American Legion Post 14: Wednesday nights in March will find us at Porky's Pit BBQ (Bond and Butler) for fundraising on biker nights. Absolutely everyone in the community is invited to come out and have fun; we'll have different raffle items each week. Funds raised will go toward programs for children/youth and veterans. To keep Legion family members informed about what's going on at your Post, we're trying to transition to more frequent communication via electrons. If you've provided your e-mail to receive the newsletter and calendar updates, please make sure what we send isn't going into your "spam" queue. To get on our e-list, send your preferred e-mail address to Nancy at email@example.com, subject line "AL 14 newsletter". We do not give our list to anyone, nor do we use it for anything other than Post communications with our membership. If you'd rather talk to a person, call (928) 753-3555 any day between noon and 6 p.m. and ask "Hey, what's going on this weekend?" Or, you can do it the really old-fashioned way and just stop in. We're on the corner of Third and Oak in downtown Kingman.
Belles of St. Mary's: Already the Belles are making plans for the next session: 2013-2014. Our newly appointed nominating committee has met three times and have divided our membership list equally into three sections. Calls have been made and nominations are almost complete! Two new and dedicated Belles to be commended for their efforts are Pam and Sarah C. Gonna be a great new year. Meanwhile, back at the ranch (parish), we are all mindful of the Lenten season in preparation of the momentous and greatest event of all history: The resurrection of Jesus Christ. If we concentrate on the three major verbs offered as guideposts for the journey - prayers, abstinence and alms giving - we will be in union with all Roman Catholics worldwide. Picture the grandeur of that: millions of people, kneeling in humble adoration and faith, believing and honoring the one great God, three divine persons. Know it and believe it and live it. So we American Catholics can say: Red, White, Blue and True...to our God.
