Kingman Letter: Let's follow this path

There is something seriously wrong in our country! We have strayed so far from our origins that it's going to take a very strong, smart president to lead us back.

I'm talking about a real leader who will cut through all of the B.S. and self-serving crap we are getting out of Washington, D.C., and pull us back together as a whole. Obama has shown over the last four years that he doesn't have the skills to do this, and Mitt Romney wasn't the guy either. Our Congress is full of self-serving fools and the media are now making news instead of reporting it. There are no more real investigative reporters, digging up and reporting the truth; they all want to put a spin on it. I don't care what party you belong to, does anyone think we are on the right path? So what do we need to do?

First - Congress works for us. Cut their pay, benefits and time off, eliminate pork barrel spending and add-ons to bills that have nothing to do with the original bill. Every member of Congress must vote on all bills. We need to get serious with Congress!

Second - Cut the federal spending and start moving programs back to the states. Congress can establish the standards that must be met, but leave the means to the states. This includes Social Security, welfare, health care, etc.

Third - Tax all imports and reduce fees for U.S. companies that produce in the U.S. to bring jobs back to the U.S. Don't let the imports have an unfair advantage.

Fourth - Secure our borders, then come up with a plan to register everyone in this country. They don't need to become citizens, just get them registered, then we can work on a fair and humane disposition. I've had enough of this divisive, do-nothing, self-serving federal government!

"I do remember being surprised that while recouping on the Repose the Navy had real butter on board!"

That's because butter could be frozen and kept fresh just fine. Milk on the other hand lost much of it's appeal after freezing and became somewhat grainy and separated. Almost as bad as the powdered milk (we didn't have the filled stuff aboard...but I've had it before). Most people switched to bug juice after we ran out of fresh milk. After a month or 2 no one minded doing an unrep in rough seas if it meant some fresh food. Thank god for those supply ships.

An old cook told me the reason the Navy (and maybe other services) always used whole milk and real butter (before the healthy food trends) was that the Dairy lobby got it put in as a requirement on some defense appropriations bill.

There it is again....."Try $16 T in debt, 6 of it from obama alone. And now, we know, obama has put us in worse debt than every former POTUS put together. From GW thru Bush, all their debt together is less than obama's debt the last four years."

So...basic math tells me 16-6=10 and 10>6.

"Taxing the rich is NOT the answer but could hurt them in the job creating area. And that hurts the rest of us. "

The Bush tax breaks is what you are referring to, and they have been around for about 10 years now. So tell me Linda, just where are the jobs they were supposed to create? Nowhere.

"Try $16 T in debt, 6 of it from obama alone. And now, we know, obama has put us in worse debt than every former POTUS put together. From GW thru Bush, all their debt together is less than obama's debt the last four years."

Your math skills are kind of off here. 16T minus 6T euqals 10T. Now where I come from 6T is NOT more than 10T.

Eliminating the debt is easy, legalize Pot. That way you can tax the heck out of it, say 25-30%. Additionally there would be enough people stoned to the point that they would except anything that the left and right sling out there.

"Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales increase by 12% this year."

What? Even at Walmart? But...but...but...You leftists were going to teach them a lesson through massive protests on Black Friday. LOL.

"Unemployment rate at 7.9 percent."

Yep, still higher than when he took office

"Millions of people have power and water restored in areas hit by Hurrican Sandy."

Which ovomit had nothing to do with. And it still took too long.

"COSTCO continues to treat employees with respect while paying excellent wages.

A company called Hobby Lobby with 418 stores has a starting hourly wage much higher than COSTCO does and they provide health insurance. And their employees do not work on Sunday. But they do not get much press because they are a private company owned by Christians who are suing the govt. because they do not wish to be forced to pay for things like the morning after pill. being on obama's **** list means they are on the medias **** list as well.

Hey, did you see the great photos of V.P.Joe "Plugs" Biden at COSTCO.......with a Black woman pushing his cart for him? Now imagine how that would gone over with the press and leftists if he was a Republican.

LOL

Randi:

You cannot seem to understand, we could tax every rich person in America to the max and it would run our government for EIGHT DAYS!!!

Taxing the rich is NOT the answer but could hurt them in the job creating area. And that hurts the rest of us.

The rich don't have enough money to come close to helping us out of debt and most of the wealth in America now is in the hands of the left wing so it's your side you want to tax.

As Maggie Thatcher said, the problem with taxing the rich is you soon run out of rich people.

What a simplistic answer to the real problem. Too much spending, too much spending, too much spending. Spending money we do NOT have - borrowed money. No matter how much you tax the rich, if obama's unbelievable spending does not stop, we are doomed. As it is it is unsustainable now.

Do you have any clue how much a trillion dollars even is? Try $16 T in debt, 6 of it from obama alone. And now, we know, obama has put us in worse debt than every former POTUS put together. From GW thru Bush, all their debt together is less than obama's debt the last four years.

