Father, son win tourney

The father/son team of Dave Hilton III and Dave Hilton II put together a strong second-day bag of bass to win the Kingman Bass Club's two-day team tournament at Martinez Lake on the lower Colorado River.

The Hiltons were in second place after Day 1 with a bag of five bass that weighed 13.55 pounds. They trailed Micah Jones and his father, Jimmy, who checked in a limit that weighed 15.23 pounds.

But on Day 2, the Jones team faltered just a little, bringing in another limit that weighed 9.44 pounds. Their two-day weight was 24.67 pounds.

The Hiltons, however, put together a good Day 2 bag of five bass that weighed 15 pounds for a total of 28.55 pounds. Their big fish of the tournament weighed 4.13 pounds.

Third place was taken by the team of Greg Parker and Art Fuller, who had a two-day bag that weighed 22.43 pounds.

Parker/Fuller brought in the largest fish of the tournament, a lunker that weighed 4.67 pounds.

Ten teams participated in the tournament, which was the club's first two-day tournament of the year.

The club's next tournament is on March 27 at Temple Bar on Lake Mead.

The pre-fish meeting will take place at 7 p.m. March 20 at the Region III office of the Arizona Game and Fish Department.
