Letter: Government got it right this time

Hooray to the government for figuring out the Kingman VA needed a better facility for its veterans and the great medical people at the current clinic.

The current facility is understaffed and the actual facilities are questionable. That the people who work there are able to assist vets is amazing. They do a great job and I am sure they are eagerly looking forward to the move to a new facility where I am sure they will be able to better service the veterans of this community.

Now, perhaps the staff can treat the stress symptoms of the veterans and not worry about getting PTSD themselves.

@Then We All Deserve Medical Care

Absolutely....just as soon as you spend 20+ years serving your country and 50-60% of that time away from and out of communication with your loved ones. You do realize that military members and vets pay taxes as well? On average I paid about a month of my pay in taxes each year. (I actually figured it out a few times.) Any other job you know that you pay your own salary?

AN, does that mean since Joe Citizens supports the military with their tax money they deserve the socialized medicine the Vets enjoy.

“The 90% are just paper pushers, or delivery men, or airplane loaders, etc.” However, in my world (a combat veteran) I feel that every person who served is important to the overall mission and thereby deserving of all benefits.

No, Frankie baby only 10% of the service are actively engaged in combat. The 90% are just paper pushers, or delivery men, or airplane loaders, etc. The 10% certainly deserve it the 90% should have to wait for Medicare for All.

I am thankful for the much needed expansion of the Kingman VA Clinic for my husband. It saves a very long trip to Prescott or Phoenix. The Clinic IMO in Kingman is managed very well and my husband has had no problems getting appointments, labs and other services. The expansion is needed to include services which are not locally provided.

Thanks Rick the vets should be the first among us to recieve aid for their service. The best thing that we can do for our soldiers however is to stop sending them into ignorant wars. We have just fought the longest war in our history and for what? It is obvious that the biggest reason is to enrich the war criminals that start these wars for profits. 22 young soldiers everyday decide to kill themselves because they can't live with the acts they had to commit when they were sent to war. 60 minutes just did a piece on this last week that highlighted this very problem. We are broke for this very reason. The Republicans want to cut social programs that is always their answer. The neocons who started these wars mostly never served in the military. Their children are not sent to war anymore as we no longer have a draft. We spend more on what we call defense than the next 13 largest countries combined. When the boys return from these criminal wars we can't even offer them a job to rebuild their lives. I'm surprised the number is only 22 boys a day but it is probably a growing number. Now lets hear from Linda and the boys about how 60 minutes is just a left wing show.

As one who is a regular within the V.A. health care system, The very thought someone would place vets in the same category as some kind of parasite or the V.A. health system is somehow a form of socialized medicine, does not understand the system and how much it helps veterans.

From what I gather Mr/Ms "hooray for socialized medicine" and medicare for all must be on something and still has a few years left before he/her can participate because of their age. If they were a vet: age wouldn't be a factor. P.S. @ Rick Veradt, Great to hear your area is receiving a new facility, I sort of miss the old ones, they were like an old pair of shoes. Then noting remains the same.

Excellent points Rick. However I am sure one of the usual suspects will show up here calling veterans who avail themselves of care parasites.

I too, applaud the new VA facility.
but, having lived here for close to 13 yrs, and every time I have visited the VA facility, been told "were not accepting new patients" yet I see no one coming or going in or out of the facility. and know of NO ONE who has been treated there.
so I question how it is being managed.
