Kingman Letter: Take country back from 'godless'

Hear Ye, hear Ye all Christians and atheists, too! It's time for all of us to learn what our founding fathers really believed when it comes to religion and its relationship to this great United States government.

Christians should definitely watch this video tour of the Capitol building. Atheists: If you have the courage to watch this video, you will learn that indeed this country was founded on religious principles, and predominately Christian principles. You will also learn that the founders had no intention of eliminating Christian principles in the everyday operation of this great U.S. government!

It's time for Christians to take back this great country from the godless! Our founding fathers would demand it!

Share this video with everyone you know - it is eye opening! http://stg.do/Iwpc

Did you happen to ignore this phrase?? When a school, that is a function of a govt., refuses to allow the students, (who want to excersise their religious rights), to do so,,,are they not in violation of the Constitution?

You, who wish to eliminate religion from any govt. facility should be so bold when it comes to Islamic worship. Or do you fear for your heads??

"Onward, Christian Soldiers, marching as to war, with the cross of Jesus going on before.
Christ the royal Master, leads against the foe
forward into battle, see his banners go!"

Hey David, and some others, just thought you'd like a theme song to go along with your attempt to "take back the Country" as you put it.

Seems fitting that a 19th century hymn would fit with your archaic way of thinking, although you may be well served to see this country in the 21st century and realize that things have changed and evolved which has historically made our country one of the best to live in on this tiny planet.

Of course some may prefer stagnation, it's easy to live with. However please consider an analogy... a stagnant pond breeds pesky flies and mosquitos and contains a certain amount of scum while a clear flowing river brings freshness, vibrance and abundance to the landscape.

Oops, sorry Doing Research, didn't see your TJ quote there. Here's another one from John Adams that may be a bit more appropriate for the conversation:

"The priesthood have, in all ancient nations, nearly monopolized learning. And ever since the Reformation, when or where has existed a Protestant or dissenting sect who would tolerate A FREE INQUIRY? The blackest billingsgate, the most ungentlemanly insolence, the most yahooish brutality, is patiently endured, countenanced, propagated, and applauded. But touch a solemn truth in collision with a dogma of a sect, though capable of the clearest proof, and you will find you have disturbed a nest, and the hornets will swarm about your eyes and hand, and fly into your face and eyes."

Here we go with this ridiculous statement AGAIN! The founders, while respecting religions, wrote the Constitution for all people! No one with a brain expects to see the word "Christian" in the Constitution, sheeez!

@Linda

And yet you skate around the issue. David Barton himself admitted he lied or out right used made up quotes in his writings. Hence his publishers stopped publishing his books. His own admission. Stop believing the untruth. Sorry, you cannot prove, at all, where the Constitution says this is a Christian nation. Give it up.

How about a little perspective from Thomas Jefferson? You know, the guy who wrote the Declaration of Independence and served as our third president:

"It does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or no God. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg."

- Notes on Virginia, 1782

"Question with boldness even the existence of a god because if there be one he must approve of the homage of reason more than that of blindfolded fear."

- Letter to Peter Carr, August 10, 1787

"Christianity neither is, nor ever was a part of the common law."

- Letter to Dr. Thomas Cooper, February 10, 1814

"Priests...dread the advance of science as witches do the approach of daylight and scowl on the fatal harbinger announcing the subversions of the duperies on which they live."

- Letter to Correa de Serra, April 11, 1820

"And the day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the supreme being as his father in the womb of a virgin will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerve in the brain of Jupiter. But may we hope that the dawn of reason and freedom of thought in these United States will do away with this artificial scaffolding, and restore to us the primitive and genuine doctrines of this most venerated reformer of human errors."

- Letter to John Adams, April 11, 1823

Chuckles:

For pete's sake, why did you not even look at the video the writer posted? The real problem is, it is impossible, telling the truth and using the writings of the Founders to convince anyone we are NOT a Christian nation. Why not give the video a try Chuckles? After all, it is the Christmas season. What would it hurt to just look into it anyway? The reward could be peace and eternal salvation. You could look forward to being with me in heaven. Why pass that up? Hahaha!

I love David Barton because he is one of the most decent human beings with the most knowledge about our Founding I have ever seen.

He is kind and humble, never toots his own horn and if ever he finds he made an error, he is the first to correct it.

Because of his Godliness, he is the very one satan sets out to destroy. Even fellow Christians have attacked him. You never read his writings and compare so you wouldn't know. So much easier to just post some crap off a left wing Christian hating website than seek truth.

Doing Research: A simple one. We do not have a state religion as was the case in England where the state church was crammed down their throat.

Remember, the religion of the Founders, Christianity has many denominations. You're partly right quote was Jefferson speaking to a Baptist Church who was afraid another denomination might be held above them. He was simply explaining that would not be the case. It was a letter written to those Baptists alone and is well known by even those with a modicum of knowledge.

