Kingman Area School Retirees' Association: KASRA now officially has officers for 2013-2015! At our Jan. 22 meeting, Mary Anne Vath, president-elect of our state association (AASRA), performed an installation ceremony confirming Paul Tribbitt as president, Marilyn Johnson as vice president, Theresa Grumbles as secretary and Sandie Womack as treasurer. Mary Anne asked officers to affirm their commitment to the duties of their new jobs, pointing out that each officer is an essential link to keeping a chain (that is, the organization) strong. Accompanying Ms. Vath was Mary Strebe, District 3B vice president. We welcomed these visitors and thanked them for making the trip to Kingman for the ceremony. Duane Nelson, KASRA legislative representative and state VP for District 5, stood in for president Paul Tribbett, who was called away due to a family illness. Vice-president Johnson led the meeting in Paul's absence. Volunteer hours were collected by Grumbles, and the total will be forwarded to our state organization and announced at a future meeting. Member Tommie Upton predicted she would win the drawing for a hand-thrown piece of pottery - and she did! A pitcher and saucer were donated by Duane Nelson, whose nephew made the piece. All proceeds go toward our annual mini-grant award given to a Kingman Unified School District teacher each fall. Our next meeting will be on March 26 at the Elks Lodge.
