Letter: Charged up about batteries

You know, folks, I think that I'm going to need some storage space and I may even need to hire some help. Let me tell you what happened. When the batteries in my remote went dead, I had to jump in my car and run to the big store to get more. When I got there, I found out that I could not buy just one, but I had to buy a pack of eight.

What am I going to do with eight batteries?

You know, I think the manufacturer could see that his stock was piling up, which was going to be a problem because he was not selling batteries and he had to do something about it. He figured out the best way to move more out was to put more batteries in a package rather than sell one at a time.

That way, he clears out his stock and makes the customer carry it, clears warehouse space, cuts his overhead that will increase his bottom line, and lets the customer carry the cash outlay instead of him.

You know, I think that works well for the manufacturer, but what am I going to do when I get some of these batteries that have gone down and some even dead? But, thinking on it more, if I keep my stock up and get around to buying two packs at a time, I won't have to worry about running out of batteries anymore!

I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH 8 HOTDOGS TO THE PACKAGE AND ONLY 6 BUNS. SO WHAT DO I DO? BUY MORE DOGS OR GIVE THE LAST TWO TO MY DOG!

Unc

“Somehow Nephew, you miss the point time and time again.”

No, Unc, I don’t.

“It was humor, get a grip, get a life,…”

And my response was as well.

Now do you see why you’re never invited to Thanksgiving Dinner anymore?

Somehow Nephew, you miss the point time and time again. It was humor, get a grip, get a life, and stop your campaigning as a legend in your own mind.

Check out the rechargeables on the market right now. The first investment isn't that bad, and they can be charged years on end without any issues. They also come in packs of 2. Look up "Eneloop" for some really awesome rechargeable batteries.

Or, you know, you can just buy a 4 pack and stick them in the fridge and call it a day. And even if that doesn't do it for you, go to a neighbor and ask for a battery or two.

It isn't a manufacturing scheme. No need for the tin foil hats here.

If you're looking to save money, go to the .99 cents store, I have found their batteries last just as long as the major brands, don't know about long term storage tho, they do show have a shelf life of 2 - 4 years.

The never-ending calamities faced by Kingman residents makes one wonder how they are able to function day to day. Just consider the misery of having to buy a book of stamps, or a six-pack of beer. The horror, the horror.

And of course there is the point that if one did not shop at the “big store” batteries in packs of two, just right for that recalcitrant remote, can be found.
