Kingman Letter: Belated input

Town hall meeting, I missed it. I read about it after the fact. So where was it posted? Or was this by word of mouth? I get the paper daily, and it might be my own fault if it was in there? It is nice to know when the next meeting will take place, on April 25, 2013.

The train noise is an old issue and it will be dealt with sooner or later depending on funding and those brave souls who offered to pay more taxes. The sewer expansion also will get done after the city finds a way to pay for it. Maybe those who already offered more tax dollars will cover this as well.

The grants are the best solution, and yes we will still have to wait for the money once approved. As to the city streets in the downtown section of Kingman, they are no worse than any other section of town. It might be time for Kingman to join the green movement and start recycling trash. This could add jobs as well as dollars to the city coffers, and grant monies are available for this as well.

As to property up-keep, the city might offer a tax deduction for those eyesores including the ones now owned by the city. It would be cheaper than a demolition cost.

Fines are never a first choice. However, if the powers that be set a priority for noise control, (that is, loud music that blares 24/7 and is better known as obnoxious noise to most), this could offset some cost to clean the streets. The car shops downtown also create noise by revving engines up all day long. If, however, the code enforcement officer tells you to toss your old paint in the trash, don't - it is against the law.

Why no comments? I sent in one also criticizing the Miner for it's slow reporting. Oh, what's that? It will be in next week.
