Letter: Deficit disorder

Many have heard the President state he has cut the deficit in half?

Deficits - outlays exceeding revenues. National debt - amount borrowed to finance deficits. Both better understood in graphs. CBS/Heritage have provided both, CBS noting that Obama added more debt in three years than Bush in eight. On a graph, it's stunning.

On Oct. 1 Obama said, "Although ... this shutdown isn't about deficits ... spending ... budgets ... our deficits are falling at the fastest pace in 50 years ... cut in half since I took office." (You Tube)

On Feb. 23, 2009, Obama said he inherited a $1.3 trillion deficit, the largest in history, and pledged cutting in half by the end of 2012. That would be $650 billion.

Actually, the $1.3 trillion deficit amount was incorrect - Usgovernmentdebt.us.com or usgovernmentrevenue.com and others report the following deficits: 2005 - $318 billion, 2006 - $248 billion, 2007 - $161 billion, 2008 - $458 billion, 2009 - $1,413 billion, 2010 - $1,294 billion, 2011 - $1,300 billion, 2012 - $1,087 billion, 2013 - $973 billion (could vary due to just ending Sept. 30), and 2014 estimated at $745 billion.

Candidate Obama, in 2008, said "... problem is, the way Bush has done it over eight years ... taken out a Bank of China credit card in the name of our children ... now a $9 trillion debt we'll have to pay back ... that's irresponsible, it's unpatriotic."

Then Obama took that "unpatriotic" debt amount and increased it 87 percent (Heritage) or to $16,963,977,602,096 as USdebtclock.org just told me.

And the deficit? Did he cut it in half per his promise? Not exactly. First he tripled it, then cut it in half, leaving it double what it was at the end of Bush's presidency, higher than any prior POTUS, higher than at the height of WWII in 1943 ($737 billion).

And the debt? CBS News reported - even with two trillion in tax hikes, Obama failed to solve the debt problem. Never mentioned is the $6.2 trillion Obamacare will add.

Plans that pay for nothing is, in itself a total lie.

What liberals need to admit is plans that policy holders deliberately and wisely did not take but now are forced to buy.

LIKE SPECIAL CARE FOR LESBIANS!! Is that really needed? It's in there. SPECIAL CARE FOR HOMOSEXUAL COUPLES. Yep, it's in there too.

How about that Frisco couple, obama supporters and workers. Loving the man, they were informed their own insurance would change, double or triple. Horrified, they called Nancy Pelosi.

Just the two, they make $62,000 a year. It never occured to them to rightfully put the blame on obama and his "affordable (Hah!) care so here is what they plan to do.

They are going to find a way to divert their income so it will look like they make less so they can receive obamacare government aid ie: let the neighbor pay for their care.

And that friends, is the way of the liberals. Screw who you can, always lie, never blame obama because afterall, he is our first black president.

Oh Ya: Your name, address and pertinent info stays. If you start, then change your mind, you cannot delete your info like you can if ordering something from an online catalog.

As far as keeping the info, you are referring to the hub, where the information first goes, is sorted and sent out to all the various departments (IRS, etc) that are getting it AND KEEPING IT.

Speaking of cherry picking, you seem to forget, the Navigators first GET your info (where they could easily keep it for their own use), then when it is sent along, it is not kept in the hub.

If you watched the Sebelius hearings, then you know she admitted no federal background checks for Navigators and yes, they very well could have hired felons with criminal backgrounds who could indeed steal your info.

Or did you make a trip to the fridge during that stunning pronouncement?

Conservatives don't get a little info, we get ALL the info which explains why we are well informed and you are not.

Anson states:
And why do you insist that the average American not have access to health care while you thrive on government supported health care?

But Anson states in another posting:
I have never said the uninsured will be denied health care.

Which is it? No health care? Limited access to healthcare? Or the FACT that EVERYONE in the USA will be treated for injury if they walk into a hospital?

Lefties. It's hard to keep the lies straight.

"It called for enrollees investing in the plans of their choice. You know, personal choice"

Oh you mean those plans that cost very little, but provide nearly nothing if you get sick or hurt.

"You cannot even delete your info on obamacare if you start and change your mind. Watching today's Sebelius hearing"

Since you claimed to have watched the hearings, then you would also know that no personal information (financial and Social Security numbers) is retained on the servers. Your social security numbers and financial information is verified with entities "outside" of the Obamacare servers, so what would you need to delete? That's the problem with the righties and the republicans, they cherry pick the information they want to use and leave out the actual facts.

“Most Republicans opposed Medicare from it's inception.”

Yep and all of their lies proved to be just that – lies. Ronald the Dim claimed in the 1960s that Medicare would lead to the utter destruction of our nation.

”For years, they have tried to dump it before it goes bankrupt which it will.”

Nope it’s not going bankrupt. Of course if we cut off everyone to the point they only get out as much as they put in it would help the system.

