Kingman Photo: Cerbat Elementary School Reading Fair

Cerbat Elementary School held its first Reading Fair on Dec. 6. All students created a project based on a story that they had read independently or in class. Some classes, like kindergarten and first grade, did class projects where all of the kids helped do a project together. In second grade, students did small group dioramas, while the third grade students all did their book reports independently and on science fair style display boards. The fourth grade students all created Bottle Buddy projects where they recreated a character from a book using a plastic bottle as the base for the body. They also had to write a book report based on the book they read. The fifth grade students worked in computer class to redesign book covers on books they had read. Once they had redesigned the book spines, the front and back covers and wrote a synopsis of the book, they had to put it all together to look an actual new book cover. Along with the Reading Fair, the school had family night for our Secret Santa Shop, held a used book sale and a book exchange and had two rooms with fun holiday-themed activities that the students could make and take home with them.
