Letter: Media can't get it right

You know how to make a rain dance work? Keep dancing till it rains.

MSNBC's Chris Matthews, CNN's Peter Berger, David Axelrod and the Huffington Post wanted so badly for their accusations to come true. They wanted nothing more than the bomber to be a Patriots' Day tax-protesting tea partier or a "Realtree" camo-wearing right winger from the NRA. The speculation began merely hours after the bombs went off in Boston - media assumption WRONG!

The media's arrogance is nothing new. In 2012, ABC News' Brian Ross falsely accused a tea party member of the Colorado movie theater shooting - media assumption WRONG!

In 2011, after the shooting of Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, the media launched a full-on assault to blame Sarah Palin, American patriots and tea partiers - media assumption WRONG!

The First Amendment guarantees one the right to speak freely and also protects the freedom of the press to factually report to the American people. Regardless, public defamation and assassination of character is still a violation of civil law. It's funny to me how liberals claim to be of a higher intellect, yet their journalists keep getting it wrong.

Do you know what they call journalism when biased to a political persuasion and based in an ideology? Propaganda. Our media has perfected it on the American people.

"Precisely, one ‘copies 'n' paste’!”

Since you have decided to become the arbiter of exactness I feel bad that I must inform you that to be precise, the term would be “...copies AND pasteS.”

You’re welcome.

"Nope and one would think that since you cut ‘n’ pasted the definition of amnesty...."

For someone who always demands preciseness in our comments, you should be made aware of the fact that one does not "cut 'n' paste" from the online dictionary. "Precisely, one "copies 'n' paste"!

IMHO, amnesty is exactly what any bill on this subject will produce. Forgiving the illegal invasion of our country and then offering a path to citizenship as a reward for their illegal activity!

"Now, go read the proposed bill and come back and say you were wrong."

So, we on the right must read a bill to see what's in it, but those on the left don't? Now I get it!

Don't need to read the proposed bill, (some 800+ pages, with hundreds of socialist amendments to come!), because one of the sponsors of the bill told us what main parts are in the bill, and I believe him!

“When you have nothing to say you can always screech ‘Fox News Lies!’, right AN?”

Yes, I suppose I could, but I don’t. I only bring up the FAUX News lies meme whenever someone defends the only “news” organization to ever go to court and demand the right to lie about, distort and make up news stories.

“Of course it's amnesty.”

Nope and one would think that since you cut ‘n’ pasted the definition of amnesty you would understand that. Oh wait, you haven’t actually read the proposed law so you do not understand how what is being considered is most assuredly not amnesty. As I said – amnesty is what Ronald the Dim did.

Now, go read the proposed bill and come back and say you were wrong. Thank you.

“And yes, the reason you can't find the truth on this story is because.....drum roll....another story NOT REPORTED by the liberal press.”

Still wrong – just as it was three weeks ago, two weeks ago, last week and now this weeks. Virtually EVERY media source in this nation has reported on the psychopath.

“The co asked Fox to review it for bias prior to running it. They chose to not run it. Akre claimed not running it constituted lying by hiding the story.”

As I have pointed out numerous times here FAUX News went to court, lost and on appeal their lawyers demanded the right to lie about, make up and distort news stories. And here is the story – again – 28 February 2003 - A Florida Appeals court ruled there is nothing illegal about lying, concealing or distorting information by a major press organization (FAUX News) . The court reversed the jury verdict in favor of journalist Jane Akre who charged she was pressured by FAUX management to air what she knew to be false information (i.e. lie).

The attorneys for FAUX argued the First Amendment gives broadcasters the right to lie or deliberately distort news reports on the public airwaves. FAUX argued and failed on three separate occasions to have the case tossed out on the grounds there is no hard, fast, and written rule against deliberate distortion (lie) of the news (note – THREE TIMES attorneys for FAUX demanded their right to lie). .

As to your HMMMMMMMMMM??????? When are YOU going to tell us exactly what punishment you would mandate for a woman who has an abortion? Why won’t answer this simple question?

"You mean like FAUX News that went to court and demanded – and won – the right to lie about, make up and distort news stores? Is that the kind of “journalism” you are talking about?"

You use that again and again and again. Pretty much every time you can't argue with the facts. Look at the number of comments you have made here and not once are you disputing what the letter writer said in his very specific points.

