Letter: Terrorists don't represent Islam

Peace be with you.

This is a common greeting among Christians, Muslims and Jews. Peace was not to be found in Mosul recently. Terrorists claiming to be the new Islamic caliphate insisted Christians either convert or face severe consequences, even death. Nothing about them represents Islam.

So terrible an offense to Islam is this action of terrorists that even the spiritual leader of jihadis in Jordan has condemned this as contrary to jihad, contrary to Islam and insult to all Muslims. There are other voices in the Islamic world that have formed alliances such as "Muslims Against Terror."

This terrorist organization is an affront to all Muslims. It is no more an example of Islam than the Orange Volunteers of Northern Ireland are of Protestants or the NLFT in North Eastern India are of Christians in general. All extremism in the name of religion is outright evil and contrary to the God and the religious label they claim.

Ramadan ended Monday. The holy month for Muslims is to fast and deepen compassion in their hearts for those who are weaker and vulnerable. Not only are they to deepen religious sensibilities such as restraint and discipline, but also deepen their religious obligation to charity. Many of us Christians do a limited fast for 40 days or shorter periods for those seeking a strict fast. But none of our fasts compare to the strict Islamic fast of Ramadan: no food or water from sunrise to sunset.

Thus in admiration I extend peace to our brothers and sisters here in Kingman who serve in our medical community and other peace-building occupations that they be seen as the real face of Islam and not be besmirched by extremists who offend all that is holy and good in humanity. May you be greeted with peace and not suspicion, and I hope you had a great feast at the end of Ramadan.

Peace be with you.

Fr. Leonard Walker

"you and the others inclusive in my original post have commented frequently and at great length over vast periods of time bragging about your "exemplary" Christianity......"

I am not a Christian, and have never claimed to be in ANY comment.

I notice you refused to answer the question I asked by failing to provide any quote from any comment where I have claimed to be one. All you did was repeat what you said in your previous comment. You also failed to refute or provide any evidence at all to prove anything I said about the muslim/terrorist religion is false.

Like most liberals, you figure if you repeat a ridiculous claim enough times, someone will begin to believe you.

Dear F.L.S.

Re your statement: I have two questions for you:

1. What person commenting here mentioned their being a Christian? I read every comment and not one person did. You just assumed people were.

2. Using my comments here as an example, what did I relate about muslims that was NOT true?

My answer to both is that you and the others inclusive in my original post have commented frequently and at great length over vast periods of time bragging about your "exemplary" Christianity and used it to pillory others, especially the vast majority of Muslims who practice Islam.

There are many Muslims in this community, most of them professionals (doctors, etc.) and I hope you're not a patient of one of them, or if you are, then pray they never read your hateful comments.

“Bob Moore: Until you even understand the Holy Bible of the Christians, you continue to show your ignorance of it by posting verses that you don't even understand.”

So the following are not commands put forth by God in the Holy Bible? Please, tell us exactly what are they?
“You must kill those who worship another god.” Exodus 22:20
“Kill any friends or family that worship a god that is different than your own.” Deuteronomy 13:6-10
“Kill all the inhabitants of any city where you find people that worship differently than you.” Deuteronomy 13:12-16
“Kill everyone who has religious views that are different than your own.” Deuteronomy 17:2-7
“Kill anyone who refuses to listen to a priest.” Deuteronomy 17:12-13
“Kill any false prophets.” Deuteronomy 18:20
“Any city that doesn’t receive the followers of Jesus will be destroyed in a manner even more savage than that of Sodom and Gomorrah.” Mark 6:11
“Jude reminds us that God destroys those who don’t believe in him.” Jude 5

”Christianity is the greatest thing to ever hit this earth...”

How odd, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, et al make the same claim. I wonder who is right?

Always fun to watch “Christians” and their interpretation of the Bible.

You are misinformed. No surprise if you are a student these days. Called revisionist history.

