Reader Letter: There's no reaching some people

To paraphrase James Lileks in "National Review," week of Nov. 12, regarding the debates and the election - of course class warfare works.

Half the country apparently believes national greatness is defined by the number of people who get signed up for food stamps while having an abortion on a light-rail train. To them, Obama is totally awesome because he has organized a bucket brigade from the Free Money Geyser that makes sure teachers have free phones and birth control. And hair weaves!

Some excitable citizens heard rumors Mitt Romney wanted to ban hair weaves, because of China or something, and he wanted to ban the dollar menu at McDonald's. It fits the mindset of the mindless. Decades of accumulated interaction with the welfare state has taught them that government's power is absolute and arbitrary, so naturally the president (Romney) could order crew cuts with a stroke of the autopen.

If you think that Romney threatens your hair or your hamburger, nothing in the debates will help. No election will change your mind. No recovery that follows from an application of fiscal restraint will penetrate your adamantine brainpan.

These are the people who scoff at Romney's desire to put people back to work. Work? For what? The same stuff we get now for free? What kind of deal is that?

That pretty much sums it up, doesn't it?

D.B. Mitchell

I love how everyone here wants to simply represent the red or the blue. The election is over. The discussion is over. As long as politicians, as well as yourselves, want to keep to your separatist strongholds, things will never be right.

We know there are good people at the welfare office as well as parasites. As soon as drug testing becomes "constitutional," this discussion will minimize. Not disappear, but minimize.

Guns, abortion, etc. Nothing will change. Leftists and rights alike feel independently on these issues, too many to force pure change.

You all want facts from each other. Here are mine:

Fact 1 - Anon anon, nice chuckle, frank lee, anson, Lori hyphenated, and the likes........ NO ONE CARES! You're no better than anyone else here, no one owes you any explaination or fact! You want the job? Apply for editor.

Fact 2 - As long as everyone wants to swear by their color and avoid the middle, we all lose. Everyone knows: the rich need to pay their share, education needs/deserves more money, welfare needs to be restructured and monitored rather than expanded, immigration needs to be reformed, illegal immigration needs to be stopped, racism is far too alive, demos are changing, etc. The left only feels proper because they've won.

Keep standing on the tip of your right/left wing, eventually you'll tip the whole bird........ And all of us with it.

So you're saying that Romney didn't "court the Latinos", (ie., offer more "stuff" than did Obama), and that cost him their vote? You just made my point...thanks!

I've never even heard of welfare in Arizona. All I have ever heard of has been unemployment, Social Security, and food stamps. Where is the Arizona Department of Welfare?

Didn't want to test those free cell phone links - so many scams start out that way, but wondered if that is real. Last cell phone I had was in the last century. They weren't perfect back then, but way beyond annoying, if someone wants me to have a cell phone, a million buck a day isn't enough. Cell towers messing up the scenery are not bad enough now they want to increase use by making it free?

@nice chuckle

Point out where I said it was a new program.....Bet you can't. So now they have expanded it to include ALL parasites. I said non-parasites were paying for it. Where was I wrong? Are you simply trying to cloud the issue. Worthless welfare parasites get free phone service. End of story

"The money for this program comes from a charge that non-parasites pay which is added to their cell phone bill."

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that fee was and has been charged long before the government issued cell phones came into play. It is part of the Lifeline/Link up fee that has been charged for years to help sway the cost of phone services for the disabled, seniors, and hard to reach areas.

@ Joe Schmo

You said it all. I am an Independent, I could of went either way, however, when Myth began flipping on everything he believed in and started to agree with Obama, there was only one choice. Like yourself, I'm doing fine, I don't work, and those years are far behind me. I live on my Pensions. The fact that some of these Replicators, Repolicans, Reflippercans, and Republicans only see in black and white, and think that everyone in the welfare line is a crackhead, methhead, alcoholic, and flea infested peasant is out to steal their money is simple-minded. I would bet a years’ worth of pension checks to anyone of these knuckleheads that there are people at that welfare office that are decent, church going, hardworking people that are needing a little help because of the “Right to Work” law that we have doesn’t let them make enough money to live. If and when they do, they get cut from the program, even if they make a dollar above the cutoff. They also think the Mexican is going to invade. “NEWS FLASH”, immigrants started this country and are still coming, the fact that the Immigration System is broke is not their fault, and it’s ours. By the way, my family immigrated, and my wife is an immigrant, we dealt with the broken system, paid the fees required several times because the system is broke. Now Puerto Rico is thinking about joining the States as number 51, what are you going to do them, label them the same? I suggest you follow your GOP and bury your head s in the sand as they did the last four years.

"Then they could quit repeating lies about free cell phones from the government"

Here is a link to info on the AZ program where local parasites can get a free cell phone and 250 minutes a month.

link to info:

http://www.freegovernmentcellphones.net/states/arizona-government-cell-phone-providers

link to the program service provider, Safelink Wireless:

http://www.freegovernmentcellphones.net/free-cell-phone-providers/safelink-wireless

The money for this program comes from a charge that non-parasites pay which is added to their cell phone bill.

To make the whole thing even more disgusting, if a parasite brings in a parasite friend to sign up for they program...... the original parasite is given bonus minutes for their cell phone.

