Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator Rachel Head
The Central Arizona Association of Diabetes Educators, a local chapter of the American Association of Diabetes Educators, recently elected its new slate of officers for 2013. Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator Rachel Head, who serves as KRMC's Diabetes Program Coordinator, was elected to serve as liaison to the Arizona Diabetes Coalition.
The Arizona Diabetes Coalition is one arm of the Arizona Department of Health Services and is comprised of various diabetes stakeholders throughout the state. The purpose of the coalition is to reduce the burden of diabetes on individuals, families, communities, the health care system, and Arizona.
This is done by increasing awareness of diabetes, advocating for and promoting policies and programs that improve access to care, treatment, and outcomes for people with diabetes and those at risk for developing diabetes.
Head has been a member of the Arizona Diabetes Coalition since joining KRMC in 2010, and already serves on the Leadership Council and Diabetes Self Management Training Work Group. In this new role, Head will help coordinate efforts between both organizations.
Head has been conducting diabetes education for five years. She has been in charge of KRMC's Outpatient Diabetes Program for the past two years. For more information on the program, please call 928-692-4607.