The KKK was the Democrat Party. But please, don't take my word for it. Look it up for yourself. An active part of the Democrat Party, the KKK, present at the Democrat Conventions..

And student, Christians never tortured blacks, they were the movement in America to set the blacks free. But again, please, don't take my word for it. Find out for yourself. Take some time, get out of the revisionist history crap and find out the real truth.

Christianity is the greatest thing to ever hit this earth...starting with of course, God actually creating this earth.

Bob Moore:

Until you even understand the Holy Bible of the Christians, you continue to show your ignorance of it by posting verses that you don't even understand.

Meanwhile, when I quote the quran, it IS actually what they are commanded to do, kill any non-muslim believers, especially Jews.

Watched C-Span tonight - the gathering of Israel haters who were defending the Palestinians. Of course, they were doing so on our soil, where they have freedom, some being college professors of course. Worldwide, Christians and Jews are being slaughtered. Not a peep in our liberal press.

Hamas, who the Palestinians, still on soil given to the Jews by God, elected has lobbed 3000 missiles into Israel. They do it daily. Two-thirds of Israelites are living in bomb shelters. They are built at all playgrounds. Every Israelite has 15 seconds to make it into a shelter should the bomb come down on them.

When they retaliate, Hamas chains women, children and the insane in front to be killed, then shows the world the evils of Israel. Now even France and Germany are marching against Israel. We're so dumbed down, we believe it.

Hamas built 100 tunnels into Israel to kidnap Jews - sophisticated, cost millions, used Israeli cement. Iran is funding them, giving their assistance.

"you've now had a taste of our own home-grown hate-filled jihadists who unfortunately consider themselves (quite loudly too) as exemplar Christians."

******************
Jihadi, or jihadist, refers to a person who believes that an Islamic state governing the entire community of Muslims must be created, and that this necessity justifies violent conflict with those who stand in its way.

Although jihad is a concept that can be found in the Quran, the terms jihadi, jihadi ideology and jihadi movement are modern concepts related to the rise of political Islam in the 19th and 20th centuries. (Political Islam is also called Islamism, and its adherents Islamists.)
*******************

Typical liberal. You used a term that by definition, cannot even be applied to a Christian.

Too bad, I'll bet you right after pressing submit you were thinking you were quite the wit.

I have two questions for you:

1. What person commenting here mentioned their being a Christian? I read every comment and not one person did. You just assumed people were.

2. Using my comments here as an example, what did I relate about muslims that was NOT true?

Be specific.

But I expect that you will not respond at all.

Old trick and nice try.

The KKK are Christian I believe, but they have not been cutting off heads, burning homosexuals alive, stoning women, pedophilia, raping and kidnapping.

Really? Trying to justify terrorist acts of horror by implying a racist group that doesn't engage in violence but usually only burn crosses, get drunk and usually just sit around telling racial jokes can't be elevated to a world terrorist organization.

Strange Days Indeed.

Well, Fr. Walker, you've now had a taste of our own home-grown hate-filled jihadists who unfortunately consider themselves (quite loudly too) as exemplar Christians. I'm sorry you had to experience this distasteful display, because it is clear you are a man of peace. Please keep up your good works and words of love and peace. Someday they may break through the shell of abject fear and meanness that encases so many of our local residents.

Sad that people who criticize and those that defend do not know the basic difference between Christianity and every other "religion" ever invented or followed.

Those of the athiest faith or religion are not excused. You likewise need to know.

A Christian worships a living God.

That is the defining basic truth for the Christian.

I am simply defining. I am not preaching, defending or making an argument. It is patently obvious to me, from reviewing the majority of remarks made here that very few of the posters understand this. And if you are a Christioan, do not for get it.

Build on it from there.

“Mr. Moore, Where do you get this business about chain e-mails??”

Well, nothing else comes close to explaining the utter nonsense that you post here daily that parrots the garbage seen in chain e-mails.

“NO Islam and Christians Do Not worship the same God!!”