“Even McCain/Palin called for medicare cuts.”

And you voted for them? Kinda nuts wouldn’t you say?

”I'm not thriving on government health care.”

Of course you are. You suck much more out of the system (by your admission) than you have ever put into it. “This law is unconstitutional in itself.”

Not according to the Supreme Court – try to keep up.

And again, why are you so against every American having access to health care when YOU have government supported health care?

Most Republicans opposed Medicare from it's inception.

For years, they have tried to dump it before it goes bankrupt which it will. Even McCain/Palin called for medicare cuts.

In 2009, 137 Republicans voted for the Republicans alternative plan by Paul Ryan. I doubt the selective memory of the obamascare worshippers will even remember that.

It called for enrollees investing in the plans of their choice. You know, personal choice, not some unaffordable crap shoved down their throats that included abortions for all, free birth control pills (unbelievable), drug treatment centers and more they don't need or want at their age.

I'm not thriving on government health care. Since medicare will pay for half of obamacrap, I doubt many will be thriving on medicare in a few years.

It does, however, give the Dr's time to hone up on their typing skills because that is about all they do now during visits - sit and type required government red tape. Many testified they go home at night and weekends and do endless paperwork now required. And for less pay, less patient care.

You are because noone is forcing you to buy a car, doggie treats, pipes for plumbing. If the cars a lemon, you have the lemon law. If the treats and pipes are substandard, you can take them back for your money back.

Obamacare you have no choice. You are FORCED to buy it or be fined, have the IRS down your neck, factoring the fine in with your tax returns if you don't. This law is unconstitutional in itself. The feds cannot force you to buy a product and that is exactly what they are doing.

You cannot even delete your info on obamacare if you start and change your mind. Watching today's Sebelius hearing, she admitted the navigators have no back ground checks and yes, some could be convicted felons who steal your information. So not to worry.

She also said they are thoroughly trained about obamascare. Hahahaha! Twenty hours self done on line. Others with degrees in this field cannot understand it.

And Sebelius admitted, at the end of it all, THIRTY MILLION WILL STILL BE UNINSURED. Hahahaha! ...

“Bob Moore…Who the hell are you to say if a person's plan is ‘junk’? NOBODY, that's who.”

Cursing? Again?

I am not the one claiming “junk” policies are “junk” – that attribution can be laid at the feet of the insurance industry that labels such polices as “junk”, health care providers who label such policies as “junk” and the average person who – upon examination – calls them “junk.”

”You libs do NOT know what is best for everyone …”

That is a fact, however a policy that costs $150 a month and allows for two doctor visits a year, pays out $50 for a hospital stay (that might cost $150,000), does not cover prescription drugs, has a $10,000 deductible and features a “if used” termination clause is not “best” for anyone.

”Are you happy now Bob Moore?”

No Linda Athens I am not happy, because people such as yourself continue to post nonsense. And why do you insist that the average American not have access to health care while you thrive on government supported health care?

When are righties going to stop posting lies and nonsense about a program they know nothing about?

Bob Moore: 199

Who the hell are you to say if a person's plan is "junk"? NOBODY, that's who.

You libs do NOT know what is best for everyone because you do not know their particular needs, wants or their pocketbook. They did NOTHING but be responsible citizens, only to be treated like crap to enable obama to continue his re-distribution of wealth.

AND, with millions more rushing for Medicaid, the responsible people get to pay for that also.

Surely you couldn't be this badly duped. Well, maybe you can.

My daughter and son in law NOW have to pay $6000 deductible EACH before their plan they have had for years and years and years even kicks in. That's $12000 out of pocket PLUS TRIPLED PREMIUMS EACH MONTH.

And no, their plan was not junk, they have cadillac plans - son in law was once in the insurance business.

It's the obama talking point but it won't work. PEOPLE ARE FURIOUS. ABSOLUTELY FURIOUS!!!!

Businesses will be destroyed over this, lives destroyed, jobs lost or lowered to half time. Many can't pay bills and new premium both.

Are you happy now Bob Moore?

“If your idea of a lousy plan is a guy who is 55 not wanting to pay for… (blah, blah blah)”

No a lousy – aka junk – plan is one that pays $50 for a hospital stay that bills out at $150,000, does not cover the minimums as outlined in the ACA, pays for only 2 doctor visits a year, has a deductible of $10,000 and a fine print clause that if you EVER use the policy it will be terminated.

Article comment by: Shopping for the best policy

If you were selling something in an auction, would you sell to the first bidder who walked into the room? No, not unless you were a total moron.

The ACA Health care exchanges are still waiting for other insurance companies to come on board ---- some companies want to wait and see how many REGISTER for ACA first, before offering a price on their policies.

