Letter: It's a party for a party

To all you independent voters: This is your chance. You've complained for years that you didn't have a party. Well, now you do.

Quit crying and making excuses and blaming everyone else. Get out here and help. The Arizona Independent Party is having a town hall meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 31 at the county library, 3269 N. Burbank St. Come sign the petition, join the party, get involved, give us your ideas, and in short, help us fight the good ol' boys who are ruining our country.

There are a million registered independent voters here. So we can do it. I'm the first vice chairman. Be looking for you.

Lee Davies

"I'm 66 myself and it seems to me that the people making these decisions should be a lot younger and have a lot more skin in the game. One of our big problems as a country is all these old man making decisions instead of the people who have to live with them."

You really did not look up this info before writing your comment? The average age of U.S. Sentors is 60. The average age of members of Congress is 55.

Source? nbc news (dot) com

I think that 6 years and 11 years meets the standard for "a lot younger than 66.

I know, lets add this to that "interesting idea" you mentioned elsewhere. People who are over 60 should not be allowed to vote for representatives who will crafting laws that will affect young citizens. After all, as you said, "old men" don't have much "skin in the game".

LOL

"they are another offshoot of radicals. another thing you may be an independent registered voter, but you are not in an independent party at present."

One good thing about your new party, if it ever gets off the ground, is that it will only take votes away from the democrat party. You are fooling no one with your hysterically funny attempt to convince people your and your party (of only two thus far) are anything but to the left of even democrats.

"get a clue"

Way to go. Keep on demeaning the very people you wish to convince to join you.

LOL

Left leaning Ralph Nader, right leaning Ross Perot tried this 3rd party thing, tea party has done the same all have pretty much fizzled the tea party tried something unique by attaching themselves to the republican party as they claim they are not part of it, but in reality they are merely the more extremist in that party who just like to pretend they are not part of the republican party! Folks create these 3rd party ideas with money as their root, folks will ask you to come then ask you to donate your money! Which will pay the leadership their pay checks! Its a game a con game!

The republican party was formed to fight slavery and if the south had won the civil war we would have slavery today or at least for quite some time before it got squelched.
The Democrats should be proud of this fact and it makes you wonder why the biggest percentage of Blacks are democrats, and what has the democrats ever done for the blacks but keep them down.
We don't need a third party, we need people to educate themselves and then they will automatically be conservative.

"I'll stick with the party of Lincoln and work to get rid of the old sticks like McCain..."

Whoa! What happened? You supported, defended and told us you voted for McCain?

Now suddenly you are supporting a foreign born son of a Cuban Communist? What's up with that?

Wow I never thought I would agree with (delete) about anything and now she has called for Mr. McGoo to go home to one of his 6 houses and read to his grandchildren. Great idea and I think Harry Reid can go with him. I'm 66 myself and it seems to me that the people making these decisions should be a lot younger and have a lot more skin in the game. One of our big problems as a country is all these old man making decisions instead of the people who have to live with them. Maybe (delete) could put all her posts in a folder instead of sending them in to the Miner and then when her grandchildren come over she could read it to them. Great idea (delete)

I have been an Independent Party voter since I was 18 years old (36 years ago). The Independent Party became the Libertarian Party, which I stayed with all these years. How are you different from the Libertarian Party?
Also, Halloween is not a good night to have this meeting/party. To me, unless you have an emergency (bleeding & you can't stop it), people should not be going out on the road that causes more hazards for the Trick or Treaters and their parents.
As long as the members are irresponsible, like encouraging people to drive on a night when kids are all over the streets, I will not be attending.

Thanks, Lee for being another voice and face of the Independent Party. Since the local Independent Party has wisely asked what's-her-name to retreat into the shadows, I will definitely look your way.

Article comment by: TWO POINTS !!

first i am an independent because i DO NOT WANT party affiliation.

second, i guarantee, with these two (delete) these are far far left liberals.

Democrats cant stand to see people who can actually think and decide for themselves. Making the independents into a party is their way of fixing that. Nothing Less

No thanks! I'll stick with the party of Lincoln and work to get rid of the old sticks like McCain who are jealous of the great new blood we have such as Ted Cruz and Rand Paul.

It's time for some to go home and read to their grandchildren.

I suggest all who haven't, should read "Ain't You Glad You Joined the Republicans" by John Calvin Batchelor. This was indeed a grand old party and like Rand Paul, I appreciate their years of fighting against slavery and so much more for the little guy.

Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. Just like an old house with great bones, work it over and make it better and usable again. There are so many in the Republican party who have voted straight pro-life, etc forever.

Thanks for the invite Lee but I think you need to be a little more specific about your new party and what it stands for. Lets see your manifesto and let us decide if you are truly independent or just a bunch of Republicans that are ashamed to call themselves Republicans any longer. Don't get me wrong I think the Democrats are just about as corrupt as the Republicans but at least they say they will do the will of the people even if they are bought and paid for just like the Republicans. Tell us what your values are and what your party stands for. What we need more than a new party is one that will change the way voting districts are drawn up so that elections matter again. Gerrymandering is our biggest problem so what are you going to do to solve it?

You guys are tone deaf! Independents Do Not Want A Party! That is what makes them Independent. Call your party with its balloons, carnivals, revival meetings, and what ever else you're planning, something else.
