Kingman Aid to Abused People has received a $5,000 donation from Cesar's Foundation/Harrah's Laughlin.

Although KAAP is located in Kingman, 38 miles from Harrah's Laughlin location, during the 28 years of service KAAP has provided several Harrah's employees with emergency shelter and supportive services in their effort to leave a home of violence.

Harrah's also has been a wonderful employment resource for KAAP clients as they move from victimization to self-sufficiency.

KAAP is mounting a fundraising drive to make up for a 60 percent loss of funding from the state Department of Economic Security.

Sponsors are being asked to help maintain the nonprofit's domestic violence prevention, intervention and education programs.

Kingman Regional Medical Center set the pace for this one-year pledge with the first $5,000 check, and the goal is five sponsors totaling $25,000.

For more information on how to become a corporate sponsor, contact Suzanne Clarke at (928) 753-6222.
