Letter: High irony diet

One out of two college graduates under the age of 30 are either unemployed or underemployed.

College aged voters favored Obama to Romney over two to one at the polls last November.

Oh, the irony....

“Business 101? That would have probably been 40 yrs or so ago for you I imagine?”

Yep, 38 actually, and facts never change.

”As to you getting huffy....How about your response to my correction about the MoH? ‘Thank you for the pathetically snide correction.’ I'd call that huffiness.”

And you would be incorrect – no surprise there.

”I've decided that using the above moniker suits you better than you adopted Uncle. More appropriate somehow.”

Fine with me and you’re not the first to use that. In fact at one point in my broadcasting career I called myself “BM in the PM” with exactly the reference you are implying. If it makes you happy – go for it.

@ BM....
How about 3 different dictionaries and Investopedia that refer to someone who sits on the BoD as a "Director" or "director"? How about WM and HD who both refer to the individuals on the board as directors?

No one said "Managing Director" or "Director of Training" or "Director of Whatever".

Business 101? That would have probably been 40 yrs or so ago for you I imagine?

As to you getting huffy....I see it every time you are. How about your response to my correction about the MoH? "Thank you for the pathetically snide correction." I'd call that huffiness.

btw...as you can see, since you've decided to address me with one of your silly nicknames I've decided that using the above moniker suits you better than you adopted Uncle. More appropriate somehow.

“Wow...someone forgot to say ‘A Director of the company’ instead of ‘Director of the company’ and you make like its not understandable. Since there is NO single Director of any company...why pick that nit?”

Some companies do have a position known as Managing Director of the Company others, such as the one I worked for, have the position of Director for specific entities within the company (i.e I was a director of training for my company). However a person who sits on the Board of Directors is not a director of the company – again business 101.

”But it's ok for you to constantly mis-type or mis-state a fact and when corrected you get all huffy....too funny.”

Incorrect information, as usual. I will now ask you to point out when I have gotten “all huffy” when an error was pointed out. As I rule if I am incorrect, be it with a typo or a fact, I will always acknowledge it with – what I hope – is a modicum of decency, unless the person is being … well, you know.

I dont have a signed confession of the corporate giants saying that they were tired of the high cost of labor unions. Unions bossing them around, demanding more and producing less but I dont need a document where common sense should suffice.

Anyone with the brains of Pavlovs dog knows that every action gets a reaction.

So the fact is Hillary was getting paid to be one of the top 16 executives of Wal-Mart, no matter what her title was.

Bill Clinton pushed for China to be accepted in the World Trade Organization which allowed Wal-Mart to have access to cheap labor and products.

This is fact. You cant blame Bush because without Clinton, China would still be in a third world status and the U.S. would still be the number one economy in the world.

Sorry about your wounds. Id still be angry too.

”Hillary was on the Wal-Mart Board of Directors which would have made her one of and the only female….wait for it…DIRECTOR!”

No a member of the Board of directors is not a DIRECTOR they are a member of the board of directors. Business 101.

”Wow, she was with TCBY from 1958 to 1992? Really. Your making stuff up.”

Yeah I hit the wrong key – should have been 1988 to 1992. Sorry ‘bout that.

“You’re a Vietnam Vet? If so thanks. If you’re making stuff up again, get stuffed. I’m a 21 year retired Veteran.”

Congrats, I was on-track to be career military but my last wound sent me home and cancelled those plans.

As to Romney – it is fascinating to see haw many people still support such an anti-American sleaze – not it is not fascinating, it is pathetic.

So I see we pretty much are on the same page about both parties making money off jobs and manufacturing going to China, but never conveniently forget the Dems and the Clinton’s have made money, connections and political capital by selling out America. I see you omit your Democrats handy-work in this treason. Nice try.

Also don’t forget about how the Democratic supported labor unions strong arming and extorting companies provided a good reason to leave the country.

Hillary was on the Wal-Mart Board of Directors which would have made her one of and the only female….wait for it…DIRECTOR! I don’t know how you came to another conclusion.

Wow, she was with TCBY from 1958 to 1992? Really. Since she was born in 1947 that would have made her 11 YEARS OLD! What is TCBY anyway? Take Care Business You? Your making stuff up.

You’re a Vietnam Vet? If so thanks. If you’re making stuff up again, get stuffed. I’m a 21 year retired Veteran.