Yes, they do and you positing they do not will never make it true.

“As for the Quran…instructs that all Infidels be killed. That would be All of us who are not one of them.”

You mean like the Christian Bible that advocates the same thing?
“You must kill those who worship another god.” Exodus 22:20
“Kill any friends or family that worship a god that is different than your own.” Deuteronomy 13:6-10
“Kill all the inhabitants of any city where you find people that worship differently than you.” Deuteronomy 13:12-16

“Jude reminds us that God destroys those who don’t believe in him.” Jude 5
Darn those pesky facts!

I find some peoples comments so entertaining, they obsess over my comments I guess I have hurt their tender feelings, or some how embarrassed them in some odd way I cannot fathom! I think someone on staff actually post here since takes no rocket scientist to figure some commenters have carte blanch to post anything, in any manner, even ad hominem type comments, guess the new system might cause them job insecurity if it were discovered they were using their position on staff to pander to their political and or religious views or the lack thereof! I bet a dime to a donut these folks will post but maybe not from their job computer but instead from home which means they have to use one alias or two and cannot appear to be legion!

(")One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter!(")

Should have put it as a quote, as I did. It was first used in a 1975 novel by Gerald Seymour, a British writer, in a novel called Harry's Game. Not doing so might make some people think you came up with it.

"I think terrorism is not knew...."

And I think terrorism is not NEW. What's your point?

"Anyone who has ever read history can know this...."

But why should we local yokels what ain't gots enuff book larnin' read history books when we have you, the resident scholar, to tell us the true facts. Like how in colonial times, people "used cocaine with abandon", even though they did not and there is no evidence, anywhere, that suggests they ever did.

"...but some seem to think terrorism is a new thing...."

You can tell us who "some" of those people are, right? I would settle for you producing even ONE who has ever said anything to suggest they think it is a "new thing". But alas, you never return to back up your claims, you just disappear until you make the next one.

Maybe you should try reading a history book, or any book at all, before telling others to do so.

Admit it, you'll miss me on the 6th when I'm gone and will no longer be here to gently educate you on your mistakes. Which are legion.

LOL

What is new is the acceptance, trivializations and the excusing of it by the leftist of our society.

One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter! I think terrorism is not knew, in ancient times conquering armies terrorized the conquered into submission with acts of horror that could rival anything done today! Anyone who has ever read history can know this but some seem to think terrorism is a new thing its been around since mankind organized that first war party!

I don't get such things and certainly would not trust such for news and information.

@ Local Student,

NO Islam and Christians Do Not worship the same God!!
Christians believe in Jesus who is the Son of God, a totally different person than the Prophet the Muslim Islams worship, don't become so fooled by such rhetoric coming from Muslim Islams who want you to fall for such stuff.
As for the Quran, it's full of peace as long as you are one of them but, instructs that all Infidels be killed. That would be All of us who are not one of them.
I don't know where you go to school but, if a local high school that could be where you got your ideas from in the World History class. Problem is that book is extremely lacking in facts when it comes to Muslim Islam/Christianity!

My relatives live in Sweden. They tell me the part of Malmo that houses Muslims is so violent that emergency vehicles will not enter it. The Muslims are attacking people going into their neighborhoods. England is having the same problem and I read that England has 60 Sharia courts. England says their courts over rule the Muslim courts yet the Muslims will not use England courts so they stay stuck in the Sharia court rulings. Hope to never see this hear, but who knows what will happen.

Found this story today:

(CNSNews.com)-- Urging Arabs living in Israel to take to the streets, a Hamas official assured them they have nothing to fear because Hamas only aims their missiles at “the homes of Israelis and Zionists."

"We say to (Israeli Arabs), living in Haifa, Jaffa, Acre, Lod, Ramla, and the Negev: The rockets fired by the Al-Qassam Brigades will not hit you," said Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum in a July 11 video clip translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) from Al-Aqsa TV, the official Hamas television station.

