Fighting for Mating Rights

Butch Meriwether
Butch's Brew

Three bighorn sheep munch on vegetation along the Colorado River as two rams appear to be checking each other out as part of jousting for the rights to mate with the yews. The weather is getting warmer, and many people will be venturing out on their boats and watercraft and traveling up and down the river between Lake Mohave and Hoover Dam. Everyone needs to keep a good eye on the hills along the river, and they might catch a glimpse of bighorn sheep coming down to the river to get a drink of water. A little later this year, bighorn males, called rams that are famous for their large-curled horns, will begin their epic battles throughout the Black Mountains and along the Colorado River fighting for dominance or mating rights.

Throwing Up – First off you’re assuming that I just took the flick the other day. Well that was your first mistake. Just for your edification, the picture of the rams was taken during last year’s Bighorn Sheep Workshop when we ventured up the Colorado River on Game and Fish boats. So I think it is a bit presumptuous for you to slam me for not knowing something when you, yourself must realize what ASSUME means. If you don’t understand what ASSUME means, then please email me at and I’ll explain it to you. Otherwise, please hesitate before you next time open your mouth and insert your foot. Sorry if that hurts your feelings. And besides that, the picture was provided to the KDM a while back and I have no control when they run a flick or story.

You need to get with Don it's obvious you have no idea about the mating times. It's spring everyone should be having their babies right now, not fornicating.
