
The purpose of our network is to provide transportation to veterans who have scheduled medical appointments at the VA hospitals in Prescott or Phoenix. We go to Prescott three days a week - Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays - and to Phoenix on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
All we require from the veteran is that their appointments are scheduled before noon and that they call the office to reserve a seat on the van five to seven working days before their appointments. There is no charge to veterans for this service.
The DAV is always looking for volunteers. If you would like to apply as a driver, please contact the Kingman office between 9 a.m. and noon Monday through Friday at (928) 757-7192.

Having been a driver for the VA..I would like to commend these people..they are special! I logged over 5000 miles, but my hearing became a problem...but I feel I gave back just a small amount of what I owed...chip in...you meet some great vets, a nice trip to Phoenix or Prescott..and you will feel you contributed! God bless you!
