6/7/2013 6:00:00 AM Doctor delves into medical advances
KINGMAN - Dr. Chris Porter will be speaking at Kingman Regional Medical Center's monthly Lunch & Learn on June 19. His topic will be "Interventional Radiology: Advances in Minimally Invasive Procedures."
As an interventional radiologist, Dr. Porter uses medical imaging technologies to guide miniscule instruments to examine or treat areas inside the body.
Interventional radiology procedures often replace open surgical procedures to clear arteries or check for diseases, and specialists can perform a range of other minimally invasive operations on the body.
Porter attended medical school at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver and did his residency in radiology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
He comes to Kingman from Charlottesville, Va., where he recently completed fellowship training in vascular/interventional radiology at the University of Virginia.
Lunch & Learn features a different medical professional each month, focusing on important healthcare topics. The seminars are free and held in the Del E. Webb Wellness Center Conference Rooms from noon to 1 p.m. Participants bring their own lunches and KRMC provides beverages and dessert.
There is no charge for the program, but seating is limited. The doors will open at 11:30 a.m. the day of the event. To ensure enough seating and desserts, contact KRMC Public Relations at (928) 681-8514 to make a reservation.
