Kingman Letters: Treat Congress like inmates

How about a simple solution to our government shutdown?

Isn't the purpose of Homeland Security to protect our country against terrorist threats? The biggest current threat to the country is our own elected officials.

Detain all members of Congress and the Senate, transport them to Guantanamo Bay and detain them there until they reach an agreement.

Ken Wilson

(delete)...I'm sorry you don't see the criminality in signing off on major rights- and money-stealing legislation without even bothering to read these, massive insider trading based upon the congressperson's own sponsored legislation (or that of colleagues), and accepting monies from lobbyists for favoured legislation. Maybe suggesting relocation to Guantanamo was a bit absurd, considering cheaper and quicker alternatives such as guillotines.

This is exactly what we need. Extremist ideas that have no possible way of ever happening. Thank you for your contribution.

“Problem is, low information people vote in those who are NOT good people,…”

Such as Republiscums like Canada (aka Rafael) Cruz who is seeking to destroy our nation (too bad it isn’t his nation).

“A country set up to only work when Christian principles are applied and used (we know because the Founders told us so in their own words)…”

Nope, still wrong and always will be. Why do you keep posting this trash?

“…God fearing people … such as Ted Cruz and Sarah Palin,..”

I’ve often wondered what is that makes Christians “God-fearing”? I know I don’t fear God, why do so-called Christians? And of course using those two spawns of Satan as examples is … well, you know.

“When one lone network even tries to give both sides, they are daily maligned (FAUX news)…”

FAUX is the only “news” outlet to ever go to court and demand the right to lie about, make up and distort news stories. In my world that makes them liars – always – about everything.

“…keep the good ones such as Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Darryl Issa.”

Keep drinking their Kool-Aid.

I have heard there will be thousands of truckers headed to DC to air their complaints with our thug from Chicago president.
I also hear that there is going to be one million Vets going to DC.
I'm sure the president will figure out a way to fire up air force one and fly to some far away golf course with a whole bunch of his hollyweird friends so he won't be bothered by all the little people blocking traffic and making noise.
It is a shame these people will not be armed and take DC back from this corruption and turn it back to the people.

"You mean like John Bonehead in the House who will not allow a vote on a clean CR"

I don't know who that is but i am pretty sure that is not who they meant.

There are very good, God loving people in the House and Senate both. Problem is, low information people vote in those who are NOT good people, such as barack obama whose entire goal is to take us down a notch, who hates every thing about America.

A country set up to only work when Christian principles are applied and used (we know because the Founders told us so in their own words) , we have thrown those principles out. Now when God fearing people step forward to fight back such as Ted Cruz and Sarah Palin, they are all but crucified by the non Christian leftists, most of whom have taken over the universities, school boards and main stream media.

When one lone network even tries to give both sides, they are daily maligned (FAUX news) as you see on here. The Rachel Maddow types with all their provable lies, the low infos hold up as holy.

We need to throw the liars out, keep the good ones such as Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Darryl Issa. When you daily pray, you KNOW who the good ones are. All should try it.

I suggest you democrats take another look at that constitution that you keep accusing Republicans of violating. Article III gives the House of Representatives the power of the purse, and yes it is meant to reign in a power grabbing president. Read federalist # 58 and tell me again what you think you know. POTUS does not get to dictate to the congress, and you need to wrap your brains around that. 76% of population wants POTUS to negotiate per CBS poll today. The requests being made are very modest and Bill Clinton would have taken them long before a shutdown. Read some history and learn how our government works before you make yourself look like a fool.

The government is set up with a division of power to ensure that one branch doesn't become all powerful.

Congress, specifically the House, has the power of the purse.

Since our government is a representative one, we have a situation where there are enough districts, in enough states, where there are enough conservatives, who have elected enough representatives to Congress, that these representatives are able to counteract the liberal actions of the Senate and the President. That's how our government works.

When our government was designed by the founders, the President was set up to be only slightly more powerful than a figurehead. That was to guard against a dictatorship. Over time the presidents have stepped over those boundaries and have usurped increasing amounts of power, with Obama being, by far, the biggest usurper.

If terrorists were threatening to blow up the US economy we would stop them with whatever means was necessary. Well that is what the Tea Party faction of the GOP has become--economic terrorists.

Because they can't get their way on Obamacare or because they hate the federal government they threaten to blow it all up.

Nice economy you have there..be a shame if something happened to it.

Terrorists and extortionists--all of them. The president must never give in or every president in the future will be a figurehead and the most radical fringe in Congress can shut everything down unless they get their way. Enough is enough.

I believe in term limits. The framers of the constitution never meant for there to be a professional class of politicians.

Those people were businessmen, professionals, tradesmen and farmers who looked upon being elected as a public service which they would serve a term or two and then go back to whatever they did before.
Some also say, well elections can be term limits too, but there is so much influence from special interests that it is difficult to remove incumbents. People are sick and tired of being ruled by the NYC-DC axis of evil.

If any of you think a college education is positively correlated with intelligence or common sense, you need to get out more. Look at the wingnuts that represent college towns.

Being locked up with Nancy Pelosi would make me want to agree to ANYTHING !

Therein is 1 of our greatest problems. When she was the leader of the House(full of Democrats) she said, "you can't read the Obamacare bill until after you vote on it." Lockstep all the Democrats voted on a bill they had never even read !!! If this isn't the definition of IDIOTS I don't know what is. Right after that vote all the Democrats should have been FIRED for incompetence !!

Now we have the same level of competence in the Senate(controlled by Harry Reid(D) who decides what will be brought up for debating, then voting on. He has rejected bill after bill sent to him from the House of Representatives. No one person should have this amount of control. He singly is controlling all that happens in the Senate-House. This is ABSURD ! Vote ALL the lockstep Democrat senators out. They repeatedly prove their incompetence.

Each member of the legislature should be limited to two terms. One as an elected official, and one in prison.

The political upheaval will not only continue but will become worse until we vote in responsible, level-headed, ADULTS.

Let's look at our own representatives. In Arizona where the percentage of high school and college educated residents is among the lowest in the nation and where high school drop out rates are extremely high (another words intelligent voters), where election turn out is below 50%, where our voters believe everything they hear and are too lazy to fact check - do you really believe Gosar, McCain, Flake will be voted out?

It's always the other representatives - well folks examine the activity of these 3 and you'll know they’re just as responsible. Where are they in trying to correct the problems? Have they walked over to the opposing representatives and tried to talking, forming rational coalitions? Have they worked to develop bi-partisanship? Have they initiated any, any job bills, campaign reform bills (not speaking of McCain's old bill that he, himself hasn't revived), finance reform bills, any bills that will truly change how our country does things? NO. Until we vote out ALL incumbents, and we get money out of elections, this will only get worse.

I couldn't agree more Ken and the ironic thing is they all call themselves patriots. I don't want my govt. back I want it to be responsable and act like grown-ups. Is that too much to ask?

Or, here's an idea. Issue a tornado warning (since there was one yesterday), make them ALL gather in a shelter, not a tax shelter, and lock the door till they come to an agreement.
Being locked up with Nancy Pelosi would make me want to agree to ANYTHING!