Yes, let's hear more about Founding Father opinion on this....

"Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church & State."

For years I have heard people say George Washington and others in the Founding Era never actually referred to Jesus Christ.

Washington is my favorite and I am descended from both lines of his family, he himself only having adopted children. I have ardently studied him. He was indeed something absolutely special, sent to us by God.

Around the 1920's was when atheists started their attacks on him referring to GW, his initials everyone recognized as meaning Godless and Worldly.

Not many know, besides all the books about him, he himself wrote 100 books so you can certainly read HIS own words.

He referred to God using 54 different Biblical descriptions, Jesus Christ being but one of them. This shows his great concept of who God really was.

There were laws preventing him from letting his slaves go free - slaves he inherited at about 12 or 14 years of age. So he did what he could until his death, actually going broke caring for the slaves he had.

He refused to break families up, left in his will that they not only would be set free at his death but would continue to receive his money for their care, clothing, etc - especially one elderly man whose care he was particularly concerned about.

Yes, this is but ONE of the old white men the liberals so love to put down these days, a man who had more Godly goodness in his little finger then most of us today have in our entire bodies.

For years now we have trampled the gift horse God gave us.

Compare GW with obama who doesn't even attend church, made Bo the Dog the centerpiece of their Christmas decorations this year and last and never even mentioned the birth of Jesus Christ this Christmas.

Well, enough said there. Linda, you love David Barton for some reason. You remember him, the "writer" whose publisher pulled his books because he admitted he made facts and quotes up? Yeah, let's believe anything that joker has to say.

And since we are on this topic, Linda, please, please, please.....show one shred of evidence of where in the Constitution it says we are a Christian Nation?

David:

Wow! Hate to overpost here, something I'm actually quite good at but watched the video and it WAS David Barton and was fantastic.

Different from others I have seen by him. One is America's Godly Heritage and another The Role of Pastors and Christians in Civil Government which you are welcome to watch should you want to do so. The Miner could give you my phone number. Love to share them.

I lived in Texas for years and met David in person and he signed his most famous book for me. He is a joy and shares his hundreds of original documents God has blessed him with with everyone.

The video made me cry. Especially Pocahontas being baptized, the fact 29 of the 56 Founders had seminary degrees, President Garfield? I think it was was a pastor who had just preached and brought dozens to salvation before heading for his job as POTUS, etc.

Jefferson, to many a deist, attended church in the Capitol where services were held for 100 years for at least four different churches but Jefferson had the Marine Band PLAY at the church services. How cool is that?

The first Bibles were proscribed by Congress and Jefferson had Bibles made for the Indians, etc.

The beautiful Capitol paintings, especially the one of Columbus, the devout Christian are so impressive. I noticed the remarks by those on the tour that they had been cheated of our true founding. Amen to that!!

Thank you for sharing. You just made my day. America needs to know the REAL good news of America.

Trained Observer:

The Pilgrims left England because of severe religious persecution and went to Holland for 12 years where they worked like dogs and excelled.

But even there, they felt the children of the Holland people were starting to go astray and would lead their own that way so with that in mind and their very deeply felt belief that they were to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the entire world, they decided, after 12 years in Holland, to go to the new world and start life over and spread the Good News of Jesus to the Indians.

And so they did, at great peril to themselves. Half of them died the first winter.

But they Christianized half the Indians and gave them new life. Indians had no written language, etc and basically lived as savages. They had savage ways and many tribes were wiping other tribes out. Some practiced cannibalism. This is common in all areas of the world where Christianity and all it's good has not yet come there.

Many Indians became devoted Christians such as Squanto of the Wampanag tribe and later God used Squanto greatly.

Anti Christians this century have perpetrated a lie that the Pilgrims wiped out Indians, stoled their land, etc. False - they did pay for land but Indians didn't believe in land ownership in the first place. Christians followed God's leading coming here and basically saved America and the Indians. I have grown weary of the atheistic lies. We HAVE the words of those who came.

I would challenge any atheist to read PLIMOUTH (Plymouth) PLANTATION where they will see the day to day that happened when the Pilgrims came. And THEN, they will know the real truth. I doubt an atheist has the guts to read the truth however, so happy are they living among their falsehoods.

A totally ridiculous statement. Because the founders were a compromising bunch, (unlike the present administration), they knew they had to compose a document that protected all from the power of a central govt.

"No they would not advocate hatred based on religion."

Standing up for one's rights has only become "hatred" since this most recent administration. Sorry but I for one don't subscribe to that theory!

2DPDImpeding the free exercise of religion in America is done every single day in America. .

A teacher thrown out for having a Bible in his desk drawer which he read on his own lunch hour.

