Several area official and community groups got together to put on the annual Code 3-Clothe the Kids charity event on Saturday morning, Dec. 13, 2008. The Kingman Powerhouse Kiwanis, Kingman Fire and Police Departments, DPS, Mohave County Sheriff's Office, Elks BPOE 468, Route 66 Riders and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) have raised funds all year to allow children in need to get clothes during this event in December. About 700 children were helped this year. Wal-Mart and Big K-Mart participated in the program. Santa arrived by AirEvac helicopter and was escorted to the stores by KFD's Pumper the Clown, school buses filled with kids, and a parade of official vehicles with sirens roaring. Once at Wal-Mart or K-Mart, children were accompanied by a volunteer who helped them purchase clothes. Photos by Miner photographer JC Amberlyn.