“And after 2 weeks or so our eggs were always powdered....another yuck.”

Gotta go along with that – UGH! And did you ever that crap called “filled milk” that was a concoction of coconut oil? The only way to stomach it was ice cold (good luck with that) and still it left a nasty film in your mouth.

I do remember being surprised that while recouping on the Repose the Navy had real butter on board! What a treat that was.

Lol at "SOS, eggs,....it always tasted great."

Lord I hate SOS...even when we had no hot food for a week (yes...it happened in the Navy as well). And after 2 weeks or so our eggs were always powdered....another yuck.

Why they never gave them a recipe for sausage gravy and bisquits (or even toast)...I'll never know. They had grits...why not that?

Very true about the SOS, could of been made with whatever but always tasted good. Isn't it amazing that most of the people who talk of reducing military spending and benefits have never served in such.

“anson, should i follow your footsteps and work in the motor pool or cook food in the military?’

It’s odd how easily you denigrate people whose jobs are vital to the operation of our military. Of course having never served you would not understand that each person’s position is vital to the overall mission. I never worked in the motor pool, nor did I cook food – however my team and I were always glad to have access to a working vehicle when we needed one and believe me after two or three weeks of living in the bush on C Rations there was nothing so wonderful as returning to base where the cooks were waiting to fix some great SOS, eggs, toast, coffee – it didn’t actually matter what it was, it always tasted great.

As of 12-3-12 when Speaker of the House submitted his request for the President to consider, which was quickly shelved, here's why:

Republicans get:
The tax rates they want.
The Medicare cuts they want.
The Social Security cuts they want.
The $1 Trillion in spending cuts Obama already agreed to.
Hundreds of billions of dollars in "additional cuts"
Ending the payroll tax break
Ending extended Jobless aid
The opportunity to create a new debt ceiling crisis in a few months.

The Democrats get:
A promise to end undefined tax deductions and loopholes at some point in 2013.

Thank you Rachel Maddow Blog.

I love President Obama smacking this down immediately and this liberal Democrat also says no way, take us to the end of the cliff, tax cuts for the wealthy have to end.

From your parroting of the name Koch brothers, I will just assume you are a liberal. Would you be willing to have that rule apply to teachers unions, Teamsters, leftists like George Soros, and especially government employee unions as well?

Speaking of saving money and unions, a good start would be to ban government employee having unions. Hey, even the leftist hero, FDR, did not approve of them.

@ Paul De Nubilo
1) Cut their pay, benefits and time off, eliminate pork barrel spending-I totally agree, they should not be getting the outrageous pay and benefits, especially when they are doing “Nothing”. They also should not be able to vote for their own pay increases, let the President do that, maybe something would get done then. Lifetime benefits need to go away period. I also think it should be illegal for people like the Koch Brothers to be of any influence to our government or the budget processes.

2) Cut the federal spending and start moving programs back to the states. - I somewhat agree. However I think Social Security needs to stay as it is but for it and the other programs there needs to be better screening processes.

3) Tax all imports and reduce fees for U.S. companies that produce in the U.S. to bring jobs back to the U.S. Don't let the imports have an unfair advantage. Great idea, however, in order for companies to bring jobs back to the U.S. we need to make it painful and not cost effective to keep the jobs overseas. I mean “HUGH” tax hikes on products coming in.

4) Secure our borders, and then come up with a plan to register everyone in this country. You would think this would be easy. However, like the VA disability program, the DHS system is broke, has been broke for a long time, and will continue to be broke far into the future! It’s absolutely ridiculous that a VET has to go on a television program or call the news networks in order to get enough attention to get things moving. But hey, if it works, so be it. I think every VET should be doing it.

More scary stuff:

The TN Governor's office now has a Sharia Financier in it's midst thanks to the Republican Governor Haslam who appointed her.

Samar Ali was appointed international director or the TN Dept of Economic and Community Development (ECD). Attempts to connect her to stealth jihad have been ridiculed but it's all there and all scary.

She has troubling relationships, especially when it comes to Sharia-compliant finance SCF).

In a nutshell, a portion of the funds gains go into money laundering operations used to underwrite international terrorism.,

The White House press release also noted that Ali is “a founding member of the first U.S. Delegation to the World Islamic Economic Forum” (WIEF). The Shariah Finance Watch blog noted, “[I]t was at the World Islamic Economic Forum where key leaders declared Shariah finance to be ‘dawa’ (missionary) activity to promote Islam and Shariah.”

So we have Ms. Ali in this position and Hillary Clinton's top aide whose family has deep connections with the Muslim Brotherhood.

We have indeed lost our minds in America. I knew it was bad a few years ago when I realized other countries were sending missionaries HERE to try to "save" us instead of the other way around.
