4/7/2014 6:00:00 AM Kingman Letters: Wheelchair kids will swing
During the month of March, I conducted a citywide 50/50 drawing in hopes of raising money to help the Little Explorers Early Learning Center, located at La Senita campus. This money would go towards the installation of two wheelchair accessible swings for the 17 students who attend there and aren't able to play during recess like the other kids. The total funds raised were $4,400 for the 50/50, with half of that going to the project and the other half to the winner. Not included in the drawing were straight donations from Cantrell Development for $500 and from Echo Solutions Storage for $200. Angle Homes and Desert Construction donated a huge amount of valuable time, effort and materials to get the entire project started at the campus.
I must mention some of the other large contributors that helped. Innovative Stonework and Landscaping donated $200. Tabatha Lent also donated $200. The Desert Road Riders Motorcycle Club contributed $140.
Venture Club of Kingman, Kingman Furniture, Bob Bass, Slightly High Maintenance, Jim Hubka, Kerry Raymond, Marilyn Howard, Brenda Prudham, Helena Baughman, KUSD Superintendent Roger Jacks, and The Mail Room were all involved at the $100 level.
There were so many people who dug deep and did what they could to help. I couldn't possibly mention each individual. Please know that you helped make a big difference in the lives of some awesome kids this month. Congratulations to Katie B. for winning the $2,200!
