Letters: Progressive view takes the lead

In our Declaration of Independence, the second paragraph states: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights...." Since Obama took office, one of his first statements was "America is no longer a Christian nation." It seems since then all references to Christianity have been "disallowed" or ruled against. This is most evident in our schools.

No longer is any form of prayer allowed in public schools, not even before a football game. Any symbol of God that a student may have is "outlawed" now by judges and school administrators. We must be tolerant of Islam, but Christianity is banned.

Is it any wonder that our students these days are lost without any sense of true values of morals, decency, respect for teachers, parents and elders?

Seems this goes back more than just one generation. The Progressive view is winning in America.

God, please help us keep our nation as it was meant to be.

I didn't even vote for Obama, and I am sick of the right wing nuts whining and crying about how Obama "stole the election". Funny, Myth Romney tried to out hustle and out cheap shot Obama and he lost. Stop whining and get over it.

That is if their is a America left it wont be the America I love and fought for. Mrs. Dane and all you other lefties you talk about being American well Ill tell you a little secrete its more than words. What have you done for your country lately.

How will you do when you wake up and find you are in a place that you are the minority you voice is not heard you have no rights and you cant even see a Dr. in a timely manner?
I just wonder how hard you all will cry foul then. what will you do as the Islamic community becomes even more prevalent and Christians are prosecuted here in what used to be America. Who will stand up and fight ? You ? We will see I know I will not and my kids will not I will not let them if I'm ignored I will ignore good luck getting your country back !

Obama may have called for inclusion and respect for all from time to time, however, he has also said and done things to demonize and exclude groups of people, (for example middle class whites, white males, "the rich", the Tea Party, America, Israel , and "typical white women").

Obama talks out of both sides of his mouth and is only interested in one group of people: his own self.

He doesn't care about you, America or Americans.
I just hope it is not too late for you to realize the truth.

I would say, yes. Ryan knew he had hitched himself to a wagon with no wheels and spent a fortune running for his Congressional seat and won, thereby insuring that once again he would never have to work for a living (I mean the guy has sucked off the taxpayers from the time he was 16).

As to Willard the Money Hider it is so odd how we were told what a magnanimous person he is and how he works indefatigably for downtrodden and poor and yet he has not shown up anywhere in New York, New Jersey or Connecticut to help clean up that mess. Prior to his becoming a loser he was all about how Obama should be “on the ground” helping with the clean-up efforts. So where is Willard?

I have a theory. He has been sequestered with his accountants trying to find out how to submit an amended tax return so he can claim al of the charitable deductions for 2011 that he passed over to make it look like he actually pays taxes. And I am sure he is trying to find a way to move more wealth overseas while working to find more American businesses to kill off and send the jobs to COMMUNIST CHINA. Oh, Willard is busy, you can bet your life on that.

The voter turnout for Obama went beyond urban areas the president also won non-urban areas in New Hampshire and Iowa.
"The president deserves kudos for having a fantastic ground game," says Ryan. "And the point I'm simply making is, he won. He won fair and square. He got more votes. And that's-- that's the way our system works. And so he ought to be congratulated for that."

Before the election there had been a whole lot of hype about Zombie's. At the time I didn't believe in them, however, like Hannity, I have evolved and am ready to admit they do exist, if you don't believe so yourself then just keep watching the GOP.

A.N., thanks for taking the time to try to educate the anti-Obamaites that Mr. President has always called for inclusion and respect for all groups. This is pedantic of me, I know, but here we go. Agnostics don't know if they believe in a creator or not - that's why they're agnostic. Buddhists don't concern themselves with the question, because it's not relevant to what they're doing.

No wonder the right wing is losing slowly but surely, they cannot see the writing on the wall for the fog in their brains where they think they have a mythical majority, but fact is only 32% register republican nationally, and in Arizona around 34%, my math is poor, but neither figure is a 50.1%! Now me I am happy for the right wing to self destruct, as a partisan democrat I will not morn their demise!