He could have read the satanic bible and that would have been fine.

Children thrown off school buses for wearing crosses around their necks. The list of abuses on Christians in America is endless.

No Christianity is allowed in schools but we have made special prayer rooms for muslims to pray in in some schools.

The multiple, multiple millions killed world wide have ALWAYS WITH NO EXCEPTION been done by atheist leaders. There are NO exceptions with that. Atheists Hitler, Stalin, etc. Trying reading the Black Book of Communism to see for yourself.

Atheists have believed a lie.

I noticed the Confederate flag wrap-around on his left arm, he provided no proof/documentation whatsoever for any of his religious claims, and while the pre-Civil War era Christian gatherings at the Capitol and other actions of this nature he discussed were interesting (if true), all of this together did not end slavery, nor prevent the Civil War. You could draw some parallels to modern times, I suppose (and this makes for a longer, more worthy discussion) - Billy Graham and Richard Nixon appearing on stage together during the Vietnam War (decades later, Graham acknowledged some of that war-based-upon-a-pack-of-lies' fraudulent aspects) ), prayers opening Congressional sessions, which are laced throughout with lobbyists' subterfuge...and how much else would fit within a 300-word limit here? As for Thomas Jefferson's missionary interests towards Native Americans, I recommend in the strongest terms Henry B. Schoolcraft's epic tome on this subject (the book was written during Jefferson's term in office over 200 years ago). It's available at the Kingman library. Just excellent observations, and some conclusions which can warm your intellectual curiosity on the one hand, and possibly cause you to wince at some cultural ethno-centrism on the other..... Can we broach some major subjects this way, with the understanding that quick and simplistic strokes of the brush are not enough?

David, I'm going to decline your invitation to watch your video.

It doesn't really matter what your take on the founding fathers view of government and religion. In today's world the most dangerous societies are those ruled by religions.

Modern governments need to protect everyone's right to believe as they choose. It is not the governments business to involve, support, advocate for any religious believe system.

Thank you David. Yes, we were indeed founded by devout Christians and ON the Bible.

I will skip reading the usual atheist replies on here because I know from past experience, they haven't got a clue and even when you give them evidence, they ignore it.

Had they ever actually studied the original intent meaning the ACTUAL WORDS of the Founders, they would have to work hard to explain how we are NOT Christian but they are too lazy to do so.

I will look up your website and if it is not already David Barton's, will add David Barton of Wallbuilders has done massive work on the Christian Founding including videos of our Capitol and other buildings in DC. It is impressive and humbling.

The antiChristian bias has totally permeated our country. I have for years gotten a monthly country decorating magazine, one of the biggest in the nation.

The last few years, I have noticed, where they used to have all things Christmas in their December issue, that decreased until this year, they are featuring a homosexual couple and the Editor in Chief wrote how she hated Christmas and the usual way of celebrating it (you know, like giving honor to the new born Savior!) and preferred her favorite holiday, Halloween. The Christmas issue is dismal and so secularized, she steered it totally away from the reason for the season. My last year to subscribe.

So we plug on David, talking to those who will listen and praying our country sees the light and turns around.

Thank you so much for your letter. Merry CHRISTmas.

Most all of our founding fathers were Crhistian men yes. But they founded this country for every single man woman and child to practice whatever religion they so please without persecution. John adams did state that the government was built for a moral people, and it would fail otherwise, which is what i believe is happening today. But everyone in the united states has the right to be whatever religion or have whatever faith they would like, so im not sure what this letter is meant to do. But yes, morals do need to come back into a corrupt government.

Did you ever read the Constitution of the United States? Clearly, in this State the First Amendment is never read, however, the Second Amendment is your favorite. Here is the 1st Amendment.

The amendment prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances. Being Atheist, we don't cram our view down your throat. Clearly our Forefathers as much as you'd like to believe were religious defined the 1st Amendment, so much for your viewing them as "relgious," the New Radical Tea Party should have learned from this last election, people are finally engaging on their rights. At one point I was Agnostic, this new Radical Tea Party movement has changed that for me, I'm proudly Atheist. You can worship someone you don't see, I chose to get involved, think for myself. People have to get over the stigma of the word Atheist, more of us are turning every day, that's a proven fact.

Gee Dave which godless are you talking about. Is it the preists that like to take children for a quiet walk that may effect their life for a long time. Or is it the Politician who is caught with someone elses wife like David Betrayus. Or all the politicians who have been caught cheating, some with a very wide stance in an airport restroom for god sakes. The majority of Americans still believe in some form of God. It might not be yours Dave but I thought that thats what freedom of religion was all about. Take some time away from fighting to get your country back and go see Lincoln. Come up with a politician like him and you will take back the Presidency. But I won't hold my breath. Merry Christmas Dave
