Kingman Letter: Running water saves pipes

In regard to an article in the paper on Jan. 15 about the high cost of plumbing calls around town, I have not had any trouble with this because I leave my faucets running just enough to keep the pipes from freezing and bursting.

Just leave a faucet running a little bit at night while this cold snap lingers around and you might save some money on plumbing costs.

Pat, It's obvious you are not on water haul.

I let my faucet drip overnight during the cold spell and collected that drip in a dish pan. It was less than one gallon of water but I was able to use it the next day for rinsing things. I also left my cabinet doors open to allow the heat in there. Placed dirt and a rug over the spigot on the water tank. No trouble up here. Hope this helps if we ever have a next time.

That is good advice for some one who does not live off a limited amount of water from a water tank.
My dad did that when I was a kid but he had an unlimited amount of water and didn't worry how much water he waisted.
I say bury your lines deep and wrap them with everything you got and hope for the best.
