Letter: A crowd at the dumpster

No breakfast, no job, electric is off, and water too. No cable TV or gas. The car was impounded for no insurance. Food banks we gave to in the past have become our refuge, my kids take a shower at the school or church, and sometimes the gas station. My little boy asks if it was bad because he wanted a birthday cake, and Daddy cried. Five years no work, no welfare yet, we're holding out so those who need it more get it, no medical access or cardboard signs that say please help. Knocking on doors and asking for work gives us a sense of pride at $5 an hour.

It's spooky, you know, to see someone like us and just know they are in it too. A smile while the glimmer of a tear hides in the shadows, and at 50 or 40, something is horribly wrong. Is it me? Day labors are closed, and dumpster hunting is getting crowded while the blood banks are saying, sorry you've got a cold!

Don't give up. I cheer the family on as I tell them why we can't burden others in the family or friends as I pray for ObamaCare to kick in and cover the hospital bills, and I say, "Hey kids, we are going on vacation to learn subsistence ways of life. Chop wood and carry water, live off the land." What the hell else can I do?

Things are getting better, the president says, yet today I can tell you I walked across the country for declarations of awareness for the homeless in the 1990s. Today it is far worse; hope has been recalled by social democracy.

Jack Shepherd

Our country has wasted its abundant resources for decades. We have allowed what Eisenhower warned against - the military industrial complex. It's hard to remember when we were not sending our soldiers to foreign lands to tell others how to live while the Haliburton, Northrop Grumman, and Blackwater (whatever it's latest name is) makes billions. The Republicans haven't seen a war they didn't like. GW Numbnut started not one but 2 wars. He pushed the cost of those wars up to the last months of his term. Now we all are paying a heavy price. Bring back the draft. Make it fair and equal to ALL - no more Cheney deferments, no more hardship cases, no exceptions. By involving all of us, we all will care more about not allow the powers to get us into these endless wastes of man and treasure.

if nobody else will do it, I'll do it - and say with reference to both left and right positions on Obamacare and other recent major pieces of legislation, that to comment extensively upon these would be irresponsible because I wouldn't know what I'm talking about. Last I heard, Obamacare is 17,000 pages long (and growing?) and the immigration "reform" legislation (geez, it's like the Patriot Act - the legislation is actually the opposite of its name) nearly as long. NOBODY is going to read 17,000 pages, folks. So while some of you will find the following point of view distressing, I believe that, rather than ignorantly trying to address specific pieces of legislation, the entire process of passing this legislation, and those entirely unconstitutional, dictatorial Executive Orders, should be abolished.

“..and yet any time a conservative posts supporting facts or sources, you state that their sources are invalid. Its kind of funny when the pot calls the kettle black.”

Well, the difference is that I use facts while the righties fall for hyperbolic nonsense and outright lies from FAUX News (the only “news” organization to go to court and demand the right to lie about, make u and distort news stories), WND which has been proven hundreds of times of lying and CNS that is so pathetic even they don’t believe their own lies.

So, kid, when you actually learn some facts you are welcome to come back, otherwise do yourself a favor and stop looking so silly.

“We can assume this is just another Bob Moore opinion, since he provided zero references to the supporting facts.”

Well, we all know what assuming does, don’t we? And I have mentioned numerous times that thanks to the usual suspects I rarely post supporting information because I was told time after time my sources were invalid. And I have said numerous times that I suggest anyone in doubt do their own research and return with the “supporting facts”.

Nice try, though.

“… the last I read, each and every person will be responsible for over 6,000.00 dollars-‘up front’!...you gullible sheep!”

Since that figure has been debunked hundreds of times I might suggest the gullibility lies within you. Stop paying attention to FAUX News (“All lies, all mof the time”) and whacko righties on the radio.

The Tea Party is on Koch:

So how is that unemployment rate doing under obama now that he is nearly through FIVE YEARS AS POTUS?

Even the multiple billions of our money he used to "stimulte" all those greenie jobs went straight down the toilet as most of the companies soon went bankrupt.

Include the Volt in that. Every car sold loses money. They will never get out of one Volt what it costs to make one.

And there are those oil jobs that we cannot work because Obama's lying EPA regs won't let us. So the Dakotas get the jobs and money from drilling on private land.

No wonder even liberals are sighing in discontent.

@Jack Shepherd

It brought tear to my eyes........ really......from laughing so hard.

This fairy tale just reeks of "total BS". The only thing left out was "Once upon a time...." at the start.

All that personal hardship and suffering, yet you can spare enough time from job hunting to post on the net. Like I said, BS

@and I thought I had it bad....

"but I hate police contact cards..."

You mean someone has come up with a more inventive fantasy than the ones posted by you? And I did not even have to get that far before I knew it was submitted by you, "pl.....", "np.....", "Phil L"

LOL

Just a suggestion. Why don't you and your wife start a cleaning service? Or yard work. The pay is $10 to $15 an hour. I have recently hired a person to clean for me after 2 months of looking without success. There is work but it is WORK.

At first glance one might believe this was a story written by the one posting it, but then I doubt it, the last paragraph mentioning social democracy was a big hint, then if one reads the story who would let their kids suffer like this to allegedly let someone more needy have welfare, food stamps etc., this is at a glance hoax letter written by some right winger or birther!

Fukushima is forever destroying our seafood and the EPA has withdrawn their radiation-detection equipment from swaths of the Pacific Northwest - not because there isn't radiation. Ben Bernanke is reducing the U.S. dollar to a laughingstock while the world is ever more deliberate in securing an alternative method of exchange. If I momentarily make a typographical error in an e-mail, the NSA has it forever recorded and kept for future use against me. I eat fairly well (no dumpsters), if you believe Monsanto's sterilising, deforming genetically-modified foods - banned in most of the world outside America - should be called food. I'd take ana evening walk to think about these things, but I hate police contact cards and can't walk distances anymore. Good luck, Mr. Shepherd.

And Welcome to the Tea Party's America!

Article comment by: THE TEA PARTY IS ON KOCH

Not to worry Jack: the tea party has it all figured out. Cut a lot of government programs and jobs and let those people fend for themselves in the free market. Let the republicans run the economy because they have promised millions of jobs if they get into the White House. Wait a minute..what kind of jobs have the republicans promised? I haven't heard them say, have you? Also, if we do away with a lot of government jobs and employees, who is going to make sure that the tea partiers still gets THEIR welfare checks?
On a serious note. I wish the republicans would take that tether ring out of their noses and tell the tea party where to go!
