Kingman Letters: Ultimately, it's our own fault

Our politicians, and most Americans, leave me with so much disgust I can no longer contain it, and frankly I could care less who this might upset.

"P.C." - political correctness - along with not giving a crap about our country, our people, or even ourselves has led to a "fiscal cliff." Oh, no. Yes, the idiots in D.C. got elected by "We The People," which means we the people are at fault about the fiscal cliff and every other damn thing wrong in America.

Outsourcing our space projects while schools rank 47th in world is a fault of people blind or scared to do what they know is best for the country. Cut the entitlements, and if you do not support this, you should donate 60 percent of what monies you do have to support all entitlements.

Right or left has nothing to do with problem at hand. Lack of education is also something we the people have said was OK. Your votes or not voting guaranteed nothing would change. Why do people act surprised about Benghazi, or "Fast and Furious" gun programs having no results when you elect the scum of the Earth who protect only the letter of the law, not the people?

These D.C. people are the real 1 percenters whose main concerns appear to be getting re-elected to continue to do nothing about why they were elected, except to call each other names like third-grade kids.

Regulation: gun control or the Federal Reserve is but smoke screens for the rich to get richer as every day Americans get kicked in the face again by a government like the movie, "Hunger Games," who gives you what you asked for - a little bit of hope!

Ms Athens

“Millions have just received their checks and discovered they are now receiving much less. Who knew? Well, Conservatives knew and tried repeatedly to warn the Low Information People but they WILL NOT LISTEN!!!”

Actually it was the Republicans who blocked the extension of the payroll tax cut. And it is not “much less” it is only 2% (or two dollars per hundred) that actually funds YOUR monthly check.

“The part you still do not get is, he raided $700 Billion out of Medicare to pay for Obamacare. Yes, he REALLY DID!”

No, he did not and months ago when you started that meme you were asked to provide proof of that and you never did. Will you now do so?

“Now, he is all for raising it again …”

You still do not understand that raising the debt ceiling is to COVER THE MONEY THAT CONGRESS HAS ALREADY SPENT.

“And again, he is using the same lying scare tactics. Firemen won't get paid (they will!!), blah blah blah.”

Yes, fireman, who work for municipalities not the federal government, will be paid, however the military, all other federal employees and those of us receiving Social Security are in danger of not being paid.

Flash to the Low Information Voters:

Millions have just received their checks and discovered they are now receiving much less. Who knew? Well, Conservatives knew and tried repeatedly to warn the Low Information People but they WILL NOT LISTEN!!!

Obama just went on TV this morning. Please note. HE NEVER HAS A PLAN!! Wait, he does have a plan. It is to spend us into oblivious (he's already done that!),, then convince the LIV's the Republicans did it and NOW the Republicans are going to have to pay for it. AND YOU WILL AGAIN BELIEVE HIM!!

He has blamed Republicans for Medicare problems. The part you still do not get is, he raided $700 Billion out of Medicare to pay for Obamacare. Yes, he REALLY DID!

Obama's goal is to rid the country of conservatives. He has no plan other then to continue out of control spending and blame everything he can on conservatives.

And the debt increase coming up? Did you know, one of the FEW things Senator obama actually showed up to fight was RAISING THE DEBT LIMIT around 2005. He said then as did Pelosi, it was all about SPENDING.

Now, he is all for raising it again and swears, it has NOTHING to do with spending.

So, you low information voters. What does that make obama. That makes him a LIAR!!!

And again, he is using the same lying scare tactics. Firemen won't get paid (they will!!), blah blah blah.

No Wonder
Obviously your a teacher with that underfunded statement about our schools. I don't remember the exact numbers, but I believe we spend more money per student than any country in the world...and how's that working out?
Your right about a nation of uneducated, just look at who we elected President and our current leaders...probably the worst leaders in the world with exception to some real dictators.
Ask most of the young people and a lot of the people on the street who the vice president is and they don't have a clue.
I don't think the editor of this paper dismisses the value of education, I think it is more the quality of education when our kids are being brainwashed into thinking liberalism will lead them to prosperity when just the opposite is happening...
Why is it that private schools succeed is because they can weed out the non-achievers and educate people who take things seriously.
Move to France or any socialized country and see how that is working out for them !

@ Frank Harris

I have to disagree with you 100% in that no one, not you, not me not anyone can say with any certainty at all how the founders would have written the 2nd Amendment in today's world. To claim so indicates a conceit of incredible proportions.

However you can make some well informed assumptions as to how they might have written it if you compare the list of egregious acts committed against the colonies by a vile and vicious potentate. When you compare what that government, and in particular it's military, was doing against the colonists I believe it's safe to surmise that the founders would have wanted the people to have the right to access the same types of arms as those military forces who were committing the atrocities against the people of the colonies.

I can't say with any certainty but my personal belief is that they would still, even in today's modern society, feel that the people should be able to access those same types of weapons that may be brought to bear against them someday by another oppressive government, be it our own or some other.

Hope that made you feel better and lowered your blood pressure but hate to bust your bubble of that mythical majority you think you exist in or lead, but we are a nation of 300 million plus various views, opinions, ideologies, etc., I been hearing this doom and gloom from the wanna-be psychics, prophets on the right wing for decades, guess I will let it go in one ear our the other!

Not saying you're right in your views, I'd just like to say - when a citizenry is uneducated, the rich, powerful, and cleaver take advantage to get what they want.

We have allowed underfunding of our education system. We have allowed our youth to drop out of school. We have allowed the radicals in this county to set up a separate and certainly not equal education system that we pay for but only they can attend. We have allowed higher education to become privatized and so expensive that it is now becoming dismissed as a possibility. And finally we have allowed an editor in our only daily newspaper to dismiss the value of education.

We have allowed the constitution to strangle this country. So much has changed in this country since it was written. Of course the founding fathers would have written the 2nd amendment differently if they knew the true evil in mankind would produce guns that could kill tens within seconds. Of course they would have written the document differently if they imagined our country would not care for the mentally ill. Of course they would have written it differently if they envisioned a president who immediately after an attack would use that attack to spy on us without warrants, imprison Americans as well as foreigners without due process, to torture. It is our duty to see that laws and rules allow our society to govern humanely in a modern world.

@ Jack

You are right, it is not a Repub or Dem issue. We need to look at the individual candidates who we vote for. This Repub/ Dem thing is the real smoke screen. "Bush did it too"- means nothing. If a policy or decision is wrong once, the same policy or decision twice as wrong the second time regardless of who is implementing it.

I disagree that the 2nd amendment and The Federal Reserve are smoke screens. These are serious issues that will determine our freedoms and financial security if not addressed correctly. The left would like you to consider them smoke screens, or non issues, so you will ignore them, allowing the left to infringe on our freedoms and our sovereignty. Issues involving the Constitution are never non issues and are exactly where we must take action.

The leaders that we have are exactly our fault. Whether we make a choice through the exercise of our vote, or choose not to exercise our vote. But the situation we are in is also our fault if we don't exercise our voices and speak out against policies, decisions, and government scandals that are clearly wrong. Our representatives need to know what we think while they are making these decisions.