As for Romney, I didn’t like him either but I would have picked him or that homeless guy on Andy Devine, over the Community Organizer. At least both of them have held down real jobs and lived in a real world and not a Socialist Utopia created by Obama’s handlers.

Am I the only one that still debates you? If so, it’s not because your right or too smart. It’s just that you can’t teach some dogs to stop chasing their tail. God meant them to run in circles looking for the answers up their rear.

“Bill Clinton is the one who pushed and got permanent normal trade relations with China.”

It’s odd how as we are told to stop bringing up the actions of The Criminal the righties go back and bring up Bill Clinton.

But that notwithstanding, yes, Clinton did that and many of us were against it. As a Vietnam veteran who fought against “the Godless Chinese Communists” I felt any “normalization” of relationships with Communist China was wrong – dead wrong!

And as wrong as that was, it still is not an excuse for an anti-American businessman to promote, buy and profit from CHINESE COMMUNIST sweatshops.

“The same corporation that Hillary Clinton was Director of for 6 years.”

I know accuracy is difficult for righties, but let’s give it a try. Mrs Clinton did sit on the Board of Directors for Wal-Mart from 1986 to 1992 – however she was NEVER THE DIRECTOR of the company. Mrs Clinton also served on the boards of the Arkansas Children’s Hospital (1988-1992), the Children’s Defense Fund (1986-1992), TCBY (1958-1992) and LaFarge (1990-1992). Her position on the board of Wal-Mart was prompted by pressure on Sam Walton to name a woman to the board.

“Wow, money hider?”

Yes, that is what you call someone who hides his fortune off-shore (in The Cayman Islands, Switzerland, Bermuda and Ireland) in a concerted effort to not pay taxes and to not benefit American workers, America or American businesses.

Jimi.

“Prove it.”

Okay, Willard the Money Hider is an expert at bankrupting American companies, putting American workers on the street, stealing the pensions of American workers while sending American jobs to COMMUNIST CHINA. All of that information can be found at numerous news sources (including FAUX News).

As to Willard’s love of CHINESE COMMUNIST sweatshops let’s go to the record. From a video readily available on-line (you can find it by Googling “Romney +Chinese Sweatshops”) “… we went to China to buy a factory. It employed about 20,000 ... young women between the ages of 18 and 22. They work in these huge factories making small appliances. As we were walking through this facility, seeing them work, the number of hours they worked per day, the pittance they earned, living in dormitories with little bathrooms at the end of maybe 10 rooms. And the rooms have 12 girls per room. Three bunk beds on top of each other. And around this factory was a fence, a huge fence with barbed wire and guard towers.”

Romney and his Bain affiliate, poured $23 million into that Global-Tech sweatshop in Dongguan, China where factory workers made 24 cents an hour and less than $2 a day.
As CEO, Romney was uninterested in calling for improvements at the facility. The sweatshop is still a horror where starvation wages prevail.

Overcrowded, filthy dormitories rotten food routine 15- to 16-hour shifts and backbreaking 105- to 112-hour, seven-day workweeks are the norm. The appliance factory has 800 student “interns” — 16-years-old forced to work repetitive, exhausting shifts on assembly lines with no overtime pay.

So there you go Jimi, now tell us again what a great guy Willard the Money Hider is and why real Americans should have supported this sleaze?

"took a look at Willard the Money Hider and realized he was (is) an anti-American sleaze who perpetuated the loss of jobs as he bankrupted American firms, put American workers out on the street, stole the pension funds from American workers, then shipped those American jobs to COMMUNIST CHINA where he had invested heavily in COMMUNIST CHINESE sweatshops where young girls are forced to live in virtual prisons and work for pennies a day – and Willard praised those practices as a model our nation should follow."

Prove it.

Bill Clinton is the one who pushed and got permanent normal trade relations with China. Clinton said that granting China permanent normal trade relations (PNTR), which allowed China to gain entry into the WTO, would be a great deal for America.

Ironically this trade status upgrade for China would benefit one of the largest chain stores in the world. Wal-Mart. The same corporation that Hillary Clinton was Director of for 6 years.

Wow, money hider? This stint at Wal-Mart is not in Hillary’s stated repertoire as she knows even an Anson can dig up the facts and put the selling out of America to China for Hill and Bill’s personal gain, together.

“Get over it, AN, your guy won and is now the "Golf-Pro-in Chief". LoL.”

Again with the sophomoric LOL? So sad. And of course your statement is wrong – as usual. Why do post such drivel that is so easily checked? Woodrow Wilson (Republican) golfed more than any president in history with over 1,200 rounds to his credit followed by Eisenhower (Republican) with over 800.

