Letter: Ultimately, it's all our fault

Government shutdown again, and it is once again election time, but the campaign never stops. If the Senate and the House can't pass a bill that Obama likes, the bill simply will not pass.

With a yearly deficit of $650 billion, the U.S. government has enough clout left, and reserves to run the country for about three months.

If they say this then they would lose the fear factor, and where is the fun in that? Military, SSN, all entitlements will roll out as regular with fear attached.

Cutting spending makes no sense to the average American, because they do not have the ability to print money. The Right and Left engaged in these tactics almost monthly now for over four years.

Arizonans' poverty level for two set by the federal government is $15,510. If one or both in a household combined make more than this, you will not get medical access, or food stamps, and unless you were injured at work you will not get SSN disability. If you served in the military and have an injury from that, you may get something - if you're not one of thousands on a backlist.

Things are just as tough today as they were in 1929, and although entitlements may help, they were never intended to be a way of life. SSN was intended to help but not be the total end game in retirement. We can only blame ourselves and our politicians for this.

Some would say this president or this Senate or this Congress is to blame. I would say, "We the people" are at fault for not voting the bums out, and for not taking an active roll in our own welfare when it comes to schools, jobs, infrastructures or wars, regardless of a lopsided two-party political party system. Only the dead accept the phony scandals idea. They have nothing left to lose.

"DOES NOT PROHIBIT DOCTORS ASKING THEIR PATIENTS ABOUT GUNS IN THEIR HOMES."

Is not the same as "requires doctors to ask their patients....".

If a person is being treated for or exhibiting signs of mental illness, wouldn't that question be a normal part of their treatment?

Sigh...what's the use? If it doesn't come from a loon talking head, it isn't believed.

CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network) 1/17/13

WASHINGTON - ...obama......signed 23 executive orders today, Tuesday that DON'T REQUIRE CONGRESSIONAL APPROVAL.

This is 23 Executive Orders in one day on gun control. Here are some of them. DISPROVE THIS!!

2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.

4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.

6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.

7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.

8. Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).

11. Nominate an ATF director.

13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.

14. Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.

16. CLARIFY THAT THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT DOES NOT PROHIBIT DOCTORS ASKING THEIR PATIENTS ABOUT GUNS IN THEIR HOMES. (Gotta love this one!)

Yes, emails. The earlier post was false. Just admit that it is a word for word copy of a chain email.

I did notice you refused to say how many EO's Obama has signed. That makes me...

LOL

(delete) you need to check your facts before posting. Anyone can check executive order comparisons online, the info you posted is incorrect. Also, check to see how many times Congress raised the debt limit under Bush. And while you're at it, check to see under which presidents we've had a balanced budget.

THIRD ATTEMPT TO POST THE FACTS

(delete)

Once again I cannot over-emphasize the importance of doing your own research instead of relying on the likes of FAUX News, hacked out drug addicts on the radio or spurious right wing e-mail dumps.

“The Obama Administration has signed 923 in 40 mos, Bush 62, all others, less than 10.”

Totally incorrect and without substance. The Federal Register indicates the following numbers of EO’s signed by presidents –
Obama, 162 (to date), The Criminal, 290, President Clinton, 363, The Criminals Daddy, 165, Ronald the Dim, 380, etc.

As to the EO numbers you provided it should be pointed out that Eos run consecutively and Obama’s begin at 13489. The numbers you posted 10990 thru 11005 were actually issued by JFK and do not address a single item as you stated.

Too funny! Still using that proven false email with bogus numbers?? Why not actually check the facts yourself? Or would you just claim it was scrubbed from the Internet?

Your "facts" are totally wrong.

It is election time? I must not have gotten that memo. I have perhaps wasted my time commenting, with company like the "Executive Order 666666" in the comments section, it is clear that the overseers have fallen asleep at the switch, and that any inane statement will be accepted, regardless of content, or construction. Anything I say will be lost in the crowd of absurdities anyway......I am almost tempted to write a lengthy soliloquy, one in which I cuss and rant about "those" people, but that wouldn't be very original...least not roun' these parts, pard.

The first thing that must happen is for the Republican party to throw off the yoke of the oppressor tea party and stand on their own feet. The republicans have become indentured servants to the tea party. I still believe that there are republicans out there who can think for themselves and understand what this Country is all about. Stand up for yourselves! Let these tea partiers go play in their own sand box! Vote them out! They are destroying the Republican brand!

"I always thought advocating an armed overthrow of the federal government was treason. Apparently, the Tea Party goons call it patriotism."

Trampling on and defying the Constitution is treason which is what many of our elected representatives, (president included), are doing.

The Declaration of Independance advocates the over throw of an oppressive government. The state militias mentioned in the Second Amendment of the Constitution were put in place for the same purpose.