When you have nothing to say you can always screech "Fox News Lies!", right AN?

Please, continue to make me......

I am sure that the countless people in other countries who are going through the lengthy and costly process to come here LEGALLY might disagree with your leftist opinion.

"Wrong legal argument! Fox was DEFENDING the right that already existed. Therefore the original court award should be set aside. BIG LEGAL DIFFERENCE and in your case, wrong talking point!"

Not much of a difference at all. They still had it declared in open court that they have a right to lie and distort. Pure and simple.

“Wrong legal argument! Fox was DEFENDING the right that already existed. BIG LEGAL DIFFERENCE and in your case, wrong talking point!”

Wrong as always. Here are the facts (with parenthetical annotations) –

28 February 2003 - A Florida Appeals court ruled there is absolutely nothing illegal about lying, concealing or distorting information by a major press organization (FAUX News) . The court reversed the jury verdict in favor of journalist Jane Akre who charged she was pressured by Fox management to air what she knew to be false information (i.e. lie). The ruling declares it is not against any law, rule, or regulation to deliberately lie or distort the news on a television broadcast.

The attorneys for Fox argued the First Amendment gives broadcasters the right to lie or deliberately distort news reports on the public airwaves. The court did not dispute Akre's claim, that Fox pressured her to broadcast a false story (i.e. to lie). Fox argued and failed on three separate occasions, in front of three different judges, to have the case tossed out on the grounds there is no hard, fast, and written rule against deliberate distortion (lie) of the news (note – THREE TIMES attorneys for FAUX demanded their right to lie). .

The attorneys for Fox argued the First Amendment gives broadcasters the right to lie or deliberately distort news reports on the public airwaves.

So, what is comes down to is – yes FAUX News went to court on appeal and during that appeal their attorneys argued that FAUX News has the right to lie, distort or make up news stories.

“It seems that many traditional American values are beyond you.”

Yeah that whole “lying is wrong thing” just doesn’t work when you’re dealing with righties.

Bob Moore:

Let's get the Fox story straight - then compare it to the NON-REPORTING by the left on the abortion Dr in Philly.

And yes, the reason you can't find the truth on this story is because.....drum roll....another story NOT REPORTED by the liberal press.

The lawsuit: Akre did an investigative report for a Fox affiliate concerning a co and their use of growth hormone on cows and accusations it led to human health issues.

The co asked Fox to review it for bias prior to running it. They chose to not run it. Akre claimed not running it constituted lying by hiding the story. Fox defended their right to run or not run a story. They won.

Libs do this daily. Afraid the story puts libs in a bad light. THEY DON'T RUN IT.

Important Bob Moore so try to keep up. FIRST, we don't KNOW that growth hormones hurt human health so not a lie. There was no proof either way. It was simply an insinuation. BIG DIF. So they were given no right to lie but a right to run or not run a story. We don't KNOW if it was a lie or not. NOT ROCKET SCIENCE HERE.

And I know you get it because your shows, MSNBC, Media Matters, etc choose to not run anything making conservatives look right daily. It is, in fact, their modus operandi.

Where are the stories on the abortion mill in Philly? Where were the stories on the lies about Mitt Romney killing a woman by taking away her insurance when she never worked for him, was never covered by her husband's insurance who did work for him and had her own insurance and had been gone from her job years before Romney came along and again, she worked for another company. Hmmmmm???

Of course it's amnesty. They came here illegally, thus if they are allowed to stay here by law, it's amnesty! Look and absorb the definition of "amnesty".

am·nes·ty
noun
1.
a general pardon for offenses, especially political offenses, against a government, often granted before any trial or conviction.

2.
Law. an act of forgiveness for past offenses, especially to a class of persons as a whole.

3.
a forgetting or overlooking of any past offense.

@ Linda Athens: Linda, you're right on! What most of us don't understand is how and why the illegals managed to count at all during the election. Were they really legitimate votes? Were the results so skewed without any investigating being done? Was the legitimacy of votes "shoved under the rug" just as the birth cert issue was? Thank goodness he'll be gone.

There is no “amnesty” proposed by Obama – amesty would have been the actions of Ronald the Dim.

“It is time to launch a praying war against obama and then follow the next instructions we receive. THE MAN IS NUTS.”