And now the govt. also wants to give parasites internet service for ten bucks a month. The Washington Post article goes on to tell about programs for free computers for parasites:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/fcc-plans-cheap-internet-service-and-computers-to-connect-poor-americans/2011/11/08/gIQArnbp3M_story.html

Still want to claim it's lie?

LOL

"Want proof of people/parasites getting stuff for free? Just go to the local welfare office and look at the people/parasites sitting in the waiting area. They are there for their freebies."

As long as you keep getting your monthly check though, right?

@ The Fox Hound

You forgot to mention the $2.9 Trillion that was reported unaccounted for on Sept 10th of 2001. Everyone forgot about it after the 11th. I have my suspicions but I have no proof. Bush, Cheney, and his folks knows exactly where it went.

The "people wanted free stuff" explanation seems to be a common theme popping up from the right to explain why they lost the election.

Sorry to burst your Faux News-induced bubble but it's not about free stuff. I didn't vote for Obama because I wanted free stuff. I'm doing just fine, thank you. I cast my vote for Obama because by his words and his deeds over the last four years he showed me that he cares about entire country and he did not dismiss 47% of the population as lazy moochers like R-Money did. I also didn't want a plutocrat in charge who apparently thinks you can achieve economic prosperity by cutting taxes for rich people, cutting most social and educational programs and spending more on the military, reducing investments in research, technology, and alternative energy, and by turning Medicare into a voucher program for us future seniors.

Another reason you lost is simple demographics. If you hadn't noticed, the electorate looks different now. As long as the GOP is seen only as the party of white people, wealthy people, and big business, and is viewed being against minorities, gays, the poor and single women they will lose more presidential elections in the future.

You can face reality and deal with it or go back to your Faux News alternate reality bubble and be comforted by the soothing words of Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity. It's your choice.

Then go to any large store. Watch and see who is paying with welfare debit cards........ more parastes getting their free stuff.

I am longing for the day when things are so bad in terms of taxes and escalating prices that parasites are afraid to go shopping with welfare cards. That will be a turning point

Wow David!
Over 95 percent of African-Americans and 75 percent of Latinos voted for Obama. Are you suggesting that these people that are part of his base are nothing but a bunch of fat lazy people who don’t want to go out and get a job and just live off the government? What about the 60 percent of unmarried women that voted for Obama? Are they nothing but a bunch of lazy women who want go out and sleep around and get free birth control?
Romney got 60 percent of the white vote. 24 years ago that would’ve got him 400 electoral college votes. Demographics are changing and as much as the GOP wants it, this is not a White America anymore and if they don’t start courting the Latino vote, the fastest growing voting block, then they will slowly become existent like the Wig Party. If the GOP doesn’t change their ways, Arizona will go solid blue like California, Oregon, Washington. They will lose New. Mexico if they haven’t lost it by now and they will lose Colorado, Florida and even heard that Georgia and Texas could be in play in 2016. The best thing for the GOP to do is kick out the Tea Party, who are best served for some KKK meeting and start to court the changing demographics.

“These are the people who scoff at Romney's desire to put people back to work.”

We scoff when Willard the Money Hider is a proponent of sending American jobs to China – which he is still doing. But since he’s a loser the whole point is moot.

A question – How soon do you think before Willard files an amended tax return to claim ALL of his “charitable” deductions?

Round 27 of the Asylum debate here (since when did they let inmates into the ring?). Meanwhile.....Bennie Bernanke and the Jets - I mean, his Federal Oversight Market Committee (FOMC) - are, figuratively speaking, about to commit some of history's most indecent offences upon your person (that is, your wallet/401k/property) in the form of buying up the nation's mortgages with Monopoly Money. They're about to pour barrels of water into the punch bowl. Experts are talking 100% inflation at least. Needless to say, it didn't matter much whether Tweedledee or Tweedledum got elected. Hitler or Stalin. Mussolini or Emperor Bokassa (unless you had younger school children in this case - Bokassa preferred to eat them). Nothing in the middle here - Romney for the rich, Obama for the often-deservedly poor, and the UNENTITLED criminal invaders. Oh, there are some good points, and a 300-word limit here. So.....it's every man for himself. Precedents, mostly bad, are being set every day now. But don't worry too much. The nation's security apparatus are receiving godsends in the way of new technology designed to turn your irradiated flatulences into database entries and pretexts for policy.

The real problem is that some people actually think that things Donald Trump and Kim Kardasian say are important. If people quit worrying about Britney and Lohan they might be able to use some type of logic to find out what is true or not true. Then they could quit repeating old lies about free cell phones from the government. The people that keep claiming that everyone is getting something "free" really need to step it up with numbers, proof etc. The "reality" you describe does not exist.

Things are just that simple in your bubble. If your not a millionaire you must be a loser. Somebody who wants to live off the rest of us. What about the 20 million people that George Bush put out of work during his rein of terror. What did that cost America in lost blood and treasuer DB? Oh yeah I forgot we had to fight them there so we wouldn't have to fight them here, right. So now if you can't find a job your a loser. Never mind that companies all over America are working people hours a day so they can pay less benifiets and hire less workers. Or they cut workers to less than 30 hours a week so they don't have to pay benifiets at all. Wake up the only one who is paying for all of this is the middle class. Just ask Rush
