On Aug. 10 I had an unfortunate encounter that forced me to have to dial 911. The dispatcher asked for my name and to state the incident. Then the dispatcher encouraged me to: "Ma'am, stay on the line with me; stay on the line and keep talking." Before a minute had passed, around the corner of the street, a police car sped down the road and caught the perpetrator before he could disappear anywhere. I saw the two officers handcuff his man and put him in the squad car. Before five minutes passed, I got a call of follow up letting me know the procedure that would follow.
After recently hearing about cities where citizens wait up to one hour before seeing law enforcement, I felt proud of our city's KPD and Sheriff's Department. These men and women work hard every day to keep us safe. I truly am proud of our city and feel safe here.
