Kingman Letters: Lots of tumult in the past

Long, long ago back in the 1800s, we experienced the Indian Wars and the Range Wars between cattle barons. Then came Jesse James and Billy the Kid shooting and killing lawmen. Then there was the Civil War that almost destroyed this country.

The European War came along. Then came World War II, which was fought with not just Hitler but the Japanese. Then came the Korean War, followed by the Vietnam War.

I remember Bobby Kennedy being shot in California and Martin Luther King being shot in Memphis, Tenn. What a year that was! Then came the Civil Rights Movement and the Klan burning and killing out of hate. I remember, back when I was four years old, the Elvis comeback special.

What happened to the good ol' days?

Kenny Lee Barrows

Your letter reminds me of the song "Tell Me 'Bout the Good Ole Days". Grandpa was the one being asked, kids today don't want to be told, don't have time- Too busy on all their electronic toys sadly!

Those don't sound like "good old days". What exactly are you missing from the past? Wars, assassinations, deaths by the thousands are not good old days.

Gee Kenny I hope your not saying that we aren't the greatest country in the world anymore. But don't worry because Jesus still loves us the most right?