The people who are currently SHOPPING for a policy, are only seeing the first few offerings. In those states that have built their own exchange and who show they SUPPORT this, those people are seeing rares far lower than those states that are fighting and discouraging people from signing up.

What does this mean?

It means that between now and Jan 1st, you will see people REGISTER, but probably NOT sign on the dotted line until later -- when they are closer to the deadline. Like Medicare, once you choose, then you can't switch for 12 months.

What is happening is smart people are taking their time. CBS News and the other corporate cronies, on the other hand, are either misguiding the audience or are just too dumb to figure this out.

Linda, only the first sentence deals with deficit. You even explain what deficit means... and then zoom off onto a tangent about the national debt. That's cumulative deficit. You should know that since you TYPED THE WORDS defining these terms...

You wrote a whole letter about debt, not deficit. Get it together.

"The only ones truly angry or upset at this new affordable health care act is the scammers in the health insurance industry who have been selling worthless policies."

Probably true, however, you forgot a major point and nobody seems to be asking the question nor pointing it out. Many of the Representatives that are screaming the loudest, are the ones who have a stake in the medical and insurance industries, they wouldn't be so determined if they did not. Don't let them fool you, the only people they are representing is themselves. If they were truly representing the people, the knuckleheads would of had some type of an alternative to place on the table. Instead all they can do is scream and holler in fear that the whole program is going to work.

I think the affordable health care act is a moot issue, Congressional vote 285-144, Senatorial vote 81-19, I mean its law, accept it, if you do no like it one can take the IRS penalty which will seize ones tax refunds, and possibly put one in jeopardy of a tax audit and seizure of assets via that method, now me I think anyone wishing to get into a battle with the IRS is a fool!

I've heard all the lines, those policies folks by the millions are being dumped from are crappy plans, junk, cheap, worthless.

Doesn't matter the name calling. Obama said it. LIKE YOUR OWN POLICY YOU CAN KEEP IT, LIKE YOUR OWN DOCTOR YOU CAN KEEP HIM PERIOD. HE LIED NOT ONCE, DOZENS AND DOZENS OF TIMES. Deal with it.

People who, unlike others, took it upon themselves to bother noone, provide themselves with their own insurance as my husband and I did for years and years, pay for it out of their own pockets thinking that was the American way are now being dumped and destroyed by a man who couldn't give a damn less about them.

If your idea of a lousy plan is a guy who is 55 not wanting to pay for breast pumps and maternity benefits or eye care for pre-schoolers, abortions, birth control devices, drug treatment, etc etc, then you're right. Their own insurance plans are crappy.

Truth is, if the government cared at all, they would be putting people into plans to FIT THEM, rather than this obamacare one size fits all which really is CRAPPY. Consider yourself duped...AGAIN! Are you catching on?

Anny is right, a website has nothing to do with the ACA. What it does have to do with is that the idiot in the white house had years and over 600 million dollars to see that a website is built and he failed to do even that. It speaks to his incompitancy as a leader. But im sure the libs will ignore it, even though i know for a fact, if bush couldnt oversee the building of a website with a 600 million dollar budget, they would still be whining about it to this day. Gimme an H, gimme a Y, gimme a P......

The only ones truly angry or upset at this new affordable health care act is the scammers in the health insurance industry who have been selling worthless policies, dumping customers the minute the claims come in or denying those who had pre-existing conditions hence them crooked insurance companies! The legitimate companies are joining these pools, some folks might have had cheap policies that if used would prove worthless!

“Did you watch todays hearings by any chance?”

Yes.

“So much you don't get - so flawed this obamacare. For instance, you ARE aware that MEDICAID HAS EXPLODED IN THE LAST FEW DAYS?”

As was expected because – at this point in time – many, many poor people are finally able to obtain health care. And a problem with the website is not evidence – in any form – of a flaw with the ACA. Your saying it will never make it factual.

”There ARE NO $50 policies.”

Yes there are and I have asked previously and you have ignored the question so I will ask again – How do you know? Which exchange did you visit in order to be able to make such a statement?

Mr. Williams:

You're living in fantasy land but you'll find out soon enough. Did you watch todays hearings by any chance?

So much you don't get - so flawed this obamacare. For instance, you ARE aware that MEDICAID HAS EXPLODED IN THE LAST FEW DAYS?

Everyone hurriedly signed up for it for FREE so they wouldn't have to get something else in the exchange. These are the very people who were supposed to pay for the others. There ARE NO $50 policies. Are you daft? You aren't watching the kazillion stories in the news where people's premiums have doubled and tripled?

Also, young people who can be on their parents policy - another small problem. They can also get a subsidy at the same time. A glitch, they will have the money taken back out of their tax returns.

The lady in charge of obamacare testified today. THE HEAD LADY - COULDN'T SAY HOW MANY HAVE ACTUALLY GOTTEN A POLICY OVER AND OVER.

That's because so few have, it is embarrassing.