You have got to step away from the chain Emails. That one was debunked a long time ago. Do your research. Bush the younger signed 291, and he was low in total. Obama has not hit 200 yet.

Plus, the ones you have listed were signed by JFK. (delete)

I don't think most people realize that many of our elected officials are not really idiots or morons. Some are quite well educated.
That said, then why are they doing so much stupid stuff?
Easy. The people we elected (hired) to represent our interests have lost touch with the very people who gave them the job.
Most Legislators make more money in a month than the average taxpayer does in a year. Most are millionaires. And...as the latest shut-down demonstrates, have no idea what their actions are doing to us. "We the People"
need to exile the poorly performing employees and take back the control of this Country. Stop overpaying some "out-of-touch" talking head to do our bidding. Politics is a "part-time" job, not a career.

When this bunch of bums are gone another bunch of bums will move in and be bought out..

I used to think our Republic (not democracy) could easily weather someone like our current pResident in the WH but I'm not so sure anymore. The problem, while true it's the liberal pols and RINO's, is also an electorate who made it possible for them to be elected in the first place.

Heck maybe we do need to be knocked down hard as a country so we can get up again and fight for the rights so many before us died for. Once liberalism and the resulting socialism mentality is stomped out like it should be it will take them another few generations to return. Human nature tells us the snake oil salesman, otherwise known as liberals, progressives, Marxists, communists, etc, will always convince the weak-minded among us by giving them free stuff paid for by the tax payers so we must always stay on guard against this country wide debilitating infestation like we see today and quite vocally on this very board. Keep your powder dry folks although most of us hope it won't be needed.

I don't vote for, and don't write to, representatives who pass major legislation without reading it, and who did not play an effective role in blocking major wars based upon packs of lies. There are other major grievances, such as (the Democrats) ordering banks to write utterly indefensible home loans, which along with other major crimes, placed us in the present mess. I suppose somebody has to vote and/or write their congress critter, but in my older age now, I conserve my efforts to what actually has a tinker's chance in hell of accomplishing something.

Just watched Reid and Pelosi after the infamous meeting. If their noses grew for every lie, they would be prostrate on their faces.

I VM ed Pelosi and begged her to stop waving her hand around. It is starting to make me crazy, like she's the queen waving her scepter over us, the lowly peasants. Either learn sign language or put your damned hand in your pocket I told her.

Reid said how dare Boehner pick and choose what can be funded. Huh??

Pick and choose is EXACTLY what Obama did. He picked and chose who would be exempted from Obamacare and to hell with the rest. Liberals and their double standards are stunning. AFTER Ocare passing, Obama made 19 changes to it. It was never re-voted on, isn't even the original bill.

Then Obama guaranteed it wasn't a tax, Roberts said yes, it's a tax and therefore constitutional. Calling it a tax, it would never have been voted in.

What a mess - today, announced 30 million will still be uninsured, more than we started with and only 7 million can go on the exchanges.

So it has destroyed everyone else's insurance, put us under the Feds and more will be uninsured than when the started. Only a liberal could dream this up. 196wc

For all those who treasure the import of the first three words of our Constitution, there is good news at hand. WE THE PEOPLE are finally coming into our own. For century after century we labored under the yoke of wealth and oppression, but all we needed was a voice. And today, for the first time in our history, we have a voice. It is spread loud and far and wide and deep. It is the Internet. A temporary impotent potentiate in an unimportant country in Africa threatens his people and before the hour is out, it's trending on Twitter, friending on Facebook, featured in a thousand blog, and making the online daily news in hundreds of languages around the world.

With this new voice, we are already bending corporations to the public good, rooting out corruption and greed where it's found, and shaping society to our needs, rather than to a politicians desires. We have the voice. Now we need something to say. I'm happy to see some liberal, progressive and rational voices on the Miner.

I agree with you (delete). But the problem is you can't vote the bums out because of gerrymandering. In the last election only 30 percent of the seats actually had any real competition. The way that voting districts are drawn up by both parties is always going to favor who ever is in power at the time. Voting districts should be made up of a cross section of Americans rather than the way some politician wants to draw them so they can gain power. Until we change this nothing is going to change. Also the moron that thinks liberals don't have guns has a giant surprise waiting for him. Just because we think Govt. should work for the people instead of the giant Corp. doesn't mean we won't defend ourselves.

It is ultimately the fault of anyone who elects a person to Congress who runs for office on a platform of hatred of the Federal Government and on the promise of shutting it down. The Tea Party Republicans are doing exactly what they promised to do. Shrink government down so they can drown it in the bathtub. Thanks Grover Norquist.

Why should anyone be surprised when they do what they promised. If you want a functional government that does the will of the people, its pretty simple. Do not elect these anti-government Tea Party anarchists to federal office.
