KRMC offers $55 mammograms in May

KINGMAN - Kingman Regional Medical Center is offering a substantial discount on 3D screening mammograms during May for women who qualify, in honor of Mother's Day.

In order to qualify for the discounted mammograms, women must meet the follow criteria:

• Be age 40 or over;

• Have no health insurance or a high-deductible insurance;

• Have not had a mammogram in the previous 12 months.

At KRMC, mammograms are provided in a private women's wing at the KRMC Imaging Center using advanced technology called 3D Breast Tomosynthesis or 3D mammography. KRMC is currently the only provider of this form of mammography in rural Arizona. It gives doctors a three-dimensional view of multiple layers of breast tissue, which enables them to see details in a way never before possible. It also helps rule out non-cancers that may look suspicious in a conventional mammogram.

The discounted mammograms can be scheduled directly with the KRMC Imaging Center by calling (928) 692-2727. However, women with a history of cancer or a specific symptom, such as pain or a lump, should first schedule an appointment with their primary care provider. KRMC is also offering gift certificates for the discounted mammograms, which are available at the KRMC Imaging Center (1033 Sycamore Ave. in Kingman) for those who would like to give a special gift for Mother's Day. Gift certificates will be honored through June.

KRMC will also offer discounted mammograms in October during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The discounts are made possible through KRMC's "Catch It Early" program, which is sustained through donations, and grants.

For more information or to make a donation, contact Teri Williams at (928) 681-5061.

What this article fails to tell you is that you have to call someone else (who isn't available) first before they will even talk to you. This of course, after you are on hold for a good length of time with scheduling.
