Letter: A peace offering for Lori

The June 30 "Thanks" letter from Lori Gabriel-Dane, whom I considered my polar opposite, was an eye-opener to be sure. Her negativity that often borders on hatred toward those who disagree with her (Republicans and those who find fault with her hero, Obama), has a positive side! Her love for her extended family, her well spelled out proclivity for housecleaning, caring for her children, hard work, and not giving in to old age, paint the picture of a good neighbor and a model mother.

Her letter does not sound like the person who vilifies all Republicans, all conservatives, and anyone who does not think that Obama is sacrosanct!

I have much in common with her. Father's Day, though less celebrated, was 35 days more recent than Mother's Day, so let the old rooster crow a little. I first married 58 years ago, at age 17. That marriage lasted until July 25, 2005, when my first wife died suddenly from a terrible stroke. A life-long friend died shortly after and I am now happily married to his wife!

I have worked hard all my life, including a successful business I started in 1979 and sold in 2009 to retire in Golden Valley. I have great children and grandchildren; I have always pitched in to share the housework, from diapers to Little League manager (8 years) and on. I am a Goldwater/Reagan Conservative, but I have many friends (and a wife) who are Democrats.

I tend to like everyone by making my guiding light a positive attitude. I do not, by class or by politics, hate anyone. I live happy! I think Obama is the worst president ever, but I would play golf with him.

There is hope for you, Lori Gabriel-Dane, lighten up, make some friends on the "other side" and add to your deserved gold standard mother/grannie stats.

Garry Saylor

"Actually it is not “free in the library.” The taxpayers paid for it."

Good point. All the more reason to give any homeless person using it as a hangout the bums rush.

Thanks for clarifying who pays for it.

"but remember, as you have said many, many times – “Polls are always slanted and don’t actually mean anything." "

"as you have said many times"? Really? And who is "you" that has said that. You are using it as a quote, you realize that, right?

Since you are putting it as a quote and saying that someone here has said it "many times", you should have no trouble at all naming that person. And as you have said, "be specific". Please, oh pleeeeeeeese demand that I provide you with proof of your saying that.

Failure by you to provide evidence that the quote you used was used by anyone here will just lead me to conclude it is nothing more than the usual, hyperbolic AN B.S. you are well known for here.

Free speech and the use of it in such a manner truly makes us all better people !!

God bless America and those who have fought for it !!!

@ Fredrick Williams,

Congress doesn't have to do anything to make OB look bad, he does a great job of that all by himself and, Yes his antics are hurting our country and he couldn't be more pleased with himself!!!!!!

Linda,

I agree we can surely get to a 3rd world status with Obama ruining America.

When you hear Obama speaking of "an equal/level playing field" with other countries and economies, what he means is he desires NOT to elevate the other country's potential but to LOWER America's economical abilities to 3rd world standards of living.

He desires to “humble” America at the feet of Arab and sub-Sahara countries in retaliation for America’s intervention in past affairs.

He wants to be worshipped and praised by the 3rd world and does not care what Americans think of him.

He knows that if ANY Americans disparage him, Hollywood 1%er elites, race baiters and media attack dogs will protect him and counter attack.

So what America thinks of him, matters not.

He is the self-appointed Avenger, seeking global status as the ONE that brought America to its knees.

Shame people don’t know that.

He tells you in his books. But don’t buy it. It’s free in the library.

Frederick D. Williams:

Would you give us your thoughts on why this admin advertised for workers to help relocate 65,000 "immigrant" children into the U. S., why no Senator/Congressman visiting to see the situations w/these children are not allowed to ask questions of children/staff, take pictures?

Your views on why obama himself won't even go to the various "camps" to see about their well being?

How about why, UNDER OATH, when an ass't secy of Health and Human Services (HHS) was asked if the people supposedly SPONSORING these children and to whom many are being turned over to, ARE NOT EVEN ASKED IF THEY THEMSELVES ARE HERE LEGALLY, after stumbling around, finally admitted UNDER OATH, they are not asked nor verified to be legal at all.

Pastors and churches banned.

But Nancy Pelosi was allowed to speak to them, say she would love to take them all home w/her but no room. A multi-millionaire, she could house thousands of them.

Do you honestly believe, an illegal accepting one of these illegal children is going to show up at an ICE office in two weeks?

What do you think of Democrat Steny Hoyer saying " we cannot continue to take in all these people...except for ones too sick to travel...they should be deported immediately?"

You always nail it. You said -

>>>like buying electric cars and being against coal when coal is what fuels their electric cars. <<<<

AND

>>>The liberal has shown themselves to be tyrants not willing to live and let live...or learn…<<<<

So true. They bill themselves as tolerant of everyone else and yet are the most intolerant people on earth as evidenced by the Hobby Lobby ruling....forcing Christians to provide abortifacients against their religion. They have no tolerance for Christianity (slaughter of Sarah Palin and the Tea Party are typical examples).

Speaking of motherhood, I have no doubt Lori and I are both heartbroken at the Central American children.

But get this. Not everyone is. The rules to even visit them. No pictures, no phones, you cannot speak to the children or staff, cannot ask them questions, must be led around to only where the Obama's workers take you and they will mail you their OWN pics later on. This all is a form of child abuse to the max.

ANYONE working there who rats the truth out can not only be fired instantly, they can also be jailed. And workers are not allowed to have their phones on the premises.

Are we a banana republic yet. Just about. Two more years should finish us off.

I've talked to Lori, she's a nice person with absolute love for her family. Outside of religion and politics we could be good friends with much in common, outside of religion and politics.