Only muslims would be stupid enough to believe the missiles are guided and will hit only “the homes of Israelis and Zionists."

Religion of peace? Nope

But the question is who does represent Islam?

The only people standing up and stating their goals and theology are the extremists/terrorists.

I’m not hearing any condemnation from the so called “moderate” Muslims.

No condemnation from the moderates on the slavery and beatings taking place in Saudi from the “friendly” Muslims…our allies.

No condemnation for the rapes, pedophilia, stoning of women, burning of homosexuals, bombings, suicide bombings, exhorting of other religions and the numerous beheadings and the desecration of the corpses, even to the point of playing soccer with the detached heads.

Where are the upstanding “moderate” Muslims?

I understand not taking a stand in those murderous countries but the American Muslim is free to speak and protected by law, Christians and neighbors but they opt to remain silent.

It reminds me of the black Americans that remain mute when hateful race mongers make accusations of “racism” in America.

Looks like a few people better get a backbone before their accusations become self-fulfilling prophecies.

To see a great photo of how hamas treats the less fortunate members of their community. Do a search using, "Israeli soldier helping mentally ill Palestinian chained to building by hamas", and take a look at the photo.

And of course, the followers of the "religion of peace" claim they are not using human sheilds.

I wonder how many followers of the "religion of peace" ignored and walked by him while he was chained there?

Keep on making excuses for muslims. They are counting on you.

"Do none of you know of the Crusades? War and murder in the name of God?"

So what you are saying is that the overwhelming majority of Christians have evolved and gotten past the crusade in the intervening centuries, while muslims have not.

Regarding the koran, you liberals love to accuse Christians in being selective about the Bible. In the muslim world a very large percentage of them are illiterate barbarians. What they know about the koran comes only from what they are taught by their leaders in the mosque.

"It is people like you, that gives us that ignorant stereotypes."

And it is liberals like you, along with a as a gullible, Neville Chambers-esque, president who confirm all of the usual liberal stereotypes. What's your point?

By the way, I was reading to day that the formerly large population of Christians in Mosul, Iraq has now been reduced to near zero after being told to leave, pay a special tax in gold, convert, or die. Looks like they are doing the same thing they were doing centuries ago. Some things never change, especially with muslims.

Don't ever change, the muslims would be disappointed at losing such a valuable ally.

The media will never tell you the truth about the Islamic violence in other parts of the world. I know I have lived in An Islamic country. Look at France, the Muslims are so violent in parts of France that they call them areas the no go zones, not even emergency vehicles dear to go. If they were majority here it would have been much different.

You guys talk about Islam like it is the only religion that has any violence. Do none of you know of the Crusades? War and murder in the name of God?
Muslims believe in the same god as other religions. Quran 2:136 "We believe in Allah, and the revelation given to us, and to Abraham, Isma’il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and that given to Moses and Jesus, and that given to (all)
prophets from their Lord: We make no difference between one and another of them."
Quran 16:82 says, " But if they turn away from you, (O Prophet remember that) your only duty is a clear delivery of the Message (entrusted to you)." Which means that should one not believe in Islam, then the only thing you should give them is what the Message is, not physical harm. Please don't just be ignorant rednecks. It is people like you, that gives us that ignorant stereotypes. It is the inability to accept others that folks in other countries (not just the middle eastern countries either) dislike us as Americans. Please don't make thigs worse, and actually educate yourselves, rather than the things you hear spun off from the media. Take the initiative to learn for yourselves rather than what others have told you. Read the Quran if that what it takes!

”Let's be truthful.”

“Time you wake up to the truth.”

Okay, as soon as you tell us the truth about the trash that Obama is not an American citizen, his supposed use of another man’s social security number, his purportedly being gay, his attending college on a Fulbright Scholarship and your voting for JFK in 1960, we might – just might – consider your concept of the truth.

We’ll be waiting.