This is for the Romney pundits that keep complaining that Obama won because of “Free Stuff”, look at the figures and then tell me who tried to buy the election!

The Romney campaign lost due to managerial incompetence at every level of its operation, and, in the process managed to spend $6.35 per vote, compared to $1.83 by the Obama campaign. The one thing that we do know from this election is that the states cannot be trusted to handle Federal elections. From voter suppression attempts through convoluted registrations procedures to cuts in early voting times to eliminating a third of polling locations in urban areas to not providing sufficient voting machine or ballots to not being able to actually count the damn votes, Republican run states have made a complete mess of voting in this nation.

Arizona still has close to half-a-million ballots uncounted because of screw-ups. People were forced to use provisional ballots when they were told their names were not on the voter rolls – even though they had registered.

It’s time to take Federal elections away from the states and turn it over to the feds. We need simplified registration that would provide the voter with a national voter ID card that could be changed whenever the voter moved, we need a standardized early voting period (say two week prior to the election that would include the weekend prior to the election), we need to have polling locations based on population rather then the capriciousness of Republican operatives, we need to do away with “poll watchers” who gum up the voting process. We need consistent hours across the nation for all polling locations (both early and day-of). We need to have federal elections held on the first Saturday and Sunday of November. We need to do away with all of the Republican controlled state mandated nonsense that led to the disasters of 8 and 9 hours lines for voting. We need to impose a fine for not voting.

We need to understand that voting is indeed the right of every American citizen and that anything that makes that process easier for every American is a good thing.

Sort of beating a dead horse, don't you think? Maybe its because you can't find anything wonderful to say your heart throbs handling of the economy.

Your good news story for today. Stryker Corp, a medical device manufacturing company with 8.3 billion in annual sales announced it will be closing its NY facility, putting 96 people out of work. It is also eliminating 1170 positions worldwide. They are doing this in anticipation of the new medical device tax that is part of obamaca.

In the past they have given millions to obama PACs and directly to the obama campaign. Looks like they are coming to their senses.

Tell us again how ovomit is turning thing around.

I've heard a whole gambit of lame excuses from the right as to why Romney lost the election. But the best lame excuse came out of the mouth of Grover Norquist, you know, that self-appointed anti-tax guy who made all Republican politicians sign a pledge that they would never, never, never vote to raise taxes. He said, and I quote, "Romney lost the election because the Democrats made him out to be a poopy-head." That's right, he said Romney was a "poopy-head." Obviously, that is how Grover sees Romney, because I never once heard any Democrat call Romney a "poopy-head." Dishonest, untruthful, flip-flopper, those are the words used by the Democrats to describe Romney, but never poopy-head. But hey, if the shoe fits.....

A minor point, but king Henry VIII outlawed the Catholic Church in England because they wouldn't allow him to divorce his wife. It was his Church of England (Anglican - Episcopalian) which caused the Pilgrims and Puritans to come to the colonies to create a more pure church.

It was this hard-nosed fundamentalism and intolerance of the New England Puritans which caused the more progressive founders to enact the 1st Amendment to our Constitution which prohibits a state religion.

So his affair is kept secret until after election day. He resigns, and the ovomit administration thinks that since he resigned as head of the CIA he will not have to testify in front of a Congressional Commitee on what he knows about the Benghazi attack.

LoL. He will testify when forced to do so. Ovomits big concern now is that the General will not be willing toie to protect him.

I will try this again, although my comments don't get posted.

Who are you to tell me what I should believe in? Who are you to say that my child must pray to your version of God? In the Bible it is written that God gives us the right to choose. Yet there are many that would deny me and others that right. I've made my choice. Its not your business to say if I'm right or wrong. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone". And to those of you that repeat the horrible stories of the President that you've read on the Internet, if you haven't seen it yourself its hearsay. One of the ten commandments is how we shouldn't bear false witness against our neighbors. Please explain to me how God will punish those that commit what you call "evil" deeds, but won't punish you for the horrible things you've said about others.