“… explain why, in the midst of what you and other brain dead leftists think is a wonderful recovery, so many college grads are either out of work or flipping burgers.”

Really? “Brain dead leftists?” Really a class act aren’t you?

But to answer your question, if the Republicans would stop blocking jobs bills, millions of Americans could be put back to work. And if anti-American sleazes like Willard the Money Hider and his ilk would stop bankrupting American companies and sending American jobs to COMMUNIST CHINA a lot of people would still be employed.

Wow, such a long comment totally devoted to rehashing the election and demonizing Romney. Get over it, AN, your guy won and is now the "Golf-Pro-in Chief". LoL.

But I suppose taking that tact was better for you than having to explain why, in the midst of what you and other brain dead leftists think is a wonderful recovery, so many college grads are either out of work or flipping burgers.

And I am sure that if they just reflect on how your little tin God is "moving the country forward", they will not mind being out of work at all.

LOL

College degree or not, people in their teens and 20's tend to be idealistic and vote Democratic.
After they experience more life as adults, and pay enough of their hard earned money in taxes, reality sets in and they tend to become more conservative.

Obviously, looking at the comments here, there are some people who never grow up.

Plus are you saying our educational system is actually making our kids smart....I have a bridge to sell you !

@Daniel

First, your "statistic" is omitting a lot of relevant data, like how a bachelor's degree in a technical field, from accounting to engineering, gets students jobs faster than, say, Art History. Second, being "underemployed" means that you have a job that doesn't require a degree. So someone with a degree is more competitive to get these jobs. Is this still a benefit to have a job, even if it's lousy, when you beat someone out that only had a HS diploma?

Secondly "under 30" means you have removed all those people with degrees who have their career going full force - AND that you're paining a picture that degrees are worthless, when they end up netting you more income over your lifetime.
http://www.bls.gov/emp/ep_chart_001.htm

Finally, yes, people with a higher education attainment tend to vote Democrat more.

The alternative way to say this is that people who do poorly at school, or people who flunk school, or people who are bad at learning - these people vote Republican more often. Ouch.

Funny how that re-frame goes both ways. Be careful with that next time... though chances are if you voted Republican in 2012, you won't learn from this comment and are prone to making the same mistakes again.

“College aged voters favored Obama to Romney over two to one at the polls last November. Oh, the irony....”

Actually there is no irony involved. College age voters – with an amazing amount of perspicacity – took a look at Willard the Money Hider and realized he was (is) an anti-American sleaze who perpetuated the loss of jobs as he bankrupted American firms, put American workers out on the street, stole the pension funds from American workers, then shipped those American jobs to COMMUNIST CHINA where he had invested heavily in COMMUNIST CHINESE sweatshops where young girls are forced to live in virtual prisons and work for pennies a day – and Willard praised those practices as a model our nation should follow.

Then to add insult to injury, and to further deny American’s jobs, Willard hid his money off shore – in Ireland, Bermuda, Switzerland and the Cayman Islands – to make certain his wealth would never benefit American workers or American businesses.

To further make certain the American people did not realize just what a total sleaze Willard was (is) he then refused to allow us to see his tax returns. What was he hiding?

As a final slap to American workers – once Willard lost (proof there is a God) – he bought a very expensive SUV manufactured, not in America, but in Slovakia.

The college educated demonstrated, not irony, but their ability to see behind the curtain that was hiding one of the greatest anti-American sleazes in our history and voted for the man that is actually moving this nation forward – despite the efforts of the Republicans and Teabaggers.

You seem to have a problem with comprehension. Obama won because people know that "supply side" economics doesn't work. The only thing "trickling" down is fecal matter. The wealthy don't stimulate the economy, they don't spend their money. The middle class and the poor are the ones that buy. Most people spend their entire paychecks every week. Most Mohave county residents voted for Romney. But the majority of Americans voted for Obama. At least he didn't need the Supreme court to hand him the Presidency. He won fair and square. But I doubt you and the rest of the far-right cheer leaders can admit that. Instead you start spouting off conspiracy theories. The people are tired of hearing "be afraid". If the GOP continues on the path they on they will lose big in 2014. To claim your for less government while you push laws that discriminate against any who disagree with you is political suicide.

And now the "good and godly" will call me names and wish ill upon me. As all they have to peddle is fear and hate. That is why Independents like me have quit voting for Republicans.
