Kingman Letters: A future visit from the IRS

With the recently revealed Obama administration scandal involving the IRS harassing conservative (opposition) groups seeking tax-exempt status, the following scenario comes to mind:

"So, you're here to sign up for health care coverage under Obamacare. Let's take a look at the dossier the IRS has amassed on you.

"It says here that you are a member of your hometown tea party chapter. It also says that you regularly watch Fox News and listen to Rush Limbaugh. And you recently attended a lecture that claimed that global warming is a crock. And you're a member of a church that is opposed to abortion on demand and homosexual 'marriage.'

"I also see that you're a member of the NRA, which means you're probably a big supporter of the Second Amendment. And you regularly sent letters to the editor to your local newspaper in which you criticized the Dear Leader over his administration's involvement in Fast and Furious, Solyndra, Benghazi, exploding the national debt and the seizing of AP reporters' phone records.

"But, what's worse is this item about how you voted for Romney in 2012. You also donated money to his campaign. You even had one of his signs on your front lawn!

"Based on the information in your file, health care coverage for you and your family is denied. Now, head over to Gate 2 and wait for the next train to the re-education camp."

Uncommon Reasoning

At least you did not give the quote an attribution to Thomas Jefferson (as have others here). And of course the quote is highly inaccurate and just more to the usual hyperbole of the righties who are always upset that someone – anyone – might actually be getting something they are not.

The paranoia on the far right--which makes up a sizable portion of the local population--is a fascinating thing to watch. Between the IRS, gun control, and Obamacare, there's definitely a market here for underground bunkers.

What a ridiculous letter. If you would explore the issue, you'd learn that the IRS workers were trying to find a quick way to do their work. They typed in Tea Bag or other words so as to pull up those organizations asking for tax exemptions since it was a reasonable assumption that their mission would be political not community service (which is the basis for tax exemption). The IRS worker could then quickly review the application, process the request and move on. Liberal organizations were handled this way and several have been denied tax exemption. Try to remember every tax payer is actually paying for every tax exempt organization. We should all be grateful IRS is going their job.

“All I can say is they had better not turn her down for some political vendetta.”

So can it be surmised that your wife is under that socialist program called Medicare? The one where the taxpayers will be picking up the tab? And if they do single you out (as Frankie would say, “LOL”) - what are you going to do about it? Honestly, it must be terrible to go through life thinking someone – anyone – is out to get you. Pathetic post, as always.

So many times in today's America I am reminded of the saying (paraphrased) 'a government that is big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take everything you have'.

You are absolutely right and what we fear is my wife is going to have a new liver in the near future and we definitely are not Obama fans and make no bones about it.
All I can say is they had better not turn her down for some political vendetta.

@ Don

Given that the some IRS officials and employees felt justified in using their agency to interfere with the first amendment rights of people based on their political beliefs, it is not at all hard to imagine them deciding on who gets health care based on the same criteria.

I don't think our biggest concern is the death panel when the IRS can accomplish the same thing.

Actually, this scenario sounds ok to me. The sooner we get Republicans to the camps, the better.

And the IRS knows all this how?