That's what makes this country great, our 1st amendment. I bet if anyone of us posting on here came upon another who was injured and in dire need of help, None of us would ask before rendering help, are you Christian or democrat, republican or an independent!!
That's what makes us as a Whole an Exceptional Nation!!

Blessings

You almost have to laugh at the righties who have taken great joy in the poll claiming Obama to be the worst president in history. At almost the same point in The Criminals eight year reign of error polls showed him as, “the worst president in history.” Same thing for Ronald the Dim and Tricky Dick, but curiously Clinton never made that list.

Other polls show that The Criminal has been rated as the third worst world leader in history, falling behind Hitler and Stalin with Obama coming in at number fourteen.

On the presidential scale another poll shows The Criminal as being the worst president in history, followed by Andrew Johnson, James Buchanan, Obama, Nixon, Carter, Hoover, Pierce, Jackson, Harding, Regan, and on it goes from there.

So enjoy your gloating righties, but remember, as you have said many, many times – “Polls are always slanted and don’t actually mean anything.”

I find it amusing when I read that politics is dirtier today than in past, guess many either slept through their history lessons or just plainly did not pay attention, in our past we had political leaders who fought duels over their political differences, one in fact beat a fellow politician on a legislative floor with a cane, newspapers have long played the political game by posting articles siding with one side or the other in a political argument, this paper definitely panders to its base the right wing/tea party types, Mohave County is a definite republican strong hold, not knocking the paper for its partisan leanings, again nothing new in this! Republicans and Democrats are like oil and water they do not mix at all, no matter how you might try its not going to mix! The problem with some folks right, middle and left is they do not realize the sun does not shine on one dogs tail all the time it has to shine on some other dogs tail some of the time, hence we have the see saw of one side reigning for a time and then the other for a time! Its just the way things are!

"....then the minute that Democrats respond in kind...."

And, of course, you will never be able to provide any example of that having ever actually occurred. But I do get a good laugh out of your weak and very lame "But, but, but, but....Republicans were mean first!"excuse. lol

@Lori G-D

"And I think Bush was a horrible President"

Of course you do. I remember not long ago when you foolishly stated:

"I never agreed with ANYTHING Bush did!"

And when I pointed out that your statement would also include the massive amount of money spent during his presidency to combat AIDS in Africa and the fact he signed a bill shortly before leaving office providing extended unemployment to people who had exhausted their benefits.......you were silent.

Hey, did you hear how two CO dems running for re-election, Udall and Hickenlooper, both refuse to be seen in public with Obama when he is visiting the state. Pretty much tells you right there that the love is definitely is gone.

LOL

"That's funny being that his term isn't over yet"

I hate to break it to you, but someone can be called the worst president ever as soon as their performance as president becomes worse than all of the presidents that preceded him or her.

Once one's performance reaches the level of worse president ever, the only way one can be relieved of that honor is at such a time that a subsequent president 's performance is determined to be even more dismal.

So, for at least the next 2 and a half years, Obama does not have to worry about losing his honor of being the worst president ever.

Garry,

Thank you for your kind words. But I just want to let you know that I didn't always hate Republicans - There were a few good ones, but I don't like what Republicans stand for now, and I think Bush was a horrible president. V.P. Cheney ran this country, not Bush. And Cheney was all about war and money. I don't like the Tea party folfs either, they seem to run the Republican party now, and for all the wrong reasons. Like I said in one of my other letters, there never has, and never will be a perfect president. But when a party is more interested in destroying the current president rather than help get this country back on the right track, as Obama has tried to do, I have absolutely use or respect for them. I don't hate anyone, either. But the Tea party and the GOP make it real easy to dislike them tremendously. Again, thank you for your kind words.

It's that other lady -- the one who goes on and on about herself while writing on other peoples obituary memorial pages. Is that who you mean Garry?

Sad to say, you can’t negotiate with terrori…I mean, liberals.

Like so many tyrannical Totalitarians, they take any overtures of peace, compromise or understanding as a weakness. (Ironically, or maybe not, the same traits held by current terrorists’ regimes)

Any kindness or opening they find to bolster illogical and unrealistic ideas and beliefs, they HAVE to attack you because their fantasies don’t jive with the realities.

They have to assail you personally as if somehow that act of contrition or even a typo, totally invalidates your logic and argument.

Most liberals have a schizophrenic like logic in processing values, which helps us understand how they tend to act and be hypocritical and hold a vehement value that runs counter to their other values.

In other words, the liberal shows inconsistent ideologies and morals exampled as grown men crying over a woman’s right to choose, while they can scarcely contain their drooling at the thought of more infanticide, erstwhile protesting the execution of human monsters.

Or like buying electric cars and being against coal when coal is what fuels their electric cars.

Again, you cannot apologize, or compromise with tyrants.

The liberal has shown themselves to be tyrants not willing to live and let live...or learn…

Two things I learned will cause anger, disagreement more than anything one can discuss in this life, politics/religion! A old country southern farmer whom my republican father was trying to convince to turn from democrat to republican told a interesting comparison of the two as the choice of the lesser or two evils! My mother a democrat, me non-political at 16, listened and watched, as the old farmer stated two fat men sat at a table eating a feast, all us common folks sat on the floor uninvited, one a democrat the other a republican, both ate greedily, gluttonously, the republican let not one crumb hit the floor, the democrat flicked a couple crumbs to the floor, the old farmer asked my dad would you prefer a crumb or none, I laughed and my dad gave me a look that could kill, he stuttered unable to respond, this old farmer was 85, now long dead but I have never forgot the old corny story he told my dad, mom and dad divorced they were like oil and water was not all their political views dad had a love for alcohol/younger women, my mother was a saint in my eyes, loved them both realized the two were happier apart! Republicans and democrats are like oil and water they do not mix!
