Kingman Letter: Political football

Are all of you tired of reading this column and seeing nothing constructive being said? Ms. Two-last-names can only turn her head to the left. Then there is the other side that can only turn their heads to the right.

Kinda reminds me of football with the replacement officials not knowing what they are doing. When football has the right people in there, the game runs more smoothly. Let's take the left and place them in front of the right, facing each other. Now when they turn their heads, they will both be looking the same way. Right? If we can just get them to mold together, we might get some things done for the good of the ol' U.S.A.

Now, who are the right people? Only time will tell. There is a group of old guys that meets every day at the KRMC cafeteria around 7 a.m. every day. Stop in and say hello and give us your two cents. Thank you.

Paul Howard

Article comment by: No on Prop 121

Joe S, in my opinion it would Prop 121 would truly destroy any attempts at balance in this area. Like you said it would pit the right wing against the right wing with the result being more radical candidates. I have to chuckle the no government candidates fight so hard to get that government job.

“i am not looking up anything for you and you don't get to boss me around. but here's a hint. it is one of the amendments.”

of course you’re not going to look anything up because there is nothing to find. and btw – it is not, “one of the amendments.” so once again please explain what the constitution has to do with this?

“I agree... but can you please learn some grammar and punctuation?”

You might as well give up on that one. I was $#@&^ slapped hard and my posts censored – uhh, deleted, for attempting to get a modicum of correct English posted here.

And yes, Tj, FLS, Stokes, et al, I too am guilty of errors on occasion.

To Linda Athens:

You wrote, "Our real problem is a spiritual one. We were founded as a Christian nation and the founders said the documents worked only for a Christian nation and at least an acknowledgement of that."

So says you! If these documents supposedly work only for a Christian nation, then why is it that the founders decided to allow everyone the freedom of religion? Doesn't that mean that we do NOT have to be Christian? Or does that mean that for those of us who wish to not adhere to Christianity or any other religion, we are not protected under the Constitution or any other of the Founder's documents? And please tell us exactly where it says that these documents will only work for a Christian nation. I don't recall reading anything like that.

“We were founded as a Christian nation …”

No matter how many times you say it, it is still, and always be, incorrect.

“So you advoctate censorship when the views are those you do not like. Figured as much long ago.”

I did not say that. Why do you keep trying to put words in my mouth (or posts to be accurate)?

@Paul

Yeah, but most people in Kingman like it that way. That's why I moved, otherwise I'd join you all.

@James Savage

I agree... but can you please learn some grammar and punctuation?

@Linda
If one party has it completely right then please show me the data for overwhelming success in the state with the most Republican elected officials.

"The other five parties I know of get air time at 3:AM, but is this what we want?"

When one of those other 5 parties actually considered Roasanne Barr for their presidential candidate, they should feel lucky they get even a 3 a.m. time slot. (it is likely all their massive polical war chest can afford, LOL) Barr did not win, of course, but the socialist who did, Jill Stein, is only a bit less of a loon.

This is America, so feel free to send your money to support any third party loon that appeals to you. Or you could just flush some money down the toilet.....it is pretty much the same thing.

LOL

No education is needed to see that only two parties get represntation to the White House. That must be OK with most Americans? The other five parties I know of get air time at 3:AM, but is this what we want? After each candidate that fills out the papers to run for this office and gets $25'000.00 in tax payer campaign money, It's our money and we do not even know their names. So, lets brag about are out dated, un-equal ballance of political power that no longer represents us. (We The People)

@TJ Denton

"if too many people disagree with me then just shut it down because it isnt fair."

Now, now TJ, I have to take his side on this one. He has never asked for that. Though I am sure he would like to see any speech he doe not like eliminated...... ideally by a big govt. agency that monitors speech, he is not stupid enough to demand it publically. But he does seem to whine a lot about how his inciteful comments that speak truth to power are not allowed on by a biased editor for a paper with a conservative agenda.

Hey, remember the hick who could not spell who used to comment all the time and had the same complaint. Total opposite end of the political spectrum from AN? I wonder whatever happened to him. I miss him. Have not seen his hysterically funny writings in a long long time.

LOL

I agree with you totally. Get the 2 best people out there for the final. On more than one occasion I've been torn between 2 members of the same party...because I felt either one would be a good choice...but could only choose one to move on. Just doesn't seem right. Since we already have areas dominated by either one party or the other...it would seem it wouldn't make much difference except to get the 2 best people out there for the final vote.

Interesting comments Joe. I feel the same about Prop 121. It has it’s downside in this Loon County, but I still feel that overall it is the right way for the state to go. So I will be voting yes.

You do know that between us we just killed the passage of 121 in Mohave County?

I couldn't agree more David Rogers.
The Miner, specifically Thurlow, is so worried about hurting someone's feelings or getting into trouble for printing the facts about someone that they are operating a fact-based source of media with their own legal paranoia, or nonsensical slant, as their guide.
These comments are just that, comments.
Print them all and let the folks doing the reading decide if there is merit to them. It is not your job Thurlow, to decide who and what to censor. Let the paper be the forum it is intended to be and let the chips fall where they may.

With a web-administrator that dislikes this section and the constant ravings of the Right Wing Loon Idiot Fringe the best thing would be to juts shut down the Opinions section completely. At least that would bring to an end the massive amount of lies that have to be debunked on a daily basis.

I have found in life I own my own eyes, mind, can read what I wish too, visit what ever web media, television I wish too, hence whining at reading something one dislikes is a bit amusing to me, since if one does not like reading a column, news commentary section, etc., simply do not read it! Unless one is addicted to a masochistic self torture cannot see what this letter is about!

@ David , To all the really nice people that have stated that the KDM is biased,well they will print your point of view as they have with you stating that they are a part of our problems.In reallity you did not state any pacific reason or statement to verify , however let's say you are correct in your statement and the paper prints the honest and true correction you know someone without all the knowledge will state that the paper is one sided in reverse.
No one is perfect and they do search for the truth.The kdm has been a blessing to our community and continues to grow and supplies local knowledge to the internet,there is a old statement -can't win for loosing ,the best to you !
