Students from the Kingman Academy of Learning Intermediate School joined Kingman Police officers and detectives on the first leg of their torch run for Special Olympics Monday morning. The path circled Centennial Park before heading down Fairgrounds Boulevard to Lewis Kingman Park, then down Andy Devine Avenue before ending at the Powerhouse Visitor's Center. The "Flame of Hope" torch was then handed over to the Arizona Department of Public Safety which continued on to Lake Havasu City. The "Flame of Hope" will continue through the state and end its journey Friday in Mesa at the site of the 2012 Special Olympics Arizona Summer Games. I would like to thank the law enforcement officers for all they do for our community.