What is “nuts” is to believe in the words “received” from … whom? And then to follow up on those words? Remember how many nuts have told us they were told by “god” to kill people? Or how about the Christians who – so far- have killed two of their kids while waiting on the “word?”

Your palpable hatred for this president is not only seriously disturbing but also severely non-Christian.

Wrong. Read the actual judgment and not the nonsense from the right wing shouting heads. The judgment is straight forward – FAUX wanted to lie, the court said they could lie. Again – straightforward and simple.

Why anyone would pay any attentions to a "news" outlet that demanded the right to lie about the news is beyond me.

I am mad!

Listening to more of obama's Mexican student speech, he apologized for us imposing our sovereignty on them. This from the man along with Eric Holder who devised Fast and Furious to get guns in the hands of the drug cartels in Mexico knowing full well they had already killed over 30,000 with them. Not like Bush's small program where the Mexican government was involved and they tracked the guns, trying to GET the cartel leaders, not ARM THEM BOB. They also killed BP Agent Brian Terry and 300 innocents but killing innocents doesn't bother the Criminal Obama. He just sleeps through it.

He then basically thanked Mexico for helping him get into office (meaning illegals voting) and would need more of same for the 2014 mid terms. And in blaming US for Mexico's problems, he disassociated himself as POTUS. He has been POTUS 4 1/2 years. ALL problems here fall on HIS HEAD.

THIS MAN IS DANGEROUS!! We must go after him. To apologize to Mexican students for us imposing ourselves on Mexico and send the Mexican students a signal he needs them over HERE to keep liberals in is dangerous.

Christians, get on your knees and then get on your phones and internet. Call the White House and tell them we are NOT imposing our sovereignty on Mexico, it is the other way around. All things printed in Spanish here, Dial 1 for English, Judicial Watch reports nearly all legal and illegal Mexicans are on welfare.

It is time to launch a praying war against obama and then follow the next instructions we receive. THE MAN IS NUTS. We need to get him out of office which can be done with Benghazi alone if the news could just get out. That is our job.

Daniel:

You got it so right. Propaganda to the max.

Obama just went to Mexico and told them it is OUR fault they have the problems they do. Actually, economically they are doing better than us. What does that tell you?

He said our need for drugs over here has caused their problems. Then he threw in guns. Huh? Then he said he was going to get immigration straightened out for them.

This isn't propaganda. It's called LIES!!! Our need for drugs is their problem Mr. Obama? You truly are nuts. And the guns. It is THEM that you and your friend Eric got guns to, killing 300 innocent Mexicans. Not to worry, innocents dying isn't something you lose sleep over as evidenced by you sleeping through Benghazi.

And immigration? You mean the 33 million amnesty you have in the works. Again, not called immigration. Called breaking the law and the back of what's left of our country.

Sadly, it is the fact we are who we are that made him even able to get where he is today. Grateful? No, out to destroy us as thanks. .

Anyone in Mohave county making comments about home grown terrorists versus non-home grown must not remember or not know of how Timothy McVeigh and his buddy had a bunker in Mohave county where they planned and plotted the Oklahoma City bombing! People have for years speculated it was a conspiracy driven by white supremacists, some have alleged the members of the group who got caught before they could bomb a Texas Federal building were connected with McVeigh! As to MSNBC or any network getting it wrong, seems Fox and friends had who would win the election wrong, do not believe anyone walks on water let alone news media of any type!

Uhmm...I really don't see any sarcasm in Alan's comment. I do however see a great example of "repeat a lie long enough and it will become fact'! Your repeated and repeated and repeated again statement about Fox News suing to be allowed to lie and make upstories is agreat example of how the Lamestream media is brainwashing those in the public who are just too lazy to find a "non-liberal biased" channel!

Once again I will point out that what Fox really did was to appeal a large monetary judgement, brought by a disgruntled news reporter, that said Fox could not terminate her for refusing to write the article, with the political slant that Fox wanted. In the appeal the court agreed with Fox that their was no law that said Fox had to be truthful in their reporting, therefore, the lower court's award was set aside. Fox was not asking to be allowed to report lies, only to be immune to lawsuit, from their reporters, if that did happen!
(BTW: the same rules apply to all other media outlets!) So, I'm sure all the other media outlets were happy that Fox appealed on that basis!

Now, A.N., if you still don't see the difference, ask your attorney to explain it to you.
